It was just bad. No flavor what so ever and the fried rice tasted like everything made before it and nothing at the same time. Quick service though. read more

Our fav Chinese spot this side of town! My husband and I crave it every few weeks and get take out. It's always good food, kind service, and affordable. read more

We have been doing takeout here. The food is very good. Start with the wonton soup. I usually don't care about the wontons. But the ones they make are delicious. It is well filled with pork wontons. And the boneless spareribs are incredible. So very delicious. On our third visit we ate in the takeout restaurant. Well air conditioned. I enjoy this place a lot. Highly recommend. read more

Service was great. Food was terrible. Orange beef was soggy and dumplings tasted like they turned bad.

Food was great. Got crabmeat sticks, egg drop wonton soup and beef and broccoli. Definitely order from here once a week.

First and foremost I did not want to give a star at all but it is required for my review. The food had NO flavor the dumplings were potted meat in pirogi noodles. The lo mein was swimming in grease they tried to substitute for sauce. NOT to mention the container had rice that was not asked for. Short ribs were bbq covered tired shreds and the rice was bad as well. The name is China taste and yet their food has none, save your money. read more

China Taste - This is supposed to be dumplings - Chinese Near Me - Henrico, Virginia

Very typical Chinese American take-out. They have seating, but due to the pandemic, understandably, its carry out only for now. Items are priced as expected. Nothing seems outrageously priced. My only critique, sometimes when ordering the beef and broccoli, we've run into a few chewy pieces here & there. Other than that, its what you would expect...egg rolls, fried rice, lomein, crab Rangoon, General Tsos etc. It doesn't represent itself as a destination for the health-conscious crowd nor a "James Beard award contender" either. I can't comment on authenticity in ingredients, techinique nor presentation because this style of preparation is representative of most chinese take out places I've experienced in multiple states throughtout my life. This is my go-to place for this style of chinese food in the area. Quick Tip : add a little cayenne pepper to you rice when you get home...its good! (red pepper packets are as normal as soy sauce in ST. LOUIS, MO)... read more

First time here, I ordered beef and broccoli, 2 egg rolls and hot & sour soup. Excellent flavor, very hot food. I will order again. The staff is very friendly. read more

I came to this restaurant with low expectations because I knew it was an Americanized-Chinese food place. This was one of only two restaurants near my Family Medicine preceptor's office, and since there was no lunch provided that day and I had not brought my own lunch, I wandered into the plaza with China Taste across the street. Since I knew I was having hambone soup for dinner, I opted for more Asian-style food for lunch instead of the sole other dining option (Italian). China Taste is a very simple restaurant with a few highlighted items in a picture menu above the cashier as well as a printed, complete menu at the counter. There are a few tables/booths for dine-in patrons, but it is clearly intended as a takeout place. When I approached the counter to peruse the menu, another customer was just leaving and was asking the employee how to say "goodbye" in Chinese; it was very amusing to hear her attempt 再見 [zai4 jian4]. I spent a long time poring over the menu to find the least Americanized dish possible, without too much luck. I ended up settling on pepper beef from the lunch special menu, since it came with an eggroll or soup. After ordering, I asked whether I needed to specify my choice of soup from the three options (wonton, egg drop, hot and sour). The cashier lady said, "oh, you want soup? You can have either soup or an eggroll." Of course I wanted soup! I am Chinese, she is Chinese; this should have been a no-brainer, lol. I told her wonton soup and then paid and took a seat at one of the booths. I decided to dine-in since it was so cold outside. It was nice of the employee to bring water and plates/utensils to my seat, even though this was clearly more of a takeout place. She did commit faux pas #2 though when she only brought me a fork and a spoon; I had to kindly ask for a pair of chopsticks. My restaurant ratings are primarily influenced by the quality of the food though, and even though service was pretty friendly, the food was just mediocre. The wonton soup was rather plain, and the wonton skin and filling were nothing special (granted, it was a complimentary lunch special soup); at least it was hot. My main dish ended up being beef with onions and BELL peppers (in my mind, I was expecting black pepper beef). It was a bit too salty of an entree for me, but tolerable when eaten with rice. However, the rice came served on a plate with the beef (mistake #3)! I ended up scraping all the food into my empty soup bowl and eating the dish out of my bowl, which felt so much more satisfying. In all honesty, this place isn't really that bad for an Americanized-Chinese food takeout place; I'm just not the target audience. But given the three strikes detailed above and the so-so food, I stand by my rating of three stars. read more

