Mixed dinner

Food was okay/ bland. A lot of msg & breading on the chicken. It was good / fine. The red sauce had very high amts of vinegar in it. Over all I would suggest sweet and sour chicken combos ... chicken egg rolls were good.

Service was good, food was lacking. Ordered spring rolls that tasted good, crab ragoons only had cream cheese no crab meat, sesame chicken was super tough ( over cooked ) and chicken in fried rice was equivalent to rubber

Yang Chow Fried Rice Young Chow

Without a doubt, the best Almond Boneless Chicken in Traverse City. Enjoyed the Seafood Wor Bar and Yang Chow Fried Rice as well. Don't come for the ambiance (70's decor but comforting for me) just the food. Large portions too with leftovers. For those more picky, remember this is Cantonese classic dishes that were Americanized.

I have been coming here for decades, quality has never changed from great. Owner is very friendly. I recommend the egg drop soup.

Dined there for the second time this evening. Arrived earlier tonight than the first time on…read moreFather's Day. The selections were more robust, tasty and plentiful. Buffets kill me because if they're good I just wish I could bring a spare stomach. We started with a variety of fresh sushi, seconds from the other side, egg roll, shrimp in at least 5 or 6 treatments, green beans, chicken, pepper steak, etc. Finished off with various fresh and canned fruit slices including lychees, puddings, cakes. Just the thing to top off the main courses. I give it 4.5 stars due to the lackluster decor. But the wait staff is friendly and not pushy. No silly masks either. People are smiling again. Hooray!!! I forgot to take photos I was so hungry that all I could think about was biting in. Prices are reasonable because you can eat yourself to death here. Totally worth it compared to a lot of what's out there these days.

I always try to explain my review having more stars than perhaps it would in reality, if that makes…read moresense. This is a Chinese buffet. It is an all you can eat buffet. For people who have not had actual primo, well prepared Asian cuisine, I've never seen anyone not enjoy and tell me that they absolutely loved every single dish. This is what it is. It's only $14 for lunch, and if you went to one of the commercial burger places, you would expect that amount on just a regular basket with fries, drink and a burger. Here people get to eat as much as they want. Having explained this, I hope that you understand why I give the stars that I do for this place. It's because they were clean and there was nothing wrong with any of the dishes that I saw or tried . I particularly only like a few. I might like more if the food was hotter temperature wise. I have been to Asian buffets, particularly in Cheboygan and their food was a lot hotter, even though it's in the hot water baths or however, they're heating it. I prefer to have my food served hotter for many reasons. It is more tasty, it kills bacteria and any food problems like that. I'm sure that if they have these heated too high, it also breaks down the vegetables quickly. But I feel that this is a necessary requirement with the buffet food especially. I do love the hibachi style being available. You can add whatever you want, and the hibachi chef will fry it and add whatever sauces you'd like so that's my favorite. That's the main reason I go here, but the reason my sister always insist on returning Here is because "she likes to pig out". I see that many people do. That's what these buffets are. I think in the past like in the 70s they actually used to even put smorgasbord on the sign now everyone knew what that meant. I find that the servers are nice and it's always a very friendly ambience here so that along with the cleanliness and the fact that people look extremely happy that they "got to pig out" I give this place a four.. and really why would I come and eat again and again at a place that I didn't feel was a safe safe or sufficient lunch? I would not.

My fiancee and I have been here twice, once for a normal dinner and once for their Sunday dim sum service. The spring rolls are probably my favorite dish on the menu, but literally everything we have tried was phenomenal. Some highlights, besides the spring rolls, are the crudo and chicken wings. This is the standard by which every restaurant should operate. I want to address some critiques I've seen in the reviews about the new menu: I have never tried the old menu, but I have lived in NYC and Orlando--both of these cities have extremely high-quality Vietnamese cuisine. Literally some of the best in the world. I rarely speak in absolutes, but I have absolutely no problem unequivocally stating that The Good Bowl is the best Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to and has the best spring rolls I've ever had.

The menu has changed, per the waitstaff and manger, and one of the original owners has left. The fried chicken appetizer is now a glaze instead of the delicious crunchy dry rub and much smaller portions. All the portions were smaller which I could understand, but the quality of the dishes is not even close to the original. The prices have also increased. The waitstaff is still amazing and trying to accommodate, but my first suspicion was being able to get a reservation after 5:00 during the summer. Should have known.
