Not impressed. Husband went to pick it up and said they're unfriendly. The crab Rangoon was maybe the only good item. The beef lo mein was ok. The beef had more flavor but the noodles were just ok. Also got chicken fried rice. The chicken just looks weird. The rice was just ok. Seems like the chicken and the rice need more seasoning. Definitely will go to a different Chinese place. This was down the street from us so thought we would try it. Now we know not to order from here again. read more

Good Chinese food - not the best, but not the worst. I noticed they care about presentation when I got my to go order as they lined the dish with broccoli. Sesame Chicken was good, as well was the rice. The only issue that would have me hesitating to go back was that a good portion of the chicken was hard. Why would chicken be hard? read more

This used to be one of my favorite places. Then a coworker pointed out their very poor hygiene practices . I noticed shortly after that they would wipe their nose and stuff with their hands while cooking. I stopped going for well over a year. I have been craving Chinese food so bad for a month or so now so I decided to give them another chance. I won't be making that mistake again. I placed my order online around 720. It used to take them about 15 minutes to get an order ready but I wanted to give them extra time as they are very busy and I would be on my way to work. My online order said it would be ready at 7:45. I got there right on time to a restaurant full of people waiting. Every time they would give someone their order she gave them an extra baggie saying "thank you for waiting". My order was not ready until 8:20, making me super late for work! I would have walked out if they hadn't already taken my money at 7:45. And I was the very last person served- even though several came in after me. And guess who didn't get any thank you for waiting " extras after waiting nearly 40 minutes in that place. I'm sure my frequent eye rolling and pacing didn't make them fond of me but I was so anxious and upset at being so late to work. Maybe I'll try them again in a year or so. read more

I have eaten here 3 different times. I have consistently been disappointed in the service every single time, but I wanted to give them a chance before I made a decision. Tonight was the final straw. I placed my order at 4:41pm. They told me it would be 25 minutes. When I got there they acted like they were seeing my order for the first time. After 1 hour of waiting I finally spoke up (I know, why did even wait that long?). The lady said it would be "2 minutes". It took a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes to receive my order. The entire time all of the employees were yelling at each other in the back while a child (literally a child) was running the register. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Good Lord, why? Why did we try it again? Ordered a pork fried rice, vegetable stir fry, and sesame chicken. Received instead veggie fried rice, sesame chicken, and a pork fried rice. Oh and "free" stale hard wonton strips to put in a "free" soup we did not eat. The fried rices were no good; tasted like they had been cooked with burning chemicals, hard to describe... like it was cooked where a microwave had caught fire? This place was pretty good. I stopped by here for a quick take out dinner to eat at the lake while camping. I had the beef lo mien and generals tso's chicken. I felt like it was a teeny tiny bit under seasoned but that's fine w/ me. nothing a packet of soy sauce couldn't fix. I'm just glad it wasn't salty! The food was made to order. I was super excited about my to go container, it was divided....for people who don't like their food touching :)! Like I said, the food was good, normal sized portions, normal priced. Oh but one thing that stood out to me was the rice, I got white rice w/ my generals chicken and it was so good. It was soft and tasted like Thai jasmine rice. Like others have said, China King in Smithville IS a hidden gem! Their made to order entrees and sides are always hot, fresh, and delicious. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The owners and staff are always very nice and have excellent memories (lol). They remember most all regular customers including what they order. Prices are very reasonable and portions are large. This is my go to place for Chinese in the KC Metro area. read more

Great food and very affordable. Staff is very friendly, service is good and they are extremely fast. I normally call for takeout and rarely have to wait more than 20 mins for pickup. Crab Rangoon is exceptional. I love spicy food so I ask for extra, extra spicy. My only complaint is they rarely get it hot enough for me. read more

I've eaten here pretty often and it's pretty good. I usually get the teriyaki beef skewers which are very delicious, though I was a little disappointed with the General Tso's chicken. It wasn't gross it just wasn't as spicy as I'm used to whenever I've had it anywhere else. It was kinda sweet actually. read more

China King in Smithville is a hidden takeout gem. Yes it's in Smithville. It's probably much more convenient if you actually live IN Smithville. However, if you find yourself wandering (or perhaps lost) heading north on 169 Hwy, it's worth a stop in if you're hungry. Takeout is their specialty, however they do have a few small tables inside. The owner (Mr. David aka Mr. Wei) is there all the time cooking. He is awesome! read more

China King was one of very few options in Smithville. My wife was asleep, I was murkin in rainbow six and needed some fuel. Chinese sounded good. So I tried this place out. I ordered general tso chicken. It was good. I even knocked down a poke gym on the way. The broccoli was an excellent surprise in my chicken. Back to the Xbox. Will eat again. Thanks. read more

Food is always great. If you like calling ahead, it's never done when they say it is. Be ready in 15 min is what we were told. 30 so far and still waiting. Not the first time it's happened. Last 3 times it has taken 30 minutes. It's almost like they wait till you show up before the make it. So, we tried their online ordering and paid for it in advance, took longer. I'm not sure how long this place has been around; but for some reason I have always avoided it. My (step)son and I were going to go grab food and he said he had eaten here recently and it was really good. We walked in and my first thought was that this place was gona stink (and it kind of did). nothing matches really, the bathroom was pretty gross, nobody was in there except the owner sitting out at a table eating his dinner and the wife behind the counter yelling at her kid and some (creepy ?) looking guy in the back cutting veggies... SOOOOO we ordered orange chicken, crab rangoons, an eggroll and fried rice.... as soon as we ordered all the workers ran to the kitchen and began cooking.... you can watch them cook... we got our food to go, so i was still worried it was going to suck... when we got home and i took the first bite it was actually really really good! Maybe the first time I've ever had "crispy" orange chicken (usually its sitting in sauce for hours OR the fried chicken has been sitting in a bin for hours, etc). SO until my Smithville locals tell me its been shut down for roaches a dozen times or something, then i'll probly keep eating here cuz it was super good!! read more