The food is delicious and fast, the people are incredibly friendly and polite, and it's super close to my house. I only wish they had delivery as an option aside from eating in or takeout. They are also pretty quiet for the most part. They're a good place to go if you want to read and study or something as you eat. They just don't have wifi. read more

If I could give it a zero trust me I would I hated this place don't even try to call they won't answer they are rude and shouldn't be running still read more

This was my first and last visit to China Taste. I ordered the General Tso Chicken and Shrimp Lo mein. The Genral Tso Chicken breading was so thick and had this almost fuzzy like texture. I think it came from the sauce that was way to thick, and from sitting on the chicken for way to long. The Shrimp Lo mein was bland, however that appeared to be fresh. I suggest they season the food better, fix it fresh, and don't bread the chicken as thick. read more

They dont answer the phone when they are busy. VERY rude. I would mind being on hold if they just respond. The phone rang 20+ times.

Service was awesome but the food was horrible. The hot n sour soup wasn't hot or sour. The lo mein wasn't good either. My Mom had the Wonton soup which she didn't like either. read more

This is a fairly new Chinese restaurant in the Food Lion shopping center on New Market Rd. (Rt. 5). I've stopped in a couple of times for takeout and I have to say they are so nice and friendly. The food is very tasty and the decor is modern and very clean. Their service is very fast too. They really do aim to please. I would highly recommend them! read more

They have great service and fast. They also as little expensive. But out of all of the Chinese food places I actually true them more.

Great food! My wife and I frequent them for take out. Just don't eat inside, they focus more on the quality of the food than the cleanliness of the dining area. read more

I've really enjoyed China Taste since they came to Varina. The owners are very friendly and they run a tight ship, clean throughout the store. I've tried many of the menu items and really like the Mu Shu and rice noodle dishes. The fried rice is a little unorthodox but quite tasty. This place is a regular in my rotation. read more

This is the only Chinese place I'll go to! I would say we eat here about every other week. I have tried many things here everything is always great. Five stars for the amazing customer service and friendly staff. The food is also great, standard Chinese American cuisine. The hot and sour soup is especially delicious and a must when I stop in. read more

Great food. Fried scallops were just ok. And the curry shrimp with onions needed more shrimp.

The rice isn't that great. But everything else on the menu Is AMAZING!!! The food is always so yummy. The owners are very friendly. I hope one day they will deliver but I don't mind pick-up it's so worth it. I just wish their rice didn't taste like it was drowned in soy sauce. Other than that it's worth eating here! read more

Reliably tasty shopping center Chinese. Favs are the curry beef and fried dumplings .

I would have to say that this was probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I must say that the restaurant itself was super clean!!!

We love this restaurant. It is rare for a teen to say...let's get Chinese. This is the only place our son will eat ANY oriental. It is THAT good! Thanks China Taste!! read more

The only thing I have had worth eating here is lo mein. Their spareribs are awful as is their broccoli and beef. I dare not stray to other menu items. read more

Probably my least favorite Chinese place to eat. Not much taste and use bamboo shoots in the mix. The egg rolls are meatless and pre made. I don't plan on returning. read more

Not worth the money. I got beef and broccoli and the beef was undercooked ... I only ate my broccoli and soy sauce saturated fried rice... Oh well first time trying and the last read more

The food is not traditional Chinese food but is Chinese-American as expected. Therefore, I rated it 3 stars for that reason in regard to the food and the service is good as well. If you like greasy Chinese-American food? This is the best one in town and better than any in Richmond. Remember to keep it business like when visiting location as they lack interpersonal skills. read more
