Been coming to Chill Nitro pretty frequently the last year or so after we had an event and got to try it. Every time we have come they have always been so nice and our drinks and ice cream are always delicious! My go to drink is the Carolina dirty soda, which is a cheerwine with vanilla and pineapple syrups, and coconut creamer. Absolutely 10/10 will always recommend. To switch it up I will also get the classic dirty soda, a Diet Coke with lime juice and coconut creamer, from time to time as well. Another 10/10. On our recent visit I also got an ice cream special they were doing for the month of June, Summer Camp Chaos. Toasted marshmallow ice cream with brownie pieces and graham crackers, topped with marshmallow and caramel drizzle. I did sub peanut butter drizzle for the caramel drizzle as a peanut butter lover and wow was it a game changer. This was such a good ice cream flavor for summer! read more

This is not your average ice cream shop they make everything with nitrogen. They can also add alcohol to your ice cream. They do have signature ice creams you can choose from or choose your own toppings. It was definitely something different I wouldn't say I loved it but I didn't hate it. The strawberry tasted just like regular strawberry ice cream and biscoff tasted more like cake batter than ice cream. This was our first time at Nitro and it was a warm night so it was great to try this place out and sit outside on their chairs! Even though it was a week night, it was still pretty busy. However, even though it was pretty busy, it was a fairly quick turn around for them to keep the line moving. A big part of this shop is the experience that you get from watching them make your ice cream. It was a very unique experience and cool to watch! The actual ice cream had a great proportion of toppings in every bite. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 stars is the price. Like I said, the experience was very cool and the ice cream tasted great, but it was quite pricey. And for that reason, I think I'm more likely to try other shops in town before I would come back. read more

The store was clean and it's always cool to see stores make nitrogen ice cream. Service was friendly and fast. Since this is downtown Winston, there is no dedicated parking lot. However, there is a parking lot nearby that advertises a handful of shops will validate parking - Chill Nitro being one of them. The validated parking is good for up to 2 hours. read more

Came during what should've been business hours but they were closed. Double checked hours on Yelp, their website and everything. Several other people also came up and puzzled for them to be closed. Won't be back. UPDATE: I received an apology and an offer to return and redeem a free treat from the business owner, as she was apparently running late in a meeting. I doubt I'll be taking her up on this, as my schedule is busy and the shop is out of my way, but I do want to say that while I appreciate the apology and the offer, I stand by my review because this is no way to run a business. The moment I walked in, I was greeted right away--always a good start! Looking at the menu, it seemed like everything was alcohol-infused, but when I asked, they assured me there were regular options too. My son got cookies and cream, and I went with pineapple sorbet topped with raspberries. Now, I won't lie--it's not cheap. Two small ice creams set me back nearly $19, which felt a bit wild. (I work around the corner -- they're great neighbors too.) The Mrs & I went to WS for dinner, and I've wanted to try this place for a while now. So glad we did, it exceeded my expectations! The ladies working tonight were very informative and answered all our questions. I went with the red velvet and my bride had butter pecan. My choice was probably the smoothest, most tasteful ice cream I've ever had, and trust me, there has been probably a thousand others before this. I visited Chill Nitro as part of a Yelp Elite event and let me just say, I enjoyed the experience. There was a featured strawberry milkshake for the elites and I was able to get it dairy free. They have the options of coconut milk or oat milk. I chose oat milk and it was a great choice. They were out of dairy free whip so I got it without. It is the best dairy free milkshake I've ever had. This was my first experience at Chill Nitro, and nitrogen frozen ice cream in general. I enjoyed it, although it was a bit pricey for two small ice creams. However, it was most certainly "dessert and a show," as the freezing of the ice cream is done by nitrogen being pumped into Kitchen Aid mixing bowls where your ingredients have been placed. The process was very cool to watch, and most definitely different than any other ice cream shop I have been to before. I got cookies and cream ice cream, and my friend got Cheesecake ice cream. The texture of my ice cream was nice and creamy and smooth. However, her texture was off a bit, and it seemed icy. I am sure that is due to how it was made, but mine did not seem to have those characteristics. I think it was a good experience, but it was a bit pricey for ice cream. However, since a small portion was pretty large, I don't think you would need more than that. read more

For my 12 and 13 year old daughters to ask to leave an ice cream place, you know it's bad. I am so disappointed with this experience. I know it's Saturday night at 9pm, but why are you playing music with explicit lyrics while a family with kids is sitting inside? The staff here are always incredibly kind and if you're struggling to decide, they are super helpful! It seems like they're also branching into coffees, as they had some wintery coffee specials on my last visit! Bonus points, they told us that they could transform those coffee specials into an ice cream concoction! My wife had this place in our bookmarks for when we had an opportunity to check it out. This weekend we had some family in town to visit and we were in the area so we thought we would finally stop in. We arrived about 2:30pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We approached the counter and were greeted by a very friendly man who asked us if we had been in before. When we told him it was our first time he gave us a short breakdown. You can chose from one of their signature flavor combinations or create your own. You can also add a liquor infusion of various rums, gin, tequilas, vodkas, whiskeys, bourbons and more. He told us the ice cream recipe is one handed down through the generations and as they make your custom desert they also add nitrogen through a system which pumps it directly into the counter mixers. The liquid nitrogen freezes the ice cream so quickly that it does not form large ice crystals. The quick freeze makes a smooth and creamy ice cream with little to no trapped air bubbles. We each chose an item and watched as they were expertly made to perfection. When our desserts arrived they looked and tasted delicious! Overall this was a great experience and one we would recommend to others. Do expect to pay a premium for your items though. Fabulous desserts, wonderfully friendly staff and great product. read more

Chill Nitro was the last stop on a recent food tour of Winston-Salem. We were able to order a small of whatever flavor we wanted. If we wanted, we could have paid extra to get an alcohol mixed in. They have suggestions for what pairs well together. The staff was welcoming when we arrived and gave us a brief overview on the process. It is -320 degrees and the liquid nitrogen mixes with the other ingredients it turns into a gas that is fun to watch as the ice cream is made. The quick freeze is to make the ice cream more creamy. If you don't want dairy milk they have oat and coconut milks available. I went with the strawberry shortcake and it had real berries in it. It was really good and I felt bad for not eating more of it but I was stuffed from the other stops on the tour. I do look forward to trying other flavors though and some are there for just a month. Take a little walk and get some ice cream. They have many different flavors and several options for mix-ins and toppings. And for the 21 and over crowd, there are options to add a shot of alcohol to your ice cream. The menu even has suggestions for the best pairings but you can choose whatever you like.
