LOVED the fried wings, lo mein and fried rice! Everything was always correct when I ordered and the delivery was super fast!

Absolutely horrible experience. We ordered two orders ochicken lo mein, My husband came in and order it. We live about 40 minutes away from the Duluth area. We heated it up and started to eat it. My very first impression was something is WRONG with this. So I stopped eating and didn't say anything. My husband then set his fork down. I asked him how his lo mein was and he said "There's something wrong with it" We both took another bite and we knew we couldn't eat it. I called China Cafe and I was tossed from one person to another. Then left to sit and listen to the rumble of the phone being set down. One of the employees came back and said: "The cook said he made it the same as always". NO HE DIDN'T. They wanted us to bring it back. We are done with China Cafe! Thank God Bejing across the street is close to re-opening again after their devastating fire. Trust me, go to Bejing when they open. They are awesome and so is their customer service. I wouldn't have given China Cafe one star but I had no choice. read more

I order the king pao chicken, was really disappointed when the chicken wasn't even spicy. The chicken was mush, the vegetables were barely cooked and my peanuts weren't cooked at all. This is my first time ordering from here and I'm sorely disappointed! read more

My main complaint is that it's more expensive than almost the exact same meal at Chopsticks (and I'm comparing delivery at both places). When I get a combo at Chopsticks I can usually make two meals out of it. But with China Cafe I got only one meal worth of food for the same price. The food at China Cafe also seems more oily. Very disappointed. read more

This place has pretty good Chinese food. My boyfriend loved the General Tso's Chicken I got. It was so good to him that he wanted to go back again the next day for a double order! We also had fried wontons and chicken wings that were not too bad. We went here for lunch, so we got a meal deal. I wasn't terribly impressed with the fried rice or egg rolls. They seemed run-of-the-mill to me. The lo mein he got was not the best I've ever had, but overall it was OK. Other aspects of the restaurant: The service was good, the menu was expansive with lots of choices to be had, and the actual physical restaurant was pretty decent compared to most of the Chinese restaurants I've been in. If I had a hankering for Chinese in Duluth, I might go here again. But since there are so many other good restaurants around that area, I'd probably go somewhere else for different fare. read more

They have the best orange chicken but the fried rice is eh. The eggs roll taste like the frozen ones at the grocery store. Cream cheese won tons are only ok. The pot stickers and soups they serve are delicious. The price is about average for Chinese. The service of the staff is always great and friendly. read more

My husband and I come here pretty often as this is our first choice for Chinese in Duluth. The service is somewhat questionable, as the hostess usually is pretty short in patience but the food has always been good and their fried rice (chicken and pork, anyway) has always been awesome. I recommend their fried rice, my boyfriend is a huge fan. The prices are great here and the portions are really really large!. The establishment doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you enter it is bright and clean with lots of seating space. The egg rolls are great, my suggestion is to mix the duck sauce and spicy mustard as a dipping sauce (both at the table) but watch out the mustard is crazy hot! read more

Massive portions, had the cantonese chow mein which was unique and good, vegetable chow mein was dissappinting with lots of green pepper that overpowed everything. Ginger beef was fantastic and we also really enjoyed the beef fried rice. It was "old fashioned" fried rice, nice and dark with lots of flavor not the usual chinese buffet style rice you see everywhere. The rice was truly awesome. We also had the homemade eggrolls and wished we had ordered more as they are some of the best ive had. Ive eaten here twice and will definately eat here again. Not a fancy place, very reasonable pricing. The above items fed my family of 5 and had a ton left over. Enjoy. read more

I have ordered the same dish from this restaurant dozens of times. I was never told it comes with white rice exclusively, no up-charge or substitution for fried rice being allowed. Last time I ordered I stated that I've ordered it dozens of times and never been told that, the employee spoke with "management" regarding my order and informed me they will substitute fried rice for white rice for "some people" but I would need to order a pint of it if I wanted some. For Duluth it's alright. I'd give the food 3 stars but the service is really good so I threw 4 up there. I always order online and my food is ready in 15 minutes which is great. The prices are reasonable too which is important for college students like myself. If your expecting some authentic Chinese food this obviously isn't the place. read more

Great food, nothing too much out of the ordinary from other local Chinese spots, but the portions were large and definitely worth the money! We ordered the sesame chicken, chicken fingers, pork fried rice, egg rolls, wontons, and beef lo mien. The beef was tender which I was happy for, the sweet and sour sauce was really good, and the sesame chicken was probably our favorite! Fed 6 people and everyone has enough for leftovers! They delivered to us at our hotel, it all comes in microwavable containers which is helpful if you have a microwave for all of your leftovers. We would order from them again! read more

I just order dinner to night after being gone for 3 months because my favorite Chinese Place Beijing was closed on Monday's. I was so very unhappy with the food that costed 30.00 plus tip. I don't get how people don't see the food that they are putting out there to see if it even looks good. So disappointed and will never ever order food from here again!! My favorite Asian food spot in Duluth, when it comes to take out. You can order ahead of time, however; wait time isn't too long when you walk-in. I recommend trying the "spicy salt pepper chicken wings" if you like salty-spicy food :). Very tasty! The Fried Rice is also pretty good with your choice of meat. read more

I have ordered here for years. This last time, the sweet and sour sauce was runny/watered down, the chicken fried rice had no flavor and the chicken lo mien smelled and tasted like cigarette smoke. New in the area and first time to order was this week. Ordered from the dinner special menu the Sesame Chicken, Gen Tso Chicken and Sweet/Sour chicken...all were very tasty and good sized portions. Ordered Kun Pao Chicken from the regular menu and was pleased with it as well. Food arrived a quick 20 minutes after I placed the order. Best of all the phone waitress spoke English I could understand and was very knowledgeable about the menu items. Was a great choice for dinner I'm sure we'll order again. read more

I had the short ribs as an appetizer. They had been reheated. I then had the roast duck. That was much better. The waitress was more interested in talking on her cell phone rather than providing service. When she finally got around to giving me the check, she never came back - again on her cell phone. Came here for lunch about 1:30 PM on Wednesday very disappointed ordered green pepper steak with tomato sauce is very light in color and the meat is Made out of something I can't recognize, possibly tofu or soy. After waitress plopp the food down in front of me disappeared I could hear her and see her talking to other employees in I'm guessing Chinese. She never came back to check on me one time or ask how the food was. Restaurant was extremely hot inside. Just before I was to leave the restaurant and the waitress came out and I told her I needed the duck sauce that had not been on the table since she removed it when I sat down. This restaurant uses MSG and, contrary to what our waitress says, I get very ill when I have this chemical. China Cafe uses it in most of the food they prepare on sight except the steamed vegetables. If you have a problem with it you have limited options for other things to eat. I had the hamburger which is purchased from the restaurant supplier. My husband had the Moo Goo Gai Pan with an egg roll. He said the egg roll was pretty good and the entree was above average. read more

Good food at reasonable prices. Ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan lunch special which comes with Fried Rice and an EggRoll. While the fried rice was mediocre, the Moo Goo Gai Pan had lots of white meat chicken and fresh vegetables. The EggRoll was delicious. Also tried the Spicy Salt&Pepper Wings which were crispy and flavorful. Definitely worth a visit. read more
