It's buffet style serving and the contents offered are always fresh. Been a good while since I've been there and they may have changed things around. Time for me to go pay them a visit so I can leave a better review, lol read more

Their buffet is the best, cheap not over priced like others, taste better than any Chinese buffet, chicken on stick so yummy, pepper chicken are crunchy and soft inside, however, not too many menu and limited time only (like 11-3). read more

BUG IN FOOD!!!! DON'T EAT HERE!!!! I ate here for lunch buffet and had a horrible experience. My mother showed the worm to the waitress and she then showed it to the lady at the cash register...who I'm assuming is the manager. Not only was there a worm in the food but the manager never even apologized or acknowledged the bug in the food. My family and I used to come here frequently but sadly with how we were treated today and finding the food unclean we will NEVER BE BACK. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone! If I could give 0 starts I stars I would. read more

We eat at the buffet for lunch and order takeout for dinner. Everything is always hot, fresh and delicious. Health rating is 98-100/100. Smallish seating area but good turnover. Staff are professional and courteous. Prices are very reasonable. I enjoy eating here - probably one of best Chinese restaurants in town. read more

My wife loves their lunch buffet options and I love to order from their diversified menu. The food is always amazing!!! The portions from the menu are huge (enough for next day layovers), and price is very affordable! We either dine or takeout from China Garden once a week. The seating is fine, but nothing fancy...which is fine. Service is good! If you love Chinese food, you'll really like this restaurant...enjoy!!! read more

The food was horrible and cold every was soggy. I tried to tell the owner/manager how something was wrong with the buffet maybe not working with the heating elements she was clearly offended and took nothing I said into consideration she replied very confused and was like "I check ery hourrr!" No cold" so I just smiled and paid regrettably. Wouldn't feed this crap to my dog. Never again. read more

I've always have gotten takeout from here. The soups are always great. The egg rolls are nice done and size is larger than the rest. I got kung po chicken combo and the veggies were fresh and the chicken was nicely seasoned. Would recommend. read more

Half of the food is cold on the buffet. We've been to the bar a couple times and our waitress hasn't offered us a refill, but she found time to sit down and socialize with a customer. read more

ok to start, house special lo mein, noodle soggy, shrimp undercooked, chicken limp and beef non existant. egg drop, bland and tasteless. pot stickers had to be cut with a knife and left to soak in sauce. my kid took the rice and dropped it in the compost heap, glad we di not spring for more then a pint of anythin, well my search in new bern goes on read more

I ordered from the menu online for delivery, Lobster Fried Rice. With taxes, other charges an tip bill was $25. What I received was Shrimp Fried Rice (I'm allergic to Shrimp. I spoke with the lady at the restaurant and she kept saying they called me and told me they didn't have Lobster Fried Rice and that I told them to substitute with Shrimp Fried Rice and I told her why would I agree to that know I was allergic. She would not credit my card for the order. She then said Grub Hub was actually the one who told her to substitute. I will never order again! read more

This is my favorite Chinese place ever. I used to come here with my mom as a teen and it's been a favorite ever since. We usually go for the buffet. It's smaller than the other buffet in town but all the top dishes are there, and the quality and taste is much better. Servers are friendly and attentive. The crab Rangoon on the dinner buffet is to die for! read more

Food is always great. Dining area clean. Staff pleasant and helpful. Take out available and always ready on time and as ordered.

My family and I travel all over from Ohio to Florida and China Garden Restaurant is very good. I would recommend this restaurant as one of the Best Chinese Buffets that we have eaten at in a long time. I can't imagine where else you could get such a good Chinese Buffet at the Price they charge ($7.50 per person). In Wilmington, N.C. The same buffet goes from $9.95 and up and further in Myrtle Beach, S.C. You would be over that even more and not have the excellent Chinese food that they serve here at China Garden. I did read the other reviews from locals on here and maybe they came on a bad night or something, but, maybe they should try again. The food was very fresh and filled as soon as it was getting low. No dried out food here. My wife and I liked how they kept small portions available, so the food did not dry out. Well done. . If you are passing through New Bern, like we were, stop and enjoy China Garden Restaurant. You will enjoy every bit of it. Bob from Rocky Point, N.C. read more

