I would give zero stars if it was allowed. Incompetent staff up front. Back staff-tech before doctor comes in was absolutely horrid. She knows nothing about customer service. Refuses to do anything other than her tech job then verbally attacks you saying your doing wrong to her when that isnt what was happening. No point in filling out your insurance on forms before you go in because they wont do any of the work regarding it and put everything on you to do while your there whole your being pushed to a room without even being properly checked in first then when you need their information for insurance its impossible to get them to cooperate. I've never been treated with such terrible customer service. That tech needs to be fired as she has no business in customer service! I will never return here.​ read more

I was referred here by my pediatrician because my 4 month old son has a growth on his lower eyelid I was worried about. Upon arrival, the doctor's assistant came in the room and told me we would need to dilate my son's eyes which would sting and take two hours. I refused to do this until the actual doctor saw him and recommended this herself. The assistant was obviously annoyed with my request and I was met with the same attitude by Dr. Reem. She was aggressive and really pushed the dilation before even discussing the issue with me. It seems like they can bill a high cost for dilation which is why it was pushed on me so aggressively at multiple points throughout the appointment. I was asked again upon checking out when I would be back to dilate his eyes. I got a second opinion from another eye doctor who told me the growth would probably go away and to just leave it alone for now. I had an awful experience here and will not be returning, Dr. Reem was terrible. read more

Dr Arbuckle has taken care of our child's vision issues for 9 years. He has been dedicated and persistent in her care, which she needed to see him for several times a year up until the age of 8. It is a nice place for vision checkups, pretty expensive though. Our experience with more complex stuff was not good unfortunately. For my older son we came in for an eye alignment consultation and the doctor was eager to set up a surgery appointment right away saying that "nothing can go wrong" with this surgery and that my son needs it. His case was rather complex and we searched for a second opinion. A doctor at another clinic explained that surgery might not benefit my son and that there are risks and really no pressing reasons to do the surgery. My younger son had chalazion incision last Friday and he got sick with bad skin reaction around his eyes on Saturday. We were urged by the nurse to take him to ER. We took him to the clinic on Monday and heard no word of empathy or compassion from the doctor. He said my son was supposed to feed not good (vomit and fatigue and purple skin on face while discharge instructions allowed school the next day?). He said it might have been anesthesia (over 30 hours after a short procedure?), or it might be a viral illness (definitely not the case). The doctor looked annoyed by our visit and I was asking my final questions from the doorway. Although I only wanted to find out what could have caused the reaction without blaming anyone, he got defensive and was kicking the ball away from the clinic. The same did his surgeon when I texted her about our problems, and she never called me afterwards to ask how my son was doing. Unfortunately, to me it looks as a mass production place for procedures and checkups with little genuine concern about children. And, as other reviewers mentioned, the front office collects charges upfront for things that ARE covered by insurance. They are either too lazy to bill the insurance or they keep both payments. There's no alternative or place for argument. These little things are disgusting. read more

My kid had an eye injury with some urgent symptoms, and I called Children's Eye Physicians, which is where she is regularly seen, for advice. I called first thing in the morning, and was told they all had a staff meeting that afternoon so they would be closing at noon, but the message/symptoms would be passed along to a dr who would follow up with me. At 11AM I still had not heard back so I called again. The individual who answered spent a significant amount of time trying to reach a dr but even she could not get a response. She finally got in touch with the office manager who told her she would relay the information and the urgency to a dr, who would call me back soon. I never heard back from anyone. Thankfully I was able to get my daughter in at another eye doctor, who noted it indeed was an emergency and she did need to be seen immediately. We will be switching our family to this doctor and will never return to Children's Eye Physicians. read more

Bedside manner of the physician was a joke - it's a pediatric practice .... Also fraudulent billing practices. No refraction was completed and yet they billed for it. Stay away!!!! read more

We see Dr. Bardorf, who did my 4 year old child's strabismus surgery 2 years ago. The whole staff is amazing, just very attentive and friendly while completely professional. From the very first visit the Centennial office has been very accommodating and kind. My one year old son had to have strabismus surgery. Dr. Bardorf did an amazing job. I will never recommend this facility to anyone! My son was checked there after my pediatrician gave him a vision test that showed he has an astigmatism. CEP dilated his eyes, did tests and the dr. literally told me that he is slightly far- sighted but nothing bad at all, and he would grow out of it. Sent us on our way. After a few weeks of his eyes crossing and my gut instinct, I made him an appt elsewhere where he was told Immediately that he needed glasses and then was given an extrememly strong prescription for a 3 year old because my son has terrible eye sight, is so far sighted that his eyes were crossing for overcompensation, and was having headaches! The new facility figured out this in 2 minutes, where CEO couldn't in an hour! Had I not listened to my gut instinct, my son could have had permanent eye damage! read more

