All of the Chinese places near me leave a lot to be desired, so I'm always looking for a decent one. 2nd time here for me. 1st time we tried various dishes, and all were pretty good so hence this 2nd visit. This time, shrimp egg foo young, shrimp in garlic sauce, and shrimp chop suey. All dinner combo's come with shrimp fried rice and an egg roll. Lots of food for the money. All were solid. The restaurant accepted a web order I created and then they called 20 minutes later to say they had a "family emergency" and had to close early. I already paid online and they assured me the charge would not go through as they closed and were unable to make the food. I called my husband as he was on his way and I said turn around... Did not enjoy the food. Had Szechuan beef with white rice, Shrimp fried rice and crab puffs. By far the crab puffs were the worst. The shrimp fried rice - bland. I'd opt for other local spots. This started as trying to find a back-up for Chinatown. WOW! This place is amazing... we call it "5 Minute" because that is what the lady first told me on the phone, and she wasn't kidding... for lunch, that is. Their Lunch Combos come with an egg roll, a bottle of water, a huge serving of shrimp fried rice, and your large order. I LOVE their Shrimp Kow, it is so flavorful, I'm sure anything China House makes is wonderful. Oh, best yet, you get all this for under $12. I've lived in the Lombard/Villa Park/Glen Ellyn area my whole life, and I've ALWAYS been a loyal Tong's Tiki Hut customer, however, when my family and I noticed the food being less tasty and MORE expensive, it was time for a change. China House has been a pleasant surprise to fill that Chinese takeout void in our lives. We like pretty much anything fried from there (egg rolls, crab rangoon, sweet and sour chicken, etc.,) and their beef fried rice has large pieces of tender meat that is really good! This was always the go to Chinese food restaurant when we used to live in villa park. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, an extra large chicken fried rice, and a house special. All of them were really great! We were even treated with free orange chicken and crab Rangoon. They give crab Rangoon with orders over $25 and orange chicken with orders over $50 which is an awesome deal. This was the closest Chinese food restaurant that was open on New Year's Eve. We ordered online and then drove to pick it up. Once we got home we realized that the additional white rice we ordered was not in the bag. Husband called the restaurant. Apparently, the online order did not carry through the white rice add-on, even though our computer screen was still up and showed the white rice. The person on the phone said the manager would call us back. Yea, right, we knew that was not going to happen and it didn't. We have been going to China House for over 10 years. The food is excellent. Would highly recommend.

The food is always served fresh and hot. They are friendly and accommodating with substitutions and extras. The only downside is the consistency of the shrimp size. Sometimes in the fried rice, you get small, but other times they are tiny salad size. I still would recommend this restaurant read more

I ordered delivery from them yesterday since my normal go tos (Tae Fu and Tongs) are closed Tuesday. Delivery was quick and safe, but I can't say much for the food. I ordered two chicken dishes and only received the less expensive one. They gave me Rangoons instead, which isn't really a meal. The chicken I did get was pretty decent for the price. I also got bbq fried rice, but it was very dry. I definitely don't feel it was with the $40+tip I paid for the food and delivery. They're okay but it seems like we have a plethora of better options in VP. read more

