This place has good food, good service and the interior decor is so fun. We enjoy it every time we come here.

I stopped by during my travels and ordered the chicken fried rice with an egg roll and wonton soup. The service was good and friendly. The fried rice was just OK in my opinion. The chicken was sliced thin, like deli style, and the fried rice only had peas and I could not see any egg, which I was expecting. The egg roll was not as good as it looked and was hoping for better. I could have swore I left a review of this place??? Yelp?? This is the best Chinese food I've eaten outside of New York City. While traveling from Wisconsin back to Iowa we decided to take a detour a few years ago and super glad we did. We stop here frequently now. The sauces they use on their dishes are the best and taste as if they're made in house not from a bottle. The meat always taste fresh and not marinaded to mush like lots of Chinese restaurants. Their pineapple pork fried rice is always ordered my wife and sometimes she orders two so she has leftovers. I pick and choose from the menu and on this visit I had the Cantonese Wanton Fair. WOW!!! I have never seen this on any menu. Maybe it's a specialty of this place, well worth trying. Three meats, beef, chicken, shrimp and tons of vegetables and surrounded by wantons stuffed with a ground beef. One of the best single dishes I've eaten here. The portion sizes are meant for two so you always have leftovers too. If you r traveling through or live close by this is great stop! read more

Bad so bad. Everything had an off taste. Could be old food that should have been dumped. That is what I did but only after I paid $46.00 for my order. After reading the mixed reviews of China Restaurant I was a little hesitant to give them a try. The first thing that struck me about the place was the look and feel of the dining area. The dining area is clean tidy and well cared for as opposed to the exterior of the building which is sad and tired. The menu appeared to be the same old Americanised Chinese food you can find in every US town with a population over 5000. There were absolutely no surprises on this menu. My dining companion and I both ordered from the lunch specials. Soup, egg roll, entree and "fried rice". The food was hot and prepared fresh. That being said, my entree was almost devoid of flavor. Got food to go for a late lunch and it was by far the best chinese food I have had in a long time. Called in my order and it was a short wait. Food was hot, fresh and tasted amazing. I was really achin for Chinese food and this was the only spot for a long while. I dropped in to order take out. I did not stay to eat but the inside of the building was much nicer than the outside would lead you to believe. The service was very friendly and the order came out very quickly! The price was very reasonable and the portion was mega huge. More than a normal person could ever eat. Unfortunately, all of this means little to me when the food isn't good. I ordered a sesame chicken combo. The chicken was one piece and cut into slices which I found unusual. It was very dry. The sauce was weird and too sweet with big chunks of mushroom. I had a hard time understanding if I had gotten the wrong order or if they just have a very different idea of a very basic Americanized Chinese meal. The whole thing was weird. The only good part of the meal was the egg roll. The rest of it had to be thrown away, which is something I almost never do. read more

In such a small town it is truly amazing to find a gem like this place! On the outside, with it's strange pink shell and rather off-putting location, I would have driven right passed had my partner not told me that we should have dinner there. Walking in was like being transferred into a small portion of China! It is BEAUTIFUL on the inside! There's an indoor water feature, and beautiful Chinese decor. The family that runs it has done a wonderful job! The waitress (whom I believe is the owners wife) was very friendly, and quick to get our drinks out and orders taken. I knew it was going to be family style so I was pleasantly surprised when she brought out some plates for us to share stuff. The wontons were perfectly fried, not too greasy like some places. And the trio of sauces to dip them in was an interesting and welcome addition! The eggrolls as well were perfectly cooked and didn't have that gross oily feeling (or leave a pool on the plate). The steamed veggies were cooked, but still crisp (VERY important if you ask me), the chicken was delicious and you can tell that because it's not breaded it is actually prepared in house which was another wonderful touch. The sauce was a little different than I am used too... but delicious nonetheless. The only thing I can say I didn't particularly like about it was how quiet it is in there... no music, very little chatter from other tables... All you can hear is the water feature, which isn't bad... but it's kind of like eating on your own little island haha. I will most assuredly be back! read more

