However, marking up alteration prices by approximately 50%-60% is simply not acceptable. I explain, "I have a QR code and need a package to mail my item in." He says, "grab the black bag." I don't see a black bag. Person in front of me turns around points to a floral print bag next to me. I get to counter and tell the guy again, "I have a QR code". He tries getting my information and then asks if the person behind me can cut in front of me, which was both odd and rude. She says, "that's okay". As he is taking my information I tell him a 3rd time that I have a QR code. He gets annoyed and says, "why didn't you tell me that?" I explain that I did. I almost walked out of the place. So I looked the service up and saw the five star reviews and thought it was safe to gamble on him. I call and got a receptionist, asked for the earliest appointment day and got the next day between 10 AM and 1 PM. He knocked on the door at 10 AM. That's outstanding. My afternoon was saved. The guy's tall, like 6'5", white, wears a blue collar service shirt, black New Balance shoes that looked steel toe. Has been in the business for over 20 years. He's professional in his conduct. Told me up front that it is an $89 service call to examine the oven and diagnose whether it is a quick fix or even if the whole thing needs to be replaced. So I watch him try turning the oven on and sees that it does not work. Then he takes off the oven door, I never knew how easy it was, no screws or locks, you just open it so that it's about 60 degrees from the floor and pull up. He plops a towel down on the floor to protect his knees, turns the oven light on and looks around, tests for voltage. He's diagnosis is quick. He knows the part that's bad. He tells me he needs to look it up in his truck. When he's back he says the whole job will be $271.58 ($105.41 for the part - which he has in his hand, $158.50 for the technical labor - it pays to know how). After I agree he goes about replacing the part. I did not know about the warming drawer underneath the oven. He had to open it to take off a part. He uses his screw drill (it takes off and on screws) and quickly replaces the part. Then tests out the oven. It works. Also, I had some problem with two of the burners. Food or grease got down and clogged the igniter but he cleaned it. All and all it took about 40 minutes. I would do it again knowing how it turned out. I am pleased with his performance. I consider him to be fast and professional.
