When we arrived, they had run my insurance and they gave me a printed detailed list of all costs for a basic first exam, X-rays and cleaning, including what was covered by my insurance, before I even thought to ask. The hygentist was wonderful and very patient with my son. He was a little anxious and she did a great job of calming him down. I was also really impressed with Dr. Millkey. She had to give me bad news about a severe cavity in one of my son's permanent teeth. But she explained the options clearly - even suggesting we get a quote from our oral surgeon in case it might save us money. She has a wonderful bedside manner, saving the bad news for me alone while my son was distracted picking out a small toy with one of her staff members. I don't know how I lucked into such a wonderful practice that also accepts our dental insurance!n

Amazing! Dr. Millkey and her staff are beyond amazing. 5 stars does not do justice to this…read morepractice. I started taking my son to Millkey way when he was 2. It took me a while to find a pediatric dentist that was suitable because when it comes to my baby nothing is ever good enough (lol). I walked into Millkey way and was transported to this fantastical galactic space which took me back to my childhood. The staff at the front desk addressed my son by name. I wondered how they knew then realized we were the only ones in the office. It took me a moment to realize hey, they did not overbook because no one else was scheduled with us. There was no wait time. The dental hygienist took us to the back and got to cleaning my son's tiny teeth . My baby was so comfortable that he layed there, no fuss which I was so thankful for because it put me at ease. Dr. Millkey did her exam after the cleaning. She has such a warm spirit and calm energy. She patiently answered all my questions and when I had no more she gave me a ton of information and pointed out something I had never noticed, my son has and under bite and cross bite. She advised me to wean him off the pacifier to help with those issues. During the 2nd visit x-rays were taken and Dr. Millkey allowed me to view them and take photos. I was so pleased and thankful. I actually saw the permanent teeth in the gums hanging around waiting to descend. I can't say enough about Millkey Way Pediatrics. Friendly staff and amazing Doctor.

I briefly FaceTimed him so he could see her during the visit. The dentist abruptly said, "No FaceTime," in a curt manner. I completely understand if that is the office policy, but the delivery felt rude and there was no explanation given. The second situation happened during another visit when Dr. Z told me I could not be rude to his staff. I was very confused because I had no idea what he was referring to, and I told him that I hadn't been rude. He responded with something along the lines of, "Come on, I know you were." Shortly after, a staff member came into the room and explained that they had mistaken me for a different parent. Dr. Z did apologize, and I understand that mistakes happen, but the interaction added to the overall feeling that the environment was not very warm or welcoming. Because of these experiences, we have not returned.

Dr. Z is, without fail, so positive, encouraging, gentle and kind that my children (and me too!) are excited to go to the dentist each 6 months. Both of my younger kids had behaviors that impacted their teeth (ie. Thumb sucking) and he gave us advice, coached them through it, and even sent presents when they "met their goals". All around fabulous - every child should be so lucky to have such a great dentist!

On the day of the procedure, they presented a surprise bill for $2,800--a $1,000 increase with no prior notice. Beyond the billing issues, the front desk conduct is deeply concerning. The receptionist, Hailey, displays a clear shift in demeanor based on the ethnicity of the patients she is assisting. From both personal experience and observation, it is evident she lacks the professionalism to treat African American patients with the same courtesy as others. When I chose to reschedule and eventually cancel due to these red flags, they refused to refund my deposit. This isn't just a "misunderstanding"--it's a predatory practice. Our older child has had decent experiences there for dental care. They have TVs above the chair to help keep them entertained/distracted. Unfortunately, once we brought our younger child, it became clear that the positive experiences only exist for compliant children. Our younger one (2 at the time) was afraid of the cleaning and was not cooperating, at least not quickly. As soon as it became clear that he was not having it, the hygienist started pressuring me to hold him down and hold his mouth open so that she could do the cleaning. I explained that, since she had already informed me his teeth were healthy and clean, we would settle for a normal tooth brushing so as not to reinforce his fear. Since he didn't really need a full cleaning at that moment, my priority was to create a positive experience so that he would not develop an enduring fear of the dentist. I also explained that, when possible, we try to respect their bodily autonomy, and I did not feel comfortable holding him down and prying his jaw open when it was not truly necessary. She replied "so if he needs a shot at the pediatrician, what do you do?" That was the moment we decided not to continue with Peak. I did not go there to have my parenting choices judged, and if they disagree that creating a positive experience is important for a 2 year old, then they are not the right fit for us. And by the way, yes, we do hold him still as needed for life-saving vaccinations; that is not the same as a routine dental cleaning. Had he needed an actual procedure, we would have figured out how to make it happen, but that was not the case. When Dr. Cassinelli came in, she was short and brusk, and clearly annoyed with us before she even walked in. This had not been our experience with her in the past; I suppose the hygienist had told her we were being difficult? Finally, they give children tokens for prizes without asking parents. When the 5 year old received one and got to choose a price from the machine, of course the two year old wanted one as well. He was given an age appropriate toy, and they would not exchange it for a token for him as well (again, I am the parent and can judge which toys my child can handle). So, in addition to being scared and having an overall terrible experience, he was also devastated that he did not get a cool prize from the machine like his big brother. A big nope for our little guy, we are switching to a new practice that will respect me as a parent and him as a full human with feelings.