We have been coming here for about 7 years and have had an excellent experience. The doctors and staff give their full attention to the kids and are so friendly. My son's eyes have been improving and the kids never mind coming here for an apt - they think it's fun! They also have an eyeglasses store attached which is great. The person I worked with there was also super nice and got my son set up with some really nice glasses that worked with my insurance so I didn't have to pay anything additional. She helped me navigate my new insurance when we switched over and everything was really fluid. We will keep on coming here ever 6 months - no complaints! read more

My son has been seen here every 3-6 months since just after his first birthday. We were referred by our pediatrician, and have since referred several friends ourselves to take their children to this practice. Having eye conditions ourselves (as parents) we knew our son would have a high chance of having a condition himself - and I wouldn't trust anyone more than I do CEP. Honestly, as my son gets older the decision to bring him here is even more affirmed. I was wondering how they could possibly get the prescription correct for a one year old who obviously can't communicate his vision needs very well - but as he gets older he asks for his glasses the moment he wakes up and he tells us how they make him see better, and that puts my mind at ease (especially considering his prescription hasn't changed at all since his first visit). We see Dr. DeSantis and I trust her completely. The office staff is friendly, even when its very busy. I especially like that they call me personally to make my next appointment once it gets close enough, since they don't book more than 3 months out (so it can't be done when leaving the office normally). read more

What a wonderful experience. My son, who was very nervous, met with Dr. DeMoss. She was so friendly and professional at the same time. She made my son feel so comfortable. She was more than thorough. I have a daughter with Pan Uvietis and Dr. DeMoss took the time to throughly examine my son and used this family history during the examination. What I really found most amazing was she spoke directly to her patient, my son. She did not ignore him and just address questions to me. Although my son was disappointed he had to get eye drops (what kids is not) she fully explained to him why he needed them and how it helped her make sure that he was healthy. ****UPDATE**** I spoke to Wendy Spirek, Chief Strategy Officer this morning (3/2) regarding the below incident. First, I stress that Dr. Steele is an amazing pediatric surgeon in every sense and I would not want to go anywhere else. Second, Ms. Spirek apologized for what happened as it goes against their culture and their mission to help children and families with eye issues. As I mentioned below, we are grateful for and very much appreciate the staff at the Centennial office, specifically Dr. Steele. Our surgery date was never in jeopardy and the wrongs have been made right. Thank you! I received a call from Linda McGee/billing office yesterday regarding my son's upcoming surgery and insurance benefits. Ultimately she threatened to take my son out of the surgery rotation for 3/8 because I told her I am uncomfortable paying for anything upfront on the advice of my insurance provider. I called my insurance company first to make sure I had my ducks in a row--I do. I also talked with the surgery center to make sure they had everything they needed from me (they did). Ms. McGee left a rude voice mail again this morning and I called her back today (3/1/2018). After a discussion about insurance, she told me my coinsurance would be $615.05 and requested payment. I explained my insurance company advised me to try and avoid prepayments until after they're billed because it messes with the deductible and can result in overpayment. She didn't like my response. I asked her what she was basing the amount on, she advised that it's an estimate based on the doctor charges and insurance allowance and that it could be more, but won't be less. I explained that the estimate is exactly why my insurance provider advised me against a down payment. I also told her we had a surgery last year and neither they nor the hospital asked for prepayment. She told me this a new policy as of February because they're not getting paid. It was a lot of back and forth trying to reason with her. When I confirmed with her that I'm uncomfortable with this, she said she would have her manager (Briana Pierce) call me to see if my son could still have his surgery next week. She threatened to take my son out of a needed and scheduled surgery because I'm uncomfortable with your alledged, newly enacted billing policy. I told her that we've always paid them and so has our insurance provider. During office visits we provide a cc and it's not run until after the appointment when benefits are coordinated. Then we are notified via email of the charges. I'm aware that she is trying to do a job. But I highly doubt her job description includes threats of withholding medically necessary procedures for children in exchange for any amount of money. Lastly, I want to say that my son is currently being treated by Dr. Ana Steele at the Centennial, CO office. We very much appreciate her expertise, her dedication, her thoroughness and her bedside manner. While we've had to wait for long periods of time to be seen with a scheduled appointment, I don't necessarily mind. The other staff that have helped are good/patient with my son. The front desk staff and surgery schedulers are helpful. My problem is your rude billing office. I don't want to leave this practice, but I will find another provider if this continues. read more

