The food is the best Asian option in Lenoir NC, if not the entire area. There is a reason, the place is busy, from open to close. The restaurant is a true mom & pop, family run business. They offer delivery services, and have tables inside, but mostly get used as a waiting area for to go orders. I suggest calling ahead for large pickup orders, as wait times can be up to 20 minutes. I see all the other reviews and I have to say I was very satisfied with my order of 5 egg rolls, shrimp egg foo young and Mongolian beef! All was very flavorful, came with fried rice and it made me a happy camper. These guys have owned it all along and since they have been in business I know of two times they have had B ratings. B's!!! Seriously. It's nasty inside, the owners scream and are rude, they have one kind of sauce- brown and that's it. Even if you order shrimp. It comes with...you guessed, it harsh brown sauce. So enter Jasmine Restaurant on Hwy 18 in the Food Lion shopping center. We never ate there because we didn't think it would be good. Boy were we wrong! It's delicious and very authentic tasting. We lived in Lenoir for over 11 years and China Garden was the only place that we ate at regularly throughout that whole time. Good food joints in Lenoir are limited but if you like good, honest Chinese food at a great price, and don't mind a basic set up for the restaurant, then you can't go wrong. Sunday brunch at China Garden became a regular feature of our week and we often ordered take out after a long day at work with no more energy to face cooking. Service was always fast and friendly, and I loved the diversity of clientele in the place. Have watched their kids grow up and listened as they spoke with customers in both English and Spanish, often knowing exactly what they wanted because they were regulars. We really miss this place now that we don't live there but have popped in for a visit and some great food on the rare occasion when we've been back in town since we moved a little over a year ago. We love the handmade/homemade crab ragoons here!!! The food is very affordable and you get a very large portion for what you pay. The house lo mien was great as well, lots of meat and veggies. This place is just your everyday run of the mill American Chinese restaurant. There was nothing special about the menu. And the dumplings were doughy and horrible. I did think the fried wontons were okay. But generally there was nothing too special about the food. There was so much almost raw onion in the fried rice, it was pretty much all you could taste. And raw onion is just not something I associate with good food. It wasn't horrible. But again, not great. I wouldn't recommend it, but I suppose it would do if you really were wanting this type of food. I most likely will not be going back though. Also, it was an absolute wreck. I guess the owners kids work there after school. And they had all there school stuff spread out across 2 tables. And what you could see off the kitchen could really use a good scrub. read more

I see that this place has two five star reviews. Seriously? We were greeted at the counter by a less than enthusiastic young man who seemed more bothered than pleased to be there. The food was on par with what I can get in the freezer section of Walmart and certainly no better. We had the General Tso's chicken, Kung Pao chicken and fried dumplings, none of which tasted fresh. I requested green onions on my order and the lady said no. I said, do you not have green onions? She said no they are in there. I told her that I knew that but I like extra for the rice. She said no again. I couldn't believe it. So I got my order, with no green onions, and the chicken was fried for so long that it was like a bowl of rocks. Rude and disgusting food. read more
