I have to say that when we pulled up to this restaurant, you could tell that they mostly did take out orders. Although they had a fully furnished dining room with about six tables. We were a party of five and had the restaurant to ourselves except for the occasional coming and going of people picking up their dinners. Out of the five of us two ordered generalTso's chicken combination dinner which comes with fried rice, your choice of soup and a spring roll. Both people ordering this dinner loved it! They commented on how much sauce was provided and how it was perfectly seasoned. Next was chicken lo mein. My sister loved that! Next was my mom's Mongolian beef combination dinner, which she loved! She also had egg drop soup. I had moo goo gai pan combination dinner with wonton soup, which was really good and my moo goo gai pan was good except it had believe it or not too much garlic! The sauce was really thin also. I did eat it though without complaining because the flavor was good, but the garlic was almost overwhelming. The ambience of the place is not all that great. You can tell that they didn't focus a whole lot on the dining room when they designed the restaurant because they were depending more on takeout orders.. The restaurant does not serve any alcohol at all, and all of the drinks are in the bottle. The lady that waited on us did a very good job, was very friendly and food was promptly delivered. Not because its great, its good considering the choices for Chinese food. They are stingy with the sauce! I never bark about price, but clearly the owner is concerned if I can afford it. If I could give it zero stars I would. We walked in and asked the girl up front if anything contained gluten, as I am celiac. A simple ask, if it was nothing that's ok it was worth an ask. The front desk girl proceeded to say "uhhhh I don't know" and just stared at me like a lifeless starfish baking in the sun. So I backed it up with a "could you please ask?", to which the response was "uhhhh I mean there pretty busy" keep in mind I understand busy however as a celiac I cannot play around. She finally went and got staff, which to much surprise a staff member came right away for it being so busy, we found out nothing was. Which was ok, I just wanted to know if anything was as my family wanted Chinese. Today I ordered from here the house lo mein, minus chicken and they still put chicken in it. :-( I took the pieces out and oh boy the tiny strips of beef and 2 small shrimp was such a disappointment. The food was tasty but lots of noodles and barely meat. I ate the spring rolls which were vegetables. The rolls were small and good. My son ordered lemon pepper wings and fries. He said the wings were pretty good and the fries were seasoned well. We had sprite sodas to drink which were really cold and refreshing. If I had to do it all over again, I would make sure that I check the food before leaving the restaurant. No chicken, means no chicken. This Asian cuisine is one that I had try a few times before reviewing. At first taste, I purchased several different combo choices to dabble into everything and as a family of six, we that quite often. The restaurant appeared clean, staff was professional and patient. The wait time from start to finish was speedy. Food portions are on key. Flavors and quality were iffy and all the chicken options tasted the same. Everything tasted like the General Tso flavors even though you could clearly tell sesame and orange chicken was made. So, figured we would try it again. China House is my family's go to Chinese restaurant in the area. A few years ago I had a few unfavorable experiences here but they have truly cleaned up their act. The staff is now always extremely friendly and extraordinarily kind to my family. The food is always prepared fresh and they have no problems tweaking dishes to suit your personal taste. My favorite dishes are the pepper steak, hunan pork, mongolian beef, and house lo mein. The hot and sour soup and egg drop soup are both delicious as well. I read the reviews before deciding to try out China House. My wife and I haven't found good Chinese food anywhere in Georgia. I wish I had not gone and we will not be returning. We both were so disappointed with our meal. We ordered hot and sour soup which was served Luke warm with an "off" flavor. We returned it to the waiter and chose the egg drop soup. Our order was served. My spicy sweet chili shrimp was syrupy sweet with tiny chopped carrots and green peas. The chicken in my wife's Kung pow was cut in such tiny pieces you couldn't tell the meat from the onions and veggies. Needless to say we didn't eat the food and we didn't want a hassle so we just paid, left and vowed never to return. Obviously some people like the food but we didn't. China House has the best Chinese food in McDonough. They are a little bit more costly than some of the other locations in the Clayton and Henry County area, but the food is fresh. The chicken is never questionable. The broccoli is steamed and fresh. The Egg drop soup is well seasoned. The spring rolls have seasoning on the meat, and the cabbage is always juicy. We dined in and had the Family Dinner for 2. For $25 we got two entrees, 2 spring rolls, 2 crab ragoons, two bowls of soup, and enough food for my boyfriend, son, and I to eat at the table and take to go boxes for lunch the next day. Lunch specials are usually under $8, and dinner will run you about $12-$14 depending on what you get but the food is tasty and the extra few dollars more than you may pay at other places is well worth it because they do not use short cuts. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, and the portions, and made us feel welcome. I highly recommend dining in or getting the food to go. I have done both. I was so disappointed in the food. Literally no seasoning or taste at all (No COVID). I should've known when the "fried rice" they gave me looked like it came straight out of a rice cooker with some soy sauce added. That was all. No egg, No seasoning, No vegetables. Hi i'm a current employee of china house and I just wanted to do this to help out of customers. I added two photos of our actual menu, one side is the lunch side and the other is the dinner side. For lunch everything on the lunch side comes with fried rice and a spring roll, if you want to change it to white rice there is no up charge but if you want to a side of lomein is a $4 up charge. For dinner the size and what comes with it is different. All dinner sizes are quart sized containers which comes with white rice(except fried rice and lomein), if you want fried rice instead it's 0.50 cent up charge and for lomein it's still a $4 up charge. We also have dinner combinations which is a combination plate not container which is a smaller size and comes with fried rice and a spring roll. Also when ordering during dinner time if you have an order with two things of a side of fried rice it will be combined into a large side order of rice and it's the same with white rice, if you want it not combined just ask us and we will make sure it's not combined. If you order a side of fried rice it's plain no veggies only egg and we cannot take out the egg or add anything into. If you want rice with meat or veggie fried rice it would have the a separate order of a dinner fried rice. We also don't have fountain drinks due to not being dine in but we do have 20 oz soda bottles of coke, sprite, mr pibb, diet coke, and orange fanta.