Well it's tough to review a professional from the consumer's view. Well I guess not but tough to be fair as I know what they are doing on a day to day basis and how many unforeseens play a role in the patient's experience. How they handle those unforeseen circumstances help a lot. I took my special needs child to this place recommended by my pediatrician and saw one of the seasoned docs for the first two years of my daughter's life. The first doc was less than engaging with me and my child but not mean or anything. Just not forthcoming with explanations. FInally when it was time to have the evaluation that would likey result in a rx for glasses I asked to be scheduled with someone else. We got with Dr Arbucal. My first visit with my daughter and Dr Arbucal started badly because of a lengthy wait. BUT GUESS WHAT YELPERS, it wasn't his fault that he had an emergency to take care of or that my special needs daughter is tough to entertain for an extended period of time in a boring exam room. The staff responded well by letting me know of the delay and asked if we needed anything. They got animal crackers for my daughter that helped kill some of the time. When he did arrive he apologized for the delay. He was speedy with his exam, forthcoming with information about where my daughter was with her vision and why he would recommended glasses of a lesser rx to start, where to find glasses with a good replacement warrenty and recommended certain frames. It's tough to deal with the public, appointments, surgeries, emergencies and get a good rating from your patients. Despite my lengthy wait I think they deserve it. Abby read more

I've been taking my daughter here for 3 yrs for an eye condition. At 3, the staff worked so well with her to get her to cooperate. They've improved her vision to almost normal in her bad eye and avoided costly surgery. The staff is friendly and they are very organized. Little wait time, reminder calls and I've never seen a bill for anything. I have UHC PPO and just pay my co pay. I highly recommend Dr. Bardorf. read more

We just saw Dr Lara today, she was great. But nobody told us as we were checking in, filled out our paper work and they took our insurance card, that they do NOT take CIGNA insurance. So at the checkout we found out a nice surprise - we have to pay $250 out of the pocket!! Awesome! Obviously, nobody cares, you will HAVE to pay in the end! Not used to carry vision insurance, never checked if they are a "in-network-provider" - they are NOT. And by the way Spivak family eye clinic that is just on the other side of Dry Creek TAKES CIGNA insurance as I found out today. read more

How ridiculous. We wanted a childrens specialist so we took our 5 year old for exam here. Bought expensive frames and lenses. A few weeks later the lens kept popping out. We called and they said he has to have a follow up appointment. I tell her my insurance has changed. I spend 20 minutes on hold while she verifies they take it. She says they do take eyemed. It's all ok. Soonest appointment is 4 weeks away and in wheatridge. (We live by the centennial location) I take the appointment. Meanwhile the lense pops out several times and day. 4 weeks go by. I confirm the appt, take off work, drive 45 minutes each way to get there and am told they don't take "this kind of eyemed" and if we want to be Seen it will be $190 out of pocket. Wasting a 1/4 tank of gas, my time and time off work. Just because they have a niche market they think they can jerk families around like this? Junk marked up glasses and horrible treatment. I would of been better off going to crappy walmart for this kind of experience. I thought childrens eye physicians would be the most professional. What a disappointment. Almost every optical place takes children. Don't waste your time and money. read more

My daughter was a patient of Dr Bardorf at CEP. Dr Bardorf is an adequate physician in terms of clinical skills, but he lacks people skills. He is just not good with kids. One of the main reasons that I left CEP was the long wait time each and every time we had to go in. I simply do not have the time to wait 30-45 min every time we visit the eye Dr. The attached optical shop is a rip off as well. They wanted $500 for a pair of glasses that I got for $80 at Costco optical. read more

