There was a little pork in the sweet and sour pork. It was crispy and the bowl of sauce was gel. Both soups, egg drop and hot and sour must've come out of a can. Too much cornstarch and food color. No flavor in anything. We won't be back! The lady who took our order didn't smile. Didn't say thank you. They don't have ice or fountain drinks. Or iced tea. Glad we went for lunch so we didn't spend too much money.

China Cottage has officially become one of our regular spots!…read more We stopped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. The lunch specials are an incredible value--you get to choose a soup, salad, or spring roll as an appetizer in addition to your meal. I chose the egg drop soup, and I can honestly say it was the BEST egg drop soup I have ever had. It was flavorful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our visit, making the experience even better. The ambiance inside is warm, clean, and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal whether you're dining alone or with family and friends. If you're in the Hendersonville area, do yourself a favor and check out China Cottage. Great food, generous portions, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Let me start with the fact that I come from California where there are thousands of Chinese…read morerestaurants to choose from, due to the immense Chinese population there. So, sadly, I can't give Dragon Express top reviews. Since moving here 8 months ago, I've been on the search for a good, even decent, Chinese Restaurant and I have yet to find one. Mind you, I haven't done much searching in the greater Nashville area, yet. I've only been looking north of Hendersonville and Goodlettsville because that's as far as I'm willing to drive for for takeout :) This was a Take-Out order. I ordered some pretty "can't go wrong" dishes, like Sweet n Sour Pork, Chow mein, Black Pepper Beef and Pork Fried Rice. Sadly, only the Sweet n Sour Pork was decent, meaning it was not mostly batter. The fried rice was okay, but then again, you can't mess up rice and soy sauce. My go to dish at any Chinese place is Chow Mein & this was not very good. It was more like Lo Mein noodles with oyster sauce. That authentic flavor was not there. Even my 82yo laid back chinese-food-loving mom says, "this isn't very good." That made me laugh, since she's not very picky. I still gave it 3 stars, coz if you don't like ordering from a conglomerate, like Panda Express down the block from here, you can still come and get a decent Sweet n Sour Pork with fried rice combo and be content. My dad always said to me, "Taste the food first before you say you don't like it" So, Dad, I tasted it & I don't like it At least, I can check this place off the list now. If you're reading this, I would love some Chinese Restaurant recommendations if you have any. Thanks in advance!

I'm used to ordering Chinese at places that have it all made in dishes to pick from...SO since everything is made to order here I took a stab in the dark at menu items I was familiar with from other restaurants. We got the Broccoli Beef with Lo Mein and Orange Chicken with Fried Rice. We also ordered cheese wontons. The 2 dishes were SO good! The Lo Mein was probably my favorite part. Mmmmmmm yum. Generous portions. My husband and I shared both dishes with leftovers at the end. The wontons were just ok. I wouldn't order those again. A couple egg rolls somehow made it into my bag even though I didn't order them. Those were really good too. I'm excited to go back and try more things and get some more Lo Mein! Tip:call ahead and order for pickup so it's ready when you get there. Because they make everything to order it takes a little more time then I thought it would...which is great but I'll order before I get there next time! Need to grab a to go menu to keep at the house. The fried rice had no taste and was not fresh. I haven't had the egg roll yet but the smell when I looked in the bag was a sour smell. I'm afraid to even take a bite of it. This was my first and last time getting food there. Should have read reviews before I went there as that would have saved me 17 dollars for a lunch combo and the wonton.
