I thought the food was pretty good. I am used to Chinese food from Boston. I did not eat in the restaurant - it was a takeout order - both times. I got the "typical" stuff: lo mein, egg rolls, beef & broccoli, etc. The restaurant seemed to be clean enough- not sure what people expect. I had a craving for Chinese food! Honestly wanting some moo shu pork, I discovered that hardly any to go restaurants serve that any longer. So I settled for my second favorite,pork egg foo yung. They did not disappoint! When I picked up the bag to go. I noted how heavy it was. When I got home, I realized it was because there were three huge patties and a nearly a pint of gravy! Third time is a charm! I have recently had a massive craving for hot and sour soup. First place had zero flavor but good ingredients, second place minimal flavor but literally had cabbage, button mushrooms and a few pieces of tofu - nothing else! Tonight is the winner! Placed an order on my lunch break over the phone for fried chicken wings and pork fried rice and wasn't impressed. The wings were lowkey burnt and tasted like they had been fried in old grease. The pork fried rice was OK but i'm not use to eating fried rice that doesn't have some type of small vegetables cut up inside of it. I also saw a few reviews mentioning the Crab Rangoon which I ordered but did not finish because the filling inside of them was too sweet. I wont write this place off completely since it is extremely close to my job and everything was piping hot. I may have a better experience after I have tried a few more menu items. read more

I'm going to give this place a five star review for now although I've only eaten there once. The only meal my husband will eat is General Tso's chicken. This one has been the best so far. Big chunks of chicken not over done with the breading. Enough sauce to keep it juicy. I had spicy chicken which comes with no breading. Lots of vegetable. Like many have said DO NOT ORDER ONLINE!!! I put in an order at 7:20pm. At 8:20 I called restaurant she said she would call delivery driver. They said they never got my order from beyond menu!!!! Update: after many calls to BeyondMenu and China Gate, at 10:00 I FINALLY got my food. I even gave in and made something as China Gate called. Long story short. The people at the restaurant did an amazing job making up for the error and suggested I order direct from them now on. That is exactly what I'm going to do! Not very good!! Got food delivered, new to town and trying to find a favorite. Ordered steamed dumplings, spring rolls and lemon chicken. The dumplings were terrible. Too big, doughy and bland. Tried to order lunch for delivery. Man answering the phone basically spoke no English. After 5 minutes of frustration he said "I am canceling order" and hung up. Very poor experience. Very nice when I ordered and went and picked up. Have had a lot of Chinese They have odd looking Crab ragoon but WOW was Really Really Great!!!!!! Also order the sweet-and-sour chicken and was impressed with the red sauce not too thick not too runny not too sweet really good as well. Overall not that impressive. We ordered the Sesame Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken dinners for take out. Each came with fried rice and an egg roll. First the good. Food was ready on time and was hot and well packaged. The egg rolls were very good ;crunchy on the outside and tasty in the middle. Service was prompt and friendly. The Kung Pao chicken was pretty good. Not too hot and not too mild. Good flavors and tasted fresh. The not so good. The fried rice had very little flavor and was a touch gummy. The Sesame Chicken was sub-par and I wouldn't order again. Nice big portion but about 75% of the chicken was tough and chewy. The dish was more like sweet and sour chicken with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Overall a so so experience. I will probably try again for comparison but will stay away from any fried chicken dishes. read more

This is the best Chinese food in Pinellas County! I was trying to be healthy and asked them to do spicy chicken and vegetables with only chicken broth (no sauce). I decided to treat my wife who absolutely LOVES chinese food on a Friday night. I perused the menu and we decided to order two combo dinners. We have tried half a dozen places and we thought we would try this one. Out of all the places this one is absolutely the worst. First for two chicken combos delivered we were hit with a $40 tab plus tip. The portions were two foil trays smaller than a TV dinner. The delivery time we were told was 45 minutes. They came within 20. Strange. I can't get takeout that quick! Then we tasted the food. The visual appeal of my hmm... bourbon chicken. A brown tasteless mass of chunks of old stuff (could've been any mystery meat. no sauce.) With limp flaccid vegetables. I've had crispier carrots in a pot roast. As I could hear my wife crunch on her undercooked broccoli. Not even worthy of a salad. My dog didn't even come over for a taste. Utterly disappointing. Sorry honey. But on a positive note, they made every other place seem so much better. The canned cokes were the best part of the meal. Ramsey would throw this in the bin lol. read more

Finally, I found decent Chinese takeout in this town! The proprietor doesn't speak much English, but ordering was simple enough. The egg roll was pretty basic and nothing to write home about; at least it wasn't particularly greasy. The shrimp toast was good, though I would have liked it better if they had tartar sauce available for it. The general tsos chicken was actually crispy, which was nice. The sauce was good, with just a little bit of heat. I do think that they probably used a little too much sauce and that would have caused the chicken to turn soggy if I hadn't picked it up quickly enough.