I did go to Children's hospital once for an eye appointment because my insuance did not cover Children's eye physicians and that was a mistake. We were new patients yesterday at the Centennial office. The whole process with scheduling and front office staff was difficult and confusing. Then the practice has a requirement to provide a cc or debit card on file for service just in case medical "coverage" is needed during a normal annual eye exam. They don't call ahead for insurance benefits and estimated costs of services. Rather they charge you for it after the services are rendered and they see what insurance pays. Patients only get a three day warning of what their cc will be charged and this is after the time of service. I'm adamantly against giving my cc number without prior knowledge of what my payment might be BEFORE services rendered. That's giving them a blank check. I discussed it with one of the office staff after telling the doctor I wasn't comfortable with it. They agreed to continue the appt and allow me to keep my second daughter's new appt the next day without a need of the cc info. Then at check out I was informed that tomorrow I would be required to provide a cc for my daughter's appt. The lady that discussed and agreed to not requiring it only sat quiet next to the lady now telling me no exceptions. I cancelled her appt and told them I'd find a new practice. The eye doctor was thorough and gentle. We liked her. I'd give more stars if it was just based on the doctor. But the office staff and the cc requirement policy was a complete turn off. read more

Took my 5-year-old daughter here on referral from her pediatrician for treatment of a chalazion stye. From start to finish I was unimpressed and annoyed. No one I interacted with introduced themselves to me or my daughter. There was almost no explanation of what was taking place, who we were interacting with, or the purpose of different tests or procedures. My daughter ended up getting a full eye exam with dilation, which she didn't need. The Dr (? Not even sure) told her she was putting drops of water in her eye. Later, my daughter asked me why the lady lied, as it was not water that she put in her eye. Seriously? This is a children's office? You should know better than to tell a kid you are putting water in her eyes, when she clearly knows water doesn't make her eyes blurry, sensitive to light, and uncomfortable for hours after. "Bedside" manner was not impressive, particularly for a pediatric practice. Just received my bill for over $300 for the provider to do unnecessary tests, be dishonest to my kid, and then tell me that there wasn't really anything to be done. read more

We had a great experience at CEP. Took my son for an exam yesterday. Lan (I believe) did the initial exam and she was soo great! I can't say enough nice things about her. She was great with my son and made him feel so comfortable! All the other nurses and the guy at the front desk were wonderful too...friendly, willing to help and took the time to explain things to me. We saw Dr. Ruth and although she was friendly and explained everything I felt she wasn't as personable as I would like (but that is probably just my personality) and I've found very few doctors who are this way. All in all, my 3 year old's first eye doctor visit was smooth and he left a happy little man! read more

I just got home from having both my boys eyes examined from this practice. Please go with a thick skin. I have no doubt that they both had the most knowledgeable doctor however condescending too. He was just fine with my older son, so kind to my younger and treated me like I am unable to understand anything. I felt like I was put in some sort of prejudged parenting category that the office gives parents who bring their kids in with a letter to further get their eyes examined from their school. I am not comfortable discussing my older sons educational issues in front of him knowing that he already struggles with his confidence in a certain subject. I felt I had no choice but do so so. I felt as though he put down teachers when just mentioning the word "tracking" and when I asked a question trying to understand how a child can have 20/20 vision but still be farsighted I was abrasively told that "I just told you what that meant." When all I really needed was a bit more understanding on the "focusing mechanism, accommodation." I came home and searched Google the question I asked the doctor and found a much clearer answer from another pediatric eye clinic website located in Greensboro, NC... Pediatric Ophthalmology Associates, P.A. This clinic has a great FAQ page (pediatric-ophth.com/faqs.html) explaining to me not only my farsightedness issue but also reiterating what to do if I currently have a struggling reader but doing well in everything else. I left having to schedule another appointment in 6 weeks to recheck my older son's vision. All staff behind the front desk are kind and are delightful. read more

I rate my overall experience as poor mainly due to my interaction with Dr. Cohen. The staff was friendly enough, although I was not made aware that the appointment could take up to 2 hours - which would have been very nice to know so I could have arranged for care of my 1 year old. The Techs were great with my 3 year old and interacted well with him, but the second Dr. Cohen walked into the room he was cold, harsh, rude and indirect towards both myself and my children. The first thing he did was scold my 3 year old for touching one of the instruments. VERY INAPPROPRIATE considering he was doing nothing harmful. He continued to not acknowledge either myself or either of my children while doing his examination. Once completed he simply stated that my child would need glasses from the time he wakes until sleep. No explanation, no understanding that this is a BIG DEAL for a 3 year old who is extremely active. I asked 2 questions to which I was answered with snide remarks and made to feel as if I should already know the answers or shouldn't be asking. I got out of there as quickly as I could and will not be returning to this practice. My expectations for a PEDIATRIC practice were completely shattered by this interaction. read more