Ok. This is a nice place for quality and quantity Chinese buffet. Prices are really reasonable and learning now, come after 2:30 for lunch as chances the food from lunch rush will be in process of being refilled. Asked to see buffet before sitting down. Food items are allowed to get quite low before refilling starts. The wait staff is a mixed bunch, some will go out of their way to refill waters or drinks and bring more napkins, while a few others will see you sitting with little water or beverage in glass and it takes a "excuse me Miss" to get her to ask you if you want more water or need something. You get the feeling your bothering her. Instead of bringing a pitcher with water and ice and refill your glass, one waitress just brings a glass of water/ drink and from that refills your glass. You actually have to ask for more ice. Sometimes you only see her twice at your table, bringing you drink and taking order, and bringing the check. This, in my opinion, is not a place for 5 tables together ((group), the place is small and the conversation coming from the large group can be heard all through the restaurant. Hard to have a conversation, with your meal partner, without practically screaming across the table. All in all I feel the food and prices are really nice, and we'll worth eating there. read more

I'm not the first person to jump up for Chinese buffet restaurants...however this restaurant is a good choice if that's what you're looking for. Good flavor and a fair offering of popular Chinese (Americanized) dishes. The Hunan Pork is pretty good. Service is friendly and prompt too! read more

The ONLY reason I'm giving this place a one star is because the service was OK. The food was absolutely sub par. The only food item that seemed edible was the banana that the owner was eating at the register. It must have been her own personal banana for I did not see it from the maximum of 10 dishes at the buffet. If you are thinking about eating here, PLEASE Think about it, do you really want to take the chance of being extremely disappointed or go to food lion next door and buy a sandwich and a bundle of bananas and be extremely satisfied. Do not do this to yourself. I hope this review helps. read more

Its pretty great food for the price. 7 bucks will get you a container of food and soup of anything you want from the buffet. I live nearby and a couple of Marines and myself like to grab some food here after drinking because they stay open pretty late. Its typically a pretty packed joint, their salt and pepper shrimp and green beans are my favorite. For soup, I go for the hot and sour soup. Can't go wrong for the price and frankly its some of the best Chinese in the area if not the best. read more

Well..i definately do not recommend..they tell you what you can and cannot put in your takeout conainers after you have already paid. I put 2 dumplings in a bowl that was given instead of the styrofoam box and was told it woud be an additional dollar because i didso. After getting home, my boyfriend found a piece of glass in his rice..i would attach a pic if i was able..dont ever go here unless you want the hateful lady at the register make your blood boil.. read more

We eat quite regularly. A favorite with my teenaged sons. Good dang thing, since they can eat a ton of food. The menu has changed slightly to include fried whiting and Singapore Noodles. The Singapore Noodles are very spicy. They'll cut back on the curry if you ask them to. I only order carry-out, so I donotknow how the buffet is. I know eveytime I have been there to get my food, other people were waiting for take-out, too. read more

Service was terrible!!! Food taste as it has been sitting out for 5 hours, rewarmed for days, and looked old the waitresses had bad attitudes. They were whipping noses and touching utensils without washing hands!! Didn't exchange old dishes until I mentioned is this old??! Woman Had an attitude and pointed to the glass and told me LOOK @ THE SIGNS. Obviously this is no place for ppl to spend money to eat . Big waist of money and a waist of my time! Floors were dirty and no one wears gloves even after it being mentioned to the cooks and manager. Very unsanitary and wasn't worth a penny of my money. Never eating here again. They need to go out of business! Don't like washing hands, nor putting fresh dishes out! Here's a tip: Don't ever come at me wrong , clean up your restaurant then talk shit fuck this place my health is the most important should've went to HIBATCHI THEY CARE AND SERVE FRESH FOOD DAILY plus it smells very delightful in this place catch up . read more