Worth giving 10 stars!! Found it on our road trip from CA to MI. With ample parking on the lakeside, the restaurant inside had a garden feel and looked way better than we imagined. The service was quick, food tasted absolutely great and the price was just awesome. Only thing, they had no desserts! Overall, this was one of our valuable/best finds till date!! read more

Close to the highway, open at 3pm on a Saturday, quick n better than fast food on a road trip. We had the majestic chicken entree and the teriyaki chicken appetizer and it was enough for 2 adults and 1 kid. Happy with both. They had a nice kick, waitstaff was fast n friendly n we got back on the highway in no time w full happy bellies. Loved the waterfall fountain. Even my picky eater kid liked the food read more

They were recommended by my hotel. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and crab rangoons while my wife opted for Spicey vegetables and veggie egg roll. This may have been the best sweet and sour chicken I have ever eaten. The chicken was sliced into strips as opposed to the chunks and blobs I usually receive. Very tasty crab rangoons were also very good. My wife enjoyed her vegetables but really enjoyed the veggie egg roll. I only wish we were staying longer so we could eat there again. A nice surprise. We stopped in Albert Lea for a pit-stop to gas up and take a break to... um... stretch our legs. We were starving, but yet another meal of fast food on our 3000 mile road trip made us want to eat the car instead! So I busted out my Yelp app and found this place from other Yelpers. Thanks, everyone! This place was really yummy. Admittedly, egg rolls and fried rice aren't the easiest things to eat in the car, but the made-fresh food was worth it! We were a little sad to have found this place though, because it's so dang far away! We would definitely be regulars if we lived here :( read more

I ordered wonton soup and shrimp with lobster sauce. It was so bad, I actually threw it out, and that is something I rarely ever do with food. This food wasn't gross or spoiled, it was just prepared completely wrong. The wonton soup had no wontons, just a few thin strips of noodles (the kind used for dumplings, not wontons) and two tiny pieces of pork, and it did not come with any crunchy noodles. The shrimp with lobster sauce had tiny shrimp with no flavor, and no sauce, just a thin watery broth. I know I'm not in New York or San Francisco, but I have had plenty of good to great Chinese food around the country. This is unacceptable. Whoever runs this place does not exhibit pride in their food craft or perform quality control. There were no mistakes made, which I would understand; this was simply an issue of giving the customer watered down, poor quality food. I would be embarassed to serve this food if this were my restaurant. I hate to put down a local restaurant but I wrote this review because I feel the need to warn people. I would love it if other people had wonderful experiences with this restaurant. I am not out to attack the business, but bad is bad. read more

I had high hopes for this place. It had good reviews and a beautiful interior and food display. But I was let down quickly. I should have listened to my friend's advice about this place. Service was slow. wait staff was friendly but a bit unprofessional. at one point my soda was refilled by her pouring it in from another cup of soda. The heck?! The food was not good either. I ordered honey walnut shrimp. It was coated in the glazed like cream cheese stuff that was so thick tat it couldn't flavor the rice at all. I do not recommend this! read more

The restaurant is set up in a very stylish fasion! It's like you are outside with a sky ceiling and a waterfall on the wall. The atmopshere is peaceful. The staff is very friendly. The food was amazing and very fresh. We got our crab ragoon and lunch very quickly. The chicken was crisp on the outside and the salad was delighful. The egg roll was very plump. Great food and Great service. Looked like it was closed as we passed but caught a glimpse of the "open" sign and turned around. Egg drop soup was amazing. The person I ate with ordered the Kung Pao Trio and said it was the best he's ever had. I played it safe with the chicken fried rice. It wasn't anything different than any other Chinese restaurant. The owner and staff are pleasant any time I have visited this restaurant and I have always been happy with the food as well. Plenty of off street parking and a location with easy access as well. The inside decor is a little over the top for such a small space, but it creates many quiet corners for a romantic evening or even a business lunch. The portions are large for the price, and any one main course is plenty for two to share, and to have some to take home. read more

Honestly the best Chinese food I've had! Easily my favorite restaurant. The interior is very unique,complete with a waterfall and themed wall decor, and adds to your dining experience. Service is very quick which makes it a great place not only for a great dinner, but even a quick lunch! The lunch menu offers smaller portions and good combos!
