If you are looking for a different type of place for breakfast in Tijuana, you will discover the…read morename, Marenca. The Zona Rio location has a small dining area, that is very popular with both the locals and visitors. It is easy to see why. Their menu does not over dose on the standard morning and afternoon items that you would find anyplace. However, this is the first restaurant I've been to in Tijuana, that does not have an English menu.... so I had to labor through the Spanish menu. But, they do have unique dishes, thus making the visit adventurous, because it is difficult to choose. I went back and forth, and finally settled for their 3-egg omelet with asparagus and sheep cheese. It came with refried beans, strings of carrots and beets, small fired up tostadas and fresh tortillas (both blue and yellow corn). A small side of soggy chilaquiles was also served. A small flavorful salsa tray is also provided with 3 options, ranging from mild to hot. The asparagus spears were thin, cut up into small pieces and sautéed with mild spices. The outer egg covering soft and not overdone. If anything, there was too much sheep cheese, in certain portions of the omelet. I say this because it was an asparagus omelet, and it, instead of the cheese, should have been the star. Still, it did not take away from the other commendable aspects of the complete entree and its accompaniments. Before the meal, a small refreshing fruit plate is served. Coffee and overall service here, was mucho excellente.

I've visited Marenca several times throughout the years. They're located in the busy area of Zona…read moreRio. They have their own designated parking, which is nice, as sometimes parking may be an issue in town. The parking attendant welcomes you and lets you know where to park. You are immediately greeted when you walk in. I typically visit for a late lunch. The restaurant has a cozy feel. The staff are attentive and friendly. The presentation of the food is nice and it tastes good. Some of the dishes that I have tried are: Tarahumara (portobello omelet), Xitomatl (entomatadas), Huichol (chilaquiles con cecina), Mulli (mole Oaxaqueño), Teotihuacán (chilaquiles con chorizo y huevo), and Coyoltzin (puntas de filete). My favorite has been the Coyoltzin because the meat is tender and juicy. I also love that they bring salsas to the table. I like the chiles with oil and vinegar that they make. Overall, a great place to have breakfast or lunch with friends and family.

First time visiting TJ in years and it was so much fun! I love a good food market hall, and I had…read moreno idea Telefónica even existed. It reminds me of some of the big food halls in Los Angeles (Grand Central Market, Haven City, etc.) packed with delicious food and beverage options. Just a quick Uber ride from the border and you can be munching on fresh ceviche and savoring an ice cold glass of house-made sangria. That's exactly what we ordered! I appreciated the option for indoor or outdoor seating. Since it was an extremely hot and humid day, we opted to sit inside, where the fans were a lifesaver. We ordered drinks at the bar inside and then picked up food from one of the several vendors outside. The staff was welcoming and checked on us several times, even offering our group a large table upstairs, which was a considerate touch. From coffee to pastries, sweets, snacks, wine, beer, seafood, pizza, and everything in between, Telefónica is a great way to start or end your day in TJ. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in town!

This place is amazing. Disregard any bad reviews that you may see…read more the truth is they have so many different types of food here, the biggest problem is deciding which one you want to eat. My advice, take a cheap UBER instead of driving as parking is not fast. When you arrive take a walk though quickly to get a lay of the land and see what the options are. Maybe grab a michelada on the way in since the bar is right there. I'd pick one or 2 or 3 places to try as long as what you order fits together. the last thing you'd want to eat would be a taco and a hot dog. BE MINDFUL: Realize you are in Mexico. This place wasn't really made for tourists, it's more of a local spot and it's pretty safe. That being said they don't usually care too much about dealing with complaints. Take breath a little bit Karen and enjoy the experience. The tables are open seating, so maybe while you grab food, send your friend to find a table. they also had a cat there that was so chill and wanted to be pet.
