    Chilaquiles Box

The atmosphere feels very secluded, although, it was probably due to a visit during the holidays and everyone was out of town. Pretty basic eatery location and not much of a selection for alternative food options. For the price of the food, I think you're mainly paying for the aesthetic. Overall, a fair experience.

Wow!! I am so pleased with my choice to visit Chilabox. A quick walk from my hotel in El Paso, Chilabox is a great concept where Mexican Chilaquiles come in a box customized to your liking for an exciting, delicious and fun experience. The space is adorable! Great outdoor seating area with swings (!!) and plenty of tables and benches for customers. I visited for breakfast and was greeted by the friendly and helpful staff who explained the concept to me. You choose from several sauce options and then choose your toppings. I chose rojo and verde sauce, light onions, sour cream, chicken, cheese and black sesame seeds. Everything comes carefully layered in a "to go" box similar to what you'd get at a Chinese restaurant. You can eat straight from the box, or open it up on the specially designed sides onto a plate so you can get the full experience. My Chilabox was delicious! It was done in about 5 minutes. The slightly spicy red sauce and tangy green sauce were so flavorful, the tortilla chips were a great mix of crispy and saturated in the sauce. I couldn't stop eating! I'm glad I went with light onions because they were strong. I wish there was an option to add a fried egg on top, but otherwise it was perfect!

Been wanting to try this spot for a while and I'm glad I finally did! Cool downtown location available for pickup, along with a very small dining space indoors and quaint little patio available too. The chipotle Chilabox was money! I opted to add chicken & pass on the cilantro. Every bite was delicious! Paired perfectly with the Mexican Coke in the old school glass bottle. Pickup with great (quick & convenient)! Service was great! Food was great (looking forward to trying the other 4 salutes they offer)! Downtown El Paso, let's support this spot and help make it successful!

It's a quaint little spot tucked inside The Mix Shops on San Antonio St. next to the Union Plaza in downtown El Paso. Good: They serve up chilaquiles inside a takeout box, but don't be fooled by the size, one box is enough to fill you up. They offer 3 different sauces, verde (green), rojo (red) or chipotle. My wife and I ordered the green and chipotle. Both were very good as each box was filled to the top with tostada chips, chicken*, cheese, onions, sour cream, cilantro, and black sesame seeds. Priced around $9.00 a box. You can add avocado for an additional charge. Service was friendly and attentive. Bad: If you don't want to walk around with onion mouth all day, order it without. Also, not sure if they put chicken in our boxes. *Our boxes didn't look like they had chicken in them. When I asked, the gentleman, he said they come with finely shredded chicken but I couldn't tell if that was true or not. My only suggestions for this place would be to make the chicken more distinguishable, because I couldn't tell. Also, if you can add a fried egg on top, that would put this place up a notch.

Never had this before December 13, 2023 but very impressed! Despite not having chicken for protein (because a larger number of Soldiers decided try this place out during Iron Summit 2023), the team recovered well and went above and beyond in providing an awesome dining experience!

I would love to give this five stars because the chilaquiles are pretty amazing. I order the habanero with everything on it and they were spot on... the amount that fits inside the little box is very filling. The location is nice with the swings and small patio tables outside. Here's the downfall to my experience, we placed our order inside and were told it would be ready in 12 min, went inside to get the order after about 15 min and were told another 5 min, wrong it took about 40 min for my order to come out. Some people may not have 40 minutes to wait so why not be upfront and let customers know what the wait time is.

My mom found this place through fb and we were craving chilaquiles so we came to check it out. Chilaquiles are crunchy and full of salsa, our toppings included cheese, sour cream, avocado, sesame seeds and chicken! They come in boxes that open up on the side, super convenient as you continue eating. It's a nice little place and the chilaquiles were super yummy so we're bound to come back in the future (:

Chipotle flavor! Also had the gualda verde! Both are bomb!

Small gem in downtown El Paso! Pretty cool twist to chilaquiles, very flavorful! Easy to eat. Will definitely come back! Staff is nice!

I had just flown in from the airport, and my brother arranged it as a special family gathering. Everything started normally: we were seated, ordered our food, received our drinks, and enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa. Then my sister (who is LGBTQ+) stepped away to use the restroom. When she returned and sat down, a manager approached our table and loudly told her--in front of other diners--that "MEN cannot use the female restroom." My sister was mortified and humiliated by the public confrontation. The manager's tone and assumption were shocking and clearly discriminatory. We immediately got up and left without eating. This wasn't about enforcing any legitimate policy; it was rude, insensitive, and targeted. My adult sister is perfectly capable of reading the restroom signs herself--no one needed to police or shame her in such a way. The incident felt rooted in homophobia and transphobia from management. We will never return to this place, and we will actively discourage others--especially LGBTQ+ individuals and allies--from patronizing it. What should have been a joyful family milestone was ruined by bigotry. Avoid this establishment if you value respect and inclusivity.

Unfortunately, that loyalty came to an end after a recent experience that was both disappointing and unacceptable. My family and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Every guest paid separately, and there were no issues during the evening itself. However, as the event concluded, multiple attendees, including family members and in-laws, overheard servers making derogatory comments about our party. Among the remarks were that we were "ungrateful," "cheap," and "broke," along with other inappropriate comments that no customer should ever have to hear. I brought the matter to the attention of ownership, hoping for a meaningful resolution. While I was told the employees had been reprimanded, the proposed remedy was a $25 gift card. After nearly 18 years of patronage, the response felt dismissive and only added insult to injury. What disappoints me most is not simply the behavior of the staff, but the lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. This was a place I once considered a reliable and welcoming destination for family gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, that trust has been lost. As a result, I will no longer be returning or recommending this establishment to friends, family, or colleagues. Respect for customers should be a fundamental part of any hospitality business, and in this case, that standard was not met.

I bumped it up to four stars for the super friendly service and the excellent aguas frescas. We got there late, about an hour before closing and they were literally trying to get rid of the aguas for free. I guess they have to dump it if they don't use it all. It was close to our hotel so we gave it a try. Portion sizes are good. The taco platter comes with six tacos! I had the flautas Chinampa which came with four beef flautas, beans, rice, and salad. I forgot, the taco platter even came with a baked potato. Prices were excellent. We had gone to McDonald's in the morning and spent more. They also cave us frijoles charros for free. Not sure if this was standard or if they were also trying to get rid of it. I would return for the service and the convenience, but if you're looking for life changing Mexican cuisine, it's not here. Had multiple thousand Google reviews and they were all close to five stars. So I knew I had to check it out. It was super close to my hotel, so I popped in the car and found it without trouble. Trouble. Again, there is pretty limited parking so it's kind of hit and miss whether you'll find a spot or not. Fortunately, I did. Very nice lady at the counter gave me helpful suggestions and so I ordered three tacos and an amazing lime and cucumber fresca. The waiter that brought out my tacos told me that it turns into more of a nightclub after hours. I may have to go check that out. The tacos themselves were absolutely off the chain!
