We moved here from the PNW and love some Chinese food when having a lazy day. We found Cantonese House and wasn't expecting anything great just based on location, but oh my goodness! Their sauces for their foods are delicious! We ended up ordering take out from here three times more after our first visit all within a short amount of time. My family has been going to the Cantonese house since the early 80's. Not only is the Cantonese house my favorite place to eat, lots of family memories have been made there. I have been eating here since I was a kid. I am NEVER disappointed. Egg Rolls are my favorite. FINALLY egg rolls that aren't stuffed with nothing but cabbage. The dipping sauce can't be found anywhere else and is out of this world. I normally order egg foo young, fried rice, egg rolls, beef chow mein, chicken wings etc. Everything has always been delicious and the owners and staff are very nice and very attentive. What can I say? They try... Sauce for the dishes I got were descent. Pretty much the same sauce, just different protein. Similar veggies too. Lots of broccoli, so if you like broccoli, you'll be good with this place. I believe they forgot the water chestnuts with the pork dish, but who knows, it could've been that I didn't order the right dish number. Fortune cookie had a nice vanilla flavor to it, but it wasn't really a fortune inside...just sort of a nice comment. I've eaten fancy and greasy spoon Chinese food all over the country. And live in Portland Oregon and eat out all the time. This is the best Chinese food I've had in 5+ years. I'm not sure who made the first review, but I thought the food was really good! Mongolian beef was outstanding! The sweet and sour chicken was probably the best I've ever had. I wasn't in love with the cream cheese wontons, but I really liked the egg roll. Also they have this really great tea, if you are into tea. Lol! I guess the UK has more of an influence on me than I originally thought. Yikes! The place looks really sketch. Clearly they haven't attempted a renovation recently. It's a sleeper! Egg foo yung tasted like old grease. Egg rolls were disgusting. Celery was the main ingredient - couldn't find the chicken.

$36 for basically two cold barely edible egg rolls & order of potstickers. Also, the prices are not posted on the online menu. My fault for not checking but honestly, couldn't eat anything else I ordered because: Shrimp fried rice: shrimp was not deveined and was not going to eat and chance getting sick eating shrimp poop tracks. Cream cheese wontons: wontons tasted rancid due to dirty oil and were extremely thick. BBQ Pork egg foo young: extremely watery-spongy and gravy was not cooked and very floury tasting. Not a pleasant flavor. BBQ fried rice: very bland and close to 1/3 being bean sprouts w/ very little meat. Very disappointing experience. We ended up having to eat a bowl of popcorn and sandwich because it was late. I wanted to like it, but sorry... it was real bad and there are much better Chinese places to go. Our family ordered take out tonight and tried the Cantonese House. We ordered chicken wings, 3 orders of egg rolls, Shrimp Foo Young and Wonton Soup. Chicken wings were okay, nothing special. Shrimp Foo Young was horrible. It was without flavor, shrimp was not throughly cooked and the gravy was extremely starchy. The Wonton Soup was horrible and the egg rolls were pathetic and easily the worst we have ever tasted. Most of the meal was inedible and was garbaged. Our price tag was $30.00 most was trash. This was the worst Asian meal we have ever had. Based on the poor quality of all the items I would never give this restaurant another try. read more

There pot stickers was great. The meat filling was seasoned well. The orange chick had good flavor but no sauce but for what was on only half of the battered chucked chicken. The wait for beef chow fun and green pepper steak dinner combination took 25 min despite near closing time. The food is a huge disappointment. Ordered a burger, the 'meat' is a pale gray and smells off, the cheese is small and plastic-like. My fries had no salt and tasted like overused oil. When I called to ask what meat it is (I thought I got a soy burger or something on accident) they said it was hamburger and when I complained about the color and smell she just said it's hamburger and it's unfortunate that I don't like it. I took my son to Duluth for a surprise road trip. He loves great asian food, as do I. We ordered takeout. My son ordered shrimp lo mein and I had Kung Po Chicken. WOW, the WORST food I've had in a VERY long time. They charged extra for the shrimp which came rubbery, tiny and grey. There was little to no chicken in my dish and neither dish tasted like anything but maybe dish soap. For the two of us, our bill was over $35 dollars and we ended up not being able to eat it! I usually give places two tries but this was so bad, I will NEVER eat here again. It's been two days and I'm still mad that I waisted my money on this terrible place. read more

We ordered take out. Each of the 3 of us chose Combinations which came in styrofoam container with the rice and everything in one except the egg rolls were in separate wax bag. I ate one bite of thin, overdone egg roll and gave the rest to my sister who liked it much better than I did. Her egg fu young she said was "fine". My chicken almond ding was disappointing, and at first thought they gave me pork instead of chicken. Admittedly, small diced vegetables make me sad because I like the crunch and texture variety you get when they are chopped the average, more home style way. I expected more almonds and more chicken also. The few little balls of sweet and sour chicken were very tasty, but seemed more like orange chicken than sweet and sour. Brother with big appetite was still hungry after eating all his, and all he would say is "you can't ruin rice when you make it all day every day", and he wished we got pizza instead. Cream cheese wontons are a huge treat to me, so these strange ones disappointed me most of all. Tough wrappers folded over into business card sized rectangles with dab of flavorless cream cheese and deep fried into toughness were not worth eating! Awwwwww. The carton of dipping sauce: was it for egg rolls? Wontons? Was thin, pale yellow and lacked flavor. Forty dollars worth of pizza would have been a more satisfying choice we all agreed. We were in the mood for some good food but this was NOT. We had it delivered and it came to us burnt, I mean you could smell it as soon as you opened the bag up. I ordered the sesame chicken and it was soaked and mushy with no sauce. It's like they took sesame seeds and just sprinkled the seeds over the chicken. My pork fried rice was so burnt and hard...how can you screw up rice? Anyways, our other choice off the menu was the sweet and sour chicken which came in a box with 4 1/2 small nuggets and yet more burnt pork fried rice. Also for what we ordered it was expensive, this is not a $ but a $$ atleast! I called them to complain and they told me it can't be and what do you want us to do about it.
