Just ate at CHILIS, they accused me and 4 of my friends that they've seen us "WALK OUT ON A TICKET" before when none of us come to eat here often whatsoever. Not a good experience here. I ordered a "3 for Me" with a fountain drink, side salad, burger, and fries. After a pretty long wait the waitress came by and said "Your food will be out soon". I had to ask her if she was going to bring the salad first. I saw her check a computer trying to figure out what I was talking about. She did bring the salad. Before I was half way though the salad, other food arrived. She delivered the burger to the table but there were no fries on the plate. The waitress said "They are making new fries. When you get them they will be fresh and hot". I never received any fries. My girlfriend's meal was also delivered incomplete and not very warm. She questioned what she believed was missing. The waitress took her plate back to the kitchen and returned it with the missing components added. When I was done eating the burger and still had not received any fries, the waitress came by and I told her that I thought that the lack of fries was worth three dollars off the price of the meal. When she presented the bill she charged the full price of the meal. We told her that we wanted to talk to a manager. No manager showed up. Then I went over and asked the bartender if it was possible to talk to a manager. She said that the manager was "on a teleconference" and that it would be a few minutes. We got there the place wasn't even that full, the waitress came to us 10 minutes after we got there ask for our drinks someone brought them over, she star socializing with a lady and 45 minutes later she finally decided to come to us after her manager told her she needs to attend the customers. She came with a huge smile like all is good took our order and 40 minutes later we got our food over cooked and disgusting. I've been to many chilis but this is by far the worst we are travelers and passing by but when a restaurant is practically empty u expect a faster service and good food not burned food. I ordered rib dinners which I picked up to eat at home. The ribs were not tender. They tasted okay but required a LOT of chewing. I was looking for fall-off-the-bone tender. Neither my husband nor I ate even half of them! The Cole slaw was room temp. The fries were not freshly made. Tasted like they'd been sitting for a while. Overall a HUGE disappointment! However, the service was wonderful. Our order was brought to the car very quickly. The 2 employees we interacted with were courteous and respectful. No complaints. It was filthy as soon as you walk in. Floors to glass windows inside and out. The two Hispanic hostesses were not friendly at all. Rude and especially the purple shoulder length hair one. As we waited we noticed an empty table that would be open the WHOLE time we were waiting. We waited for an hour then they started seating people ahead of us.when we confronted them they blamed us even though we waited. Very busy on a Thursday night. Waitress was really nice. It's hard to find a vegetarian place in this town so we opted for a chain restaurant that we knew had a few veggie options for us. Food was great, they were able to accommodate vegetarian for us with the enchiladas and combo plates. Beans are also vegetarian which is a plus! I am not a regular patron of chili's. But after an amazing experience at Carlsbad Caverns we were all starving and stopped here. We were told there was a 20-30 minute wait. After reading all of the negative reviews I felt like a sitting duck. I warned my husband that it might be a frustrating experience for our hangry family. Staying at nearby Hampton Inn, we thought we'd stop at this well-known national chain for burgers and beer. The food was marginal and not made correctly (the people in the next booth also had incorrect orders) but the staff was downright unprofessional and rude. This had an outright effect on the ambiance with waitresses insulting customers while loitering by the bar and a flustered manager who was clearly not in control of the situation. We left never to return and were met at the door by the manager who apologized and have us three $5 giftcards. As far as Chili's go, this one is interesting. You can't expect much as it is in a small town which has the competition of a Denny's and Ihop. We walked in and the hostess doubles as a bus person clearing and cleaning tables. You will be passed by several employees while you stand and wait at the door for a seat. Oh, DONT EXPECT ANY OF THEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE YOU, as none of them will say a word, they will just pass you by. When the hostess finally comes over, she will ask you how many and walk away again. When she finally returns, she will ask you if you are ready yet (as though she has been waiting on you). Once seated, you may want to ask if they have their signature dish, RIBS...they were out of ribs, so I ordered a ribeye. The cook is just that a cook. Steaks are over cooked and it takes 2 times to get it done right. Like I said in the beginning, it is what it is, and when your competition is a Denny's and IHOP, you really don't need to set your expectations very high to over achieve. Average is acceptable here. The best point I can say is you will get a hot meal and you will not be poisoned. read more

Our group of 6 headed to chilis on a Thursday evening around 9pm, as most other local restaurants were closed. The margaritas were really sweet and didn't seem to contain much tequila. The soup "bowl" (entree) portion was unexpectedly small. The greens in the Caesar salad were wilted and overdressed. The salmon and broccoli was tasty and the portion was adequate. Both kids had chicken strips and said they were "fine." The service was slow (since it was late it seemed they'd dropped to a single server too early) and some of the servers were socializing with someone who appeared to be an off-the-clock employee who, after experiencing multiple episodes of loud coughing in the dining area, said, "At least I'm not working right now."
