There was a nice path around the school for walking. The only reason why they didn't get five stars, is because I know nothing about the school itself or the teachers . There were some nice big houses close by, so I would venture to guess that they have the budget to hire good teachers. That to me is the Crux of educational problem in this country people. If you have money, you have good schools otherwise you're screwed. How did this review at end up getting me on my soapbox...

The school was amazing but maybe not the teachers they hired... when I was in 2nd grade my teacher…read morems h we will call her, was TERRIBLE on the first week of school she screamed at me for I don't remember why but my dad had to come in and talk to her. this happened frequently and it was traumatizing, she was so mad at me sometimes she didn't even want to deal with me so she would constantly rush in the counselor while I was in tears. i was also a very sensitive kid in 2nd grade. but she had a lot of favoritism. onto another teacher there was one in 4th grade, we will call him Mr p and to my understanding he was a pain, No pain is an understatement, he did so much bad things, though I was not in his class my friends suffered there, he would not let the girls use the restroom period. My friend would use it anyways and get referrals for using the bathroom. I also heard rumors about some things I should not talk about on here, over all if your kid is talking about a bad teacher listen to them, I'm not sure but some of the teachers they hire are how I explained them and maybe worse. My experience here was okay but I would not bring my kids here.

We have been with Carden for over 6 years, so we have seen it all. In 2009 November when I first…read morewalked into the school seeking admission for my then almost 4 year old, the school had a total of 15 students and had just moved to their new location. I had been actively looking and comparing different private schools within a specific budget, and Carden came out as the best of all of my choices. It is a year round school, with options to sign in for day-care after school. This was a blessing for us working parents. School also provides options for extracurricular activities such as Chess, Taekwondo, Yoga, and Zumba. The school has since grown to over 100 children. And has office staff that support the teachers. The Teachers are the best of the best. Dedicated and nurturing. The Student to Teacher ratio is at most 1:4. Now, let's get to the crux. All Carden schools follow Mae Carden Principles and curriculum. These are different from standard methodologies, but believe me, they work. Carden children are very well behaved. They excel in Spelling bees, Math Competitions, Science Fairs, Robotic Competitions, you name it. You will not go wrong enrolling your child here. For those who would consider cost as a key factor, you are paying the money to the teacher. In other schools most of my payment goes to the day-care. (This is assuming a full day at school).

Academics are very strong and each child gets to learn at her own pace. I love the fact that they have PE and Mandarin three times a week and have superb music and art teachers. My children love to go to school every day which is certainly not what my husband and I remember from our school days! I especially appreciate the year round calendar and the extended care. These are very convenient for working parents. The extended care has many actives like yoga, soccer, taekwondo, chess and dance. Having been at the school for so many years, I understand where some of the bad reviews are coming from - there were some issues with the administration some years ago, mostly due to growing pains, but those were resolved. The school is bottom heavy with fewer children in the higher grades. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on one's child I think. Personally I love the 1:1 attention my children are able to receive. It is a very joyful and happy place and I feel very privileged to be able to send my children there.

We came on Valentine's Day to pick up our daughter from the half day. Inside we found a 14 year old girl teaching the kindergarten and 1st grade class. We asked her "What qualifications do you have to teach this class?" Her reply "I know how to push the play button on the DVD Player". We pulled our daughter out that same day. Five other parents also pulled their children the same time we did. Our daughter is now so far behind that we had to have special tutors come in to try to catch her up. She started 1st grade at Warren Public School with a reading level 7 when all other kids were at a reading level 20. Since we pulled out our daughter SAS has had two different principals and many other staff have left. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
