Also admitted one of tallest meringues I've ever seen. We just weren't in mood for pie. Service was ok. My water was empty for about 1/4 of my meal. They were it overwhelmed and had numerous empty tables. She was very friendly fly though. Ambiance is a charming little roadside cafe. The menu here is not expansive but it offers a very nice selection of tantalizing dishes. We opted for the fried chicken tacos. Being old timers with small appetites we customarily share an entree, but when I learned that an order consists of two, not the customary three tacos, I ordered a plate for each of us. Big mistake! Hahaha. These tacos are humongous! I'm afraid I totally failed to fulfill my duties as a responsible Yelper and take a photo of the presented plate. Attached is a pic of one, but the pic does not adequately provide for you a sense of the taco's actual size. We each had to work to finish one each. This creation is a work of taco art. A taco masterpiece. The tortilla appears to be house-made. The large pieces of chicken breast, perfectly seasoned and breaded; and crisply fried rest on a bed of some of the tastiest cole slaw ever. The fried chicken is then topped with a couple sauces that sing with the chicken and finished with house made hot honey. This taco is worth the drive to Hico from FTW for lunch. Service was once again very pleasant and attentive. And as I think I said in my previous review, Owners/Chefs Austin and Shannon have done a wonderful job of curating a welcoming, warm and authentic ambiance in this historic building.

There appeared to be team of three staff 1 - kitchen, 1- drive thru, and 1- front counter. While it is a small town, I didn't think it was too busy. However, we did wait a long time at the counter. The drive thru staff acknowledged us and had to tell the front counter staff to take our order. Once our order was taken, the food came out quickly. The food presentation was promising. We ordered two Double Meat Belt Buster Combos one with fries and other with onion rings. Unfortunately, the meat patties were overly salted! Due to the amount of salt, we couldn't finish our burgers. The cost of the food with drinks was $27.77. As always if you find yourself in Clifton, Texas stop by Dairy Queen to give it a try for yourself.
