Finally, I found decent Chinese takeout in this town! The proprietor doesn't speak much English, but ordering was simple enough. The egg roll was pretty basic and nothing to write home about; at least it wasn't particularly greasy. The shrimp toast was good, though I would have liked it better if they had tartar sauce available for it. The general tsos chicken was actually crispy, which was nice. The sauce was good, with just a little bit of heat. I do think that they probably used a little too much sauce and that would have caused the chicken to turn soggy if I hadn't picked it up quickly enough. I basing this review on a delivery type order. My first interaction is with a female on the phone taking my order. There is a notable strong language barrier. I'm not always understanding what she is saying; however, she seems to understand me perfectly. So the ordering process was slightly difficult, however everything was delivered correctly. On completing the order, I was given a 45 minute time frame for the food to arrive. I must say, they were quick, the arrival of my lunch was only 20 min. Today I ordered the fried dumplings, and a lunch special of general tso's chicken. The dumplings were very good. They have one side fried, and just a light brown color with a nice crispy texture. The filling in the dumplings was very tasty, I'm unsure of what they are filled with, and I didn't ask. It is a meat product of some type and delicious. They are delivered with a brown watery type dipping sauce. This is also very good, slightly salty, with a tangy finish, as well as a hint of onion. The lunch special size was plenty of food, there is at least enough for 2 meals. It was very hot on arrival, so hot that I was able to burn my tongue attempting to eat it. It the general tso's chicken served with fried rice, and an egg roll. The fried rice is cooked perfectly. The vegetables in the fried rice taste quite fresh as well. I have not yet tried the egg roll, however after experiencing the other foods, I'm sure I will like it. I must say this is one of the better Chinese type restaurants I have ordered from. Great Chinese takeout place. They have the usual menu. There was a little kid hanging around the restaurant which is usually a good sign I had the Beef with Garlic sauce and the Wonton soup. Also tried a little bit of the Mongolian Beef with shrimp fried rice. Got what I was looking for- a great version of what I expected. If I were staying in the area I'd make it my regular Chinese place. read more

I ordered a very simple order of Jumbo Shrimp fried rice, it came with one tiny little piece of shrimp, AND then the shrimp toast was burnt black. We will never ever order from here again. There's no option to include a pic of the burnt shrimp toast, but it is black, I am so angry read more

You really do find the differences between these Chinese food places even though they all look almost exactly the same. This place for example has very good beef on a stick and sweet and sour chicken. Prices are pretty fair for the quality and the staff is very friendly. read more

I got it to go because the dining room was small and kind of grubby. The kitchen was in plain view and didn't look scary though. The broccoli chicken I had was run of the mill Chinese carryout fare. The portion was huge, easily enough to feed two people, so was a good value for $8. I may even go back again sometime so I'll give it 3 stars. read more

The China Gate Restaurant has the best New York Style, Moo Goo Gia Pan and Roast Pork Lo Mein in the area. They prepair the food on demand and always have it ready to go within a few minutes. read more

I placed an order online tonight at 9:40. This was 20 minutes before closing, so I know it was a close call. However, the online ordering for a different establishment let me know when I tried to submit the order that they were no longer accepting orders due to being so close to closing time. This establishment let me place the order, so I waited for an hour and a half for it before writing it off as a lost cause. It's now been 2 hours. I understand that it was very close to their closing time, but I really think they should have not accepted my order if they could not fulfill it. I can't speak to the quality of the food since I never received mine, nor a call to let me know they couldn't fulfill the order, but I can't recommend this place just due to this experience. I was emailed a confirmation for my order, but it's looking like I'll never get it. So, we won't be ordering from here again. read more

I read the first couple of reviews and decided to order. I really liked the gentleman's comment on the fried rice. I come from New York and the fried rice was tastless, even with hot mustard it was bland. I had the Hawaii 5 0. Tasty sauce and sea food (if you could find it) but the beef or pork was terrible and the veggies were cold and raw. Wan Ton soup was fair at best. Egg rolls, even soaked with soy sauce, were tasteless. The spare ribs were over cooked on the outside and raw on the inside. Past reviews must have been written by staff. read more
