It mostly felt like lotion being lightly rubbed on my back rather than any real muscle work. When I asked if she could apply more pressure, instead of adjusting the technique she repeatedly pressed her elbow into the same area, which became painful rather than helpful. It felt like the same spot was being worked over and over instead of a proper massage. Since this was a couples massage, my partner was in the room with me and even he could tell that I was uncomfortable during the session even his massage therapist Emma seen I was uncomfortable and she tried to lighten the mood. I still tried to be a good sport and finish the massage because he had spent so much money on the experience and I didn't want to ruin the moment. Afterward I shared my concerns with the manager. The studio is a single-room space with one mattress, used for both massage sessions and the practitioner's personal living, sleeping, and intimate activities. There is no physical separation between professional and personal space. There is also no shower--only a bathroom sink used for bathing. This means clients receive bodywork on the same surface used for sleep and sex. These conditions were never disclosed to me beforehand. Had I known, I would not have consented. Later, I became aware that at least one other female client was also involved in a sexual dynamic with the practitioner. I personally witnessed an extended intimate interaction inside the studio, visible through the large storefront window. This reflects a concerning pattern of blurred lines between healing work, residential living, and intimacy. Despite the relief I experienced physically, I ultimately left in more trauma than when I arrived--due to a total lack of professional containment, boundaries, and ethical clarity. I share this not out of malice, but out of responsibility. I personally would not have consented to therapeutic care here had I known more about the environment, the interpersonal dynamics, or the practitioner's ethical practices.
