It's just disappointing. Probably because i read all the great reviews before i went there. Maybe they usually are really good but were having an off day today? China King is clean looking, easy to find, and everyone was really friendly. We'd been to China Gate and that place was dirty AF, had a bad smell, & the food was gross. China King is way better and doesn't smell bad. We got 3 smaller then average egg rolls but sadly threw them away because they had a bad chemical taste to them. The orange chicken is good. The sze. chicken is alright it's not spicy but it's ok. Now the really bad.... We ordered sweet and sour pork and it had the same bad chemical taste our egg rolls had. I called China King and they agreed to exchange it for another orange chicken. They weren't going to give me the money back, but at least they exchanged the bad food which was fine with me. I don't know if the pork they used today was spoiled or if some chemical got spilled in the meat and they didn't realize it? Unfortunately our search for good Chinese take out in the Largo Mall area continues which sucks because this place is super close to our new house & looked really nice. I have to say this place has a friendly staff and I usually find the food great. However the last two times I found that part of my food from the same container wasn't as hot and fresh as the other. It was like barely warm chicken under super hot chicken. Also there was hardly any sauce on it to the point I couldn't see it or barely taste it. I would still say give it a try. read more

To be honest, I'm surprised that there are bad reviews of China King. I've had their food at least six times now, and only found one offering to be less than great. So far I've had: crab rangoon, steamed dumplings, spring rolls, Kung Pao chicken, deluxe Lo Mein, General Tso's chicken, Szechaun style pork, sweet and sour chicken, pepper steak, and Moo Shu Pork. The only disappointment among the list were the spring rolls. They weren't as light & crispy as expected, and I'd probably skip them in the future. But, everything else has been sensational. I've ordered in-store for carryout/take home once, had food delivered all other times. Food was hot and fresh each time it was delivered, and within the quoted timeframe. All the food is flavorful, fresh, and hot. It's far and away the best Chinese (or Americanized/New York style Chinese) that I've found in the Largo area. The Lo Mein, Moo Shu pork, and General Tso's chicken have been repeat orders, as well as the crab rangoon and steamed dumplings. Aside from excellent food, the people who run the business are attentive to detail. Request extra hoisin sauce for the Moo Shu pork? Check. Asked for medium spicy General Tso's? Check. Hot mustard packets thrown in? Check. They haven't missed a beat with any special requests. Note that the sweet and sour chicken is just fried tempura chicken with sauce, but no vegetables. And even dishes marked "hot" or "spicy" are very tame. But as noted, they will add heat if you ask. All in all China King is a top-notch eatery in Largo. They've earned my repeat business and I look forward to the next order. The only problem is, as a single person, what do I order and what do I skip? it's all great, so that's a nice problem to have.... read more

Then she gives all the other orders out, mine was sitting there the whole time. I mean come on if you can't treat everyone with respect what the point is even having a business. Hot & Sour soup is my go-to order at Chinese restaurants, so I've had my fair share from different establishments. Today was my first time ordering from China King and I can safely say it was the absolute worst I've ever had. The broth was flavorless, there was no heat, no sour... no taste. As if that wasn't bad enough, all that was in the soup was white button mushrooms, a few pieces of tofu and tons of cabbage, which I have never before encountered. There was no meat (pork is a staple of Hot & Sour), no egg, no Chinese mushrooms or other vegetables that are what one would normally expect. I paid $6 for a quart of soggy cabbage & mushrooms, ate a few bites and will toss the rest... so much for dinner. I didn't try anything else as I wanted a light meal, but if this is the best they can offer for a very common Chinese soup, I certainly won't be trying anything else. The food was tasty that I ordered thru grub hub. The only issue I had was with the king pao shrimp. There were 4 large shrimp and literally over a cup of celery, carrots and peanuts in the dish. The dish it came in was really small (compared to others I have had before). I would not order that again. I eat small portions and it was ok to me, but other people might be left wanting more. I took a photo of the bowl so you can reference size with my fork. Sorry I forgot to take a photo before I served dinner. The House Fried Rice, Chow Me Fun, Springrolls and Sweet and Sour Chicken were all good and much larger portions. read more

This is a recent entry in the area and a very good choice for a Chinese take out place. Very convenient to Publix and Home Depot as they are right between them. Called them a couple of times tonight to inquire about their menu. Each time the person was very helpful. I had heard that the food was awesome. The portions were a good size. In fact we could have had the smaller portions. This was the only thing that I can say not as a negative but I ordered a small Sweet and Sour Chicken bu5 the lady suggested I order the large. Th3 large is way too much. Not complaining but now I will know for the next time. And she did a substitution without upcharging or telling me no. We will be back for sure . So, I moved from NY to Florida in 1982 ( almost makes me a native) and have long since quit whining about finding a decent pizza pie. The water and all that stuff. But Chinese, I know every restaurant in China Town NYC, been to them all. Came to Florida, and no insult to Saigon food, but every supposed Chinese restaurant or take out place....ain't Chinese. Then I found this little gem one day waiting for my wife shopping at Publix in the strip stores alongside Home Depot in Largo. One taste and I was transported back to Grand and Allen St ! Savory broth, large slices of beef, fresh veggies...mouth watering. Everything on the menu is fresh made and delicious. Unfortunately we are moving out of the area towards Orlando, if I can't convince them to move with us, I am going to have to invest in one of those big Yetti coolers. Typical hole in the wall Chinese restaurant that opened up not so long ago by our house. Food was pretty good and satisfying also still hot when it arrived at our house which is always a plus in delivery. That being said it took forever for the delivery guy to get to our house and ended up with me on the phone with him giving him turn by turn directions to get there at all. Kinda sad but I had to have given him the address at least 20 times on the phone. In the end though the food made up for it and I only deducted a single star from the review with the mental note to next time go and pick it up myself. read more

This by far is the worst place I've ever order Chinese food from. Placed an order online at 7 PM got a response that my order would not be delivered until 8 PM which was OK being that my daughters didn't get home until 8 PM. Around 830 my order still had not arrived, mind you I'm only three minutes away from this location. I called and the person who answered the phone told me that the driver left 20 minutes ago, again I'm only about three minutes from this location. So I told the person who answered the phone that I no longer wanted the order because by this time the food would be cold. She and some other guy went on and on talking in their language, of course I didn't understand, and still would not refund me my $67. So I went to the location to retrieve my refund that way, standing up there at the counter for almost 15 minutes her and the same guy argued back-and-forth about issuing me my money back. I would definitely not be ordering from this place again. The reviews were good is why I decided to give them a try but their response time and customer service sucks. To put the icing on the cake, I seen the other lady in the back empty food from a container back into the grease as if she was about to re-fry or re-cook that order that had already been placed. Ordered from them a few times and the delivery was said to be 35-45 minutes. Every single time it came in 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. Food is mediocre at best but the delivery time is horrific. One star review for overall service and failure to get better or fix the cold delivery food. read more

We have tried three different Chinese takeout places in the area over the last several months. They all were very "okay." We decided to give China King a chance after receiving a mailer announcing their grand opening. Oh my! This stuff is so good. The crab rangoon were unlike any other takeout rangoon. The eggrolls were full of meat and larger than normal. Delivery time was around 1 hour for a Sunday night, but the high quality and large portions of food made up for it. read more
