When I walked in I learned it was a buffet, not particularly what I was looking for, but I since I was there I decided to roll the dice. Limited offering on the Hot Line, but also a Salad Line and some deserts. Started with the egg drop soup, it was average but nice and hot. Mein looked like it had been there all day, so I passed on one of my favorites. Lots of fried foods dripping in oil. The sesame chicken was the best hot dish, along with the black pepper chicken they were the only thing worth mentioning, or eating. I asked for Oolong tea and received a cup of "dark tea" not sure what it was but for sure it wasn't Oolong and too dark for green tea. The place was old and showing wear, probably could have used a good power washing of the entire interior. Staff was friend and relative attentive. Total tab was $10.90, so I sure can't complain about the prices. But I doubt this will receive a return trip when I'm in Marshalltown. But on a Monday night...

It was delicious! The egg drop soup was also very good. My husband had the Kung Pao Chicken, which he loved! I had the shrimp and broccoli. The shrimp was delicious! I should know better by now not to order broccoli. It's always too crisp/raw for me. The outside of the building shows that it used to be a bank many years ago. Salad bar, soups, pizza, pasta, thanksgiving style entrees, prime rib, desserts etc. nothing stood out as too spectacular but there was plenty of variety. Yes it was busy but lots of the food on the buffet were nearly empty. They didn't replenish them while I was there. The cherry tomatoes on the salad bar were wrinkly and obviously not fresh. The guy dishing up pies had a mess of pies and cakes behind the counter and you could tell he was just over his busy day. He was the only employee at the dessert station that was busy. Our waitress who got our drinks and cleared plates was the only reason for the second star. She was polite and friendly. She kept us with full drinks. Thank you Ecstacy! You were the only bright spot of our visit. I don't think any of us in our party of 15 will be back anytime soon.