Wow, I truly do not understand the current 3 star overall rating. I've been coming to this place since the mid-90s through its various incarnations as: 1. mostly carryout with a few dine-in tables, 2. full dine-in options (with a great buffet), and now 3. strictly carryout. I'm still greatly disappointed there's no longer a dine-in option considering I have never lived in the area but try to make it here as often as possible. Truly, the only food Chinese food I have had that can compare to China House is in Chinatown. Here's a quick rundown: - best egg rolls & fried rice I've ever had, bar none. I fail to see how someone can have a different carryout egg roll from a similar sized place, an Asian buffet, or most other dine-in options and say with a straight face that these are not vastly superior. The shrimp egg roll is to die for, period. - best sweet and sour sauce. it's homemade and so much tastier than any other I've had - impossible to find beef or chicken that is more tender - amazing value, especially for the lunch combos The only items I have had there that I would label just 'average' would be general tso's and crab rangoon (simply because they're true rangoon with chunks of crab and I'm more of a cream cheese rangoon junkie). I understand the qualm of the location and the difficulty getting there since they installed the median years ago, but the runaround is fully worth it. Yes, this is a hole in the wall Chinese place and can be hard to find. BUT they have the best Chinese food I've ever eaten, and I'm a foodie who has eaten at many Chinese places. the orange chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce, and fried rice are the best! And so much food!!!! And the eggrolls...OMG they are the traditional kind, not those pathetic skinny spring rolls so many places have now. This place looks like a bad bathroom experience waiting to happen but it's actually one of my favorite hole in the wall restaurants. The older asian man that takes your order is super nice and he really gives you more bang for your buck. I ordered the small mushroom fried rice and the container was super filled up to the point where he had to staple the container together. The smoothies are really good too, my friends got a watermelon smoothie and it tasted super fresh. I will say though, there seems to be a generational and a language barrier because me being the annoying millennial, was snapchatting and it made him a little uncomfortable but he was really nice about it. Decided to take a chance on a new spot today and tried this place out. First I must point out that there is a ton construction that's going on in front of the restaurant. It makes it a bit of a pain to get into. I realize this is not the restaurant's fault, however if ordering again I would probably opt for delivery to save me a headache. The service was great! The food is okay. The portions are definitely generous. A large is gigantic. My husband has left overs for days. If I could give stars on cost alone -- the prices were great. 5 out of 5! The best Chinese takeaway in town. The portions are huge, but very affordable. They always give you plenty of fortune cookies and condiment packets like soy sauce, hot mustard, or sweet and sour sauce. They've got coupons available, which only make their deals that much better. My family can be picky, so we end up asking for a dish to be customized here and there, and they always make the changes exactly how we order them. They have such a good staff. They really listen to what you're asking for. Plus, they're about the only place I've ever managed to get fried rice where they didn't overheat the oil and end up with everything tasting burnt. Perfect fried rice every time. Oh, and they have the best crab rangoons and Chinese chicken wings in town. My husband and his pals never shut up about those chicken wings! We end up ordering them every game night. Seriously, I can't say enough good things about this place. This is my local Chinese take out place. I've been going here for several years and I've never been disappointed. The portions at this place are out of control! I used to order large of everything but realized I really only needed to order small. When I order small I still have left overs! My favorite choices are vegetable fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and kung pao chicken. You also receive complimentary white rice, tons of fortune cookies and soy sauce/sweet and sour sauce/mustard. They recently started offering fruit "smoothies". I've had the pineapple flavor a few times and it is delish. It really isn't a fruit smoothie that is creamy, it is more of a slushie. Came here a few weeks ago since I was at a friend's house in the neighborhood and hungry. I personally have nothing bad to say about this place. It's all carry out, so we ordered ahead of time. The potstickers were hands down the best I've ever had. Crab Rangoon was great too; lots of imitation crab instead of the usually lightly crab flavored cream cheese. Thanks to a new "friend" (try to read between the lines here, please) my Saturday Night Pizza Quest has been temporarily put on hold whilst I occupy myself with other matters which included Chinese take-out from his favorite restaurant last night. I must say I was pleasantly suprised. Though my usual dish for judging a new Chinese place is Mongolian Beef, I went to my second "go-to" of Moo Shu Pork to try and coax said friend away from his tried & true favorite Lo Mein. Both were excellent AND I haven't seen potstickers this plump in a long time. The duck & hot sauce came in somthing othen than the ubiquitous plastic packets AND the egg rolls were crisp, even after a long ride out west on Lake Street in rush hour traffic. Best lil Chinese restaurant around in my opinion. I've been eating here for the last 10-12 years. I discovered them because they were the only Chinese place that delivered in the Villa Park/Addison area at the time. I've since found other places that deliver, but I always keep coming back here. I've had pretty much everything on their menu over the years, and they do most things well in my opinion. Although they seemed to have changed their egg rolls, which I can't say I'm a fan of, but it would hardly stop me from ordering their food. They are quick with their delivery and have always been very friendly. I introduced some friends to their food a while ago, and they are converts. My friend always gets mad at his wife if she orders from anywhere else. This place is under new ownership. They used to own Moon Garden in Hoffman Estates and my family and I have been going there since I was a kid. I was so happy when they opened this place because its closer to where I live now. The owners are very sweet and they always are so happy when we come pick up our food. They have the best egg rolls I have ever had. Crab Rangoon Is good. Their beef chop suey is always good, the beef is always tender.
