Spencer Chase is a scammer. I wish I had read the recent reviews before paying him…read more I hired Spencer for assistance for a Chinese Visa application. Similar to other reviewers here, he initially seemed very responsive and knowledgeable, but then the delays and excuses started. Since he has had legitimate experience in this field, his excuses seemed reasonable, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. In the end, they were all lies. Here is an incomplete list of the excuses he used: "Waiting for the pickup notification" "Should be today or tomorrow" "It will definitely be next week" "They are a little backlogged at the Consulate" "Should be any day" "Will contact you soon, at the consulate now" "Should be getting the pickup ticket tomorrow" "They are prioritizing business first, ticket applicants second, and non-ticket applicants like yours third" "This delay is not typical" "Your application was batched with a tourism order last week" "I've been using all methods to try to get this done as soon as possible and it will be completed this week" "I got the pick up date and it's for next Thursday" "I just received one for another case that was submitted shortly before yours so it looks like we're almost there" All of these excuses sounded believable and made the process sound like it was always tantalizingly close to completion, but every one of these updates was a lie. Every. Single. One. I was a fool to have believed him. I hired Spencer in July when he promised it would be done in 2-3 weeks. I had to threaten him with legal action in order to recover my passport in November (4 months later, still with no visa in hand). After getting my passport back, I went to the consulate myself. The whole process took just 40 minutes (mostly waiting in line). It makes my blood boil just thinking about how Spencer strung me along for 4 agonizing months because he couldn't have bothered to go to the consulate for a mere 40 minutes. He exploited my inexperience and took advantage of my patience. My advice for anyone applying for a Chinese visa: do it yourself. The consulate updated their online application process in October 2025 so it's much smoother. If there is anything missing in your application, they'll tell you online exactly what you need. When it's time to submit your passport to the consulate in person, you just need to drop off the passport. The processing is super fast now because they've already reviewed everything online. And you don't have to pay a penny until your actually pick up your passport with the visa. Even worse than wasting your money and time, Spencer will ruin your travel plans and your mental health. He never planned on completing the work. Please don't make the same mistake I did.

However, with no work completed and no updates, Spencer ghosted me when I called, multiple times. Eventually, I submitted the application by myself in April 2024 and asked for the refund. Spencer agreed to the full amount of $5,025 in May 2024, and promised to pay me gradually, but I have only received 1 payment, in amount of $200 on 5/28/2024. Until today, Bow Joy Services still owes me $4,825. I filed complaint via BBB, the complaint was closed with no answer from the business. I am bringing Bow Joy Services to SF Small Claims Court, but the Sheriff's office couldn't serve the defendant. What kind of person ignores Sheriff's notices or a court order?? Feel free to check for court documents on SF Small Claims Case Calendar: https://webapps.sftc.org/cc/CaseCalendar.dll?=&SessionID=D5E2D70387A13C09417EA608B4977BC76FC4B29C Date: 10/28/2024 1:30 PM Case Number: CSM-24-868867 I have suffered enough with this business, I hope there will be no more victims like me.

8 MORE days till the Tax Filing DEADLINE…read more.. The last 2 years, I used Liberty Tax Service to file my taxes because it was nearby my old apartment. However, that convenience came at a cost of $75-$85 AFTER a $20 discount and I only had a W2. :/ Last month, while I was at Silk Nail Salon, I told several of the girls that I have yet to file my taxes. I mentioned that I've been using Liberty Tax Service and the cost of it and then a sudden gush of *gasps* occurred. One of the girls suggested that I go to Chinatown instead to get my taxes done. Uhhhh, Chinatown?!?!? I was very skeptical to say the least but she told me several of them got their taxes done there and it was legit. Plus, it would cost a fraction of what I pay Liberty Tax Service so it was worth a shot. On Thursday, April 7, 2011, I came to M&L Services at around 9 AM. M&L is located at the touristy part of Grant Ave in Chinatown not at some back alley which I somehow had the misconception of where it would be. Their small office shares a building with other small businesses (e.g. Travel Agency). Three employees work at M&L Services and I had to wait about 5 minutes to be seen (no appointment). Maggie helped me file my taxes. She was professional, friendly and the whole process took about 7 minutes. One of my biggest concerns was the possible langauage barrier because of my broken Canto but that wasn't a problem as 2 of the 3 employees spoke fluent English. After she was done plugging in the numbers she informed me of my Federal and State Tax Return which was going to be my largest return yet! And the best thing? It ONLY cost me $25!!! WHOOO HOOOO!!!! Our appointment was in SF and at 10:50am. We showed up around 9:45am to avoid lines and Johanna said she was on her way. We go upstairs and were waiting to get called in for our interview and Johanna still didn't show up. My wife called her and she said she was downstairs with 2 clients. First of all we paid her to help us for the time we agreed upon. We then get called 35 minutes early for our interview and my wife was nervous because she would have failed the test for our interview. Luckily the interviewee spoke english and spanish, so that helped us alot. After that we called Johanna for a refund and she said no. We paid for nothing because we didn't even see her that day. Johanna is a nice person on the phone, but make sure when you pay her, pay her after the service because we felt robbed.
