They say they're NY-style Chinese food, but I think it's really just American Chinese food. They have all the things you'd expect from a takeout Chinese place. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken. I had got the quart so I could enjoy leftovers. Immediately after eating the food, I had an awful stomachache. It was so oily! If you're not as sensitive to oily food, I am sure it's fine.

Besides, we have been wanting to try Shanghai since we moved to Ocala. The Publix we always shop at is in the same plaza but we never stopped here. I grew up on chicken noodle/ rice soup from Chinese restaurants in NYC when I was sick. There really is something about Chinese soup that soothes magically. I was somewhat ambivalent about which soup to have and although I never ordered Hot & Sour soup, I was craving spicy. Hubs ordered both the chicken & rice soup, as well as the hot & sour soup. The chicken rice soup was tasting bland to me but the hot & sour soup hit the friggin spot! I also love broccoli with garlic sauce and hubs picked that up too. That was tasty as well. Hubs claimed to have ordered Singapore noodles but what he received was Lo Mein. He still enjoyed it anyway but I would have liked to try the Singapore noodles since it's one of my favorites as well. Hubs spent about $35 for the 4 items and he thought that was reasonable but I thought it was a little overpriced. We did agree we liked the food so we will definitely visit again.

Like others, we were just passing thru Ocala and relied on Yelp reviews. If you really read their reviews, something is suspicious. I do agree with the failed health inspection on Jan 6, 2026. First, we were the only people for lunch at noon on a Wednesday. Although, there was evidence of other people having been there (dirty dishes in 3 of the booths - never cleared off the entire time we were there) A girl about 12 years old brought us water and spilled it on the table. The water tasted weird. We had to stand up and ask for someone to take food order. Odd since we were the only customers. We ordered chicken bento boxes and shrimp tempura. Up charged for "fried rice" - something about the rice was extremely off. It was like... chewy, mushy, and flavorless. Like it was bad sushi rice with soy sauce, carrots and corn. Not fried. The chicken pieces were about 2 inch strips or cubes...? the only utensil provided was a fork and chopsticks like, how am I supposed to eat this? I wish I hadn't. Texture was like saucy rubber. Truly, disgusting. Shrimp tempura came out as shrimp teriyaki but my mom ate it anyway. I thought it was weird they left the tails on saucy shrimp. Had to use hands to eat and our napkins had been used to sop up the water spill. They never brought more. My intuition said leave as soon as I walked in but I didn't want to be difficult for my small party. I should have trusted my gut and am paying for it 12 hrs later.

Everyone in our table found the food tasty and delicious starting with the appetizer mee krob and crab Rangoon. We had drunken noodles, pad Thai with duck, pad woonsen with duck and the soft shell crab. All servings were more than generous so much so that each one of us had leftovers to take home. Service was prompt and quick. I like that the servers were team tagging on our table despite the fact that there were other occupied tables (probably half a dozen) with 3 or 4 diners. It was not a very busy Saturday lunchtime though diners were coming in and out. But I've been here on weekdays and the place could get loud. Prices are fair. This is definitely one of the better Thai restaurants in Ocala. All 4 of us decided that we'll come back to taste the other interesting offerings in their menu. Highly recommend that you come and try as well.

My husband got pork pad Thai which was also stellar, noodles cooked perfectly and the sauce not overly sweet. Overall, this is the most solid and authentic Thai we've had within a 25 mile radius. Will definitely be a regular spot for us. Thanks Alex!!!
