As my oldest finishes up his kindergarten year it's so fun to see all the lessons he's been taught coming together. They really treat each child as an individual and work hard to bring out their best self. The classrooms are well organized with high quality materials and the playground is wonderfully naturalistic. Our daughter has flourished both socially and academically. She's at or above grade level for every subject. The administration and leadership in the past year has done a tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes work to strengthen the curriculum pathway and the school overall. We are big fans of the current Head of School Courtney Tomlinson and the Director of K-6 Program Dave Provost. They are both incredibly responsive, respectful, and professional. I've yet to meet a person not dedicated fully to all of the kids at Union. It is a wonderful community to be a part of. Volunteering or finding a way to have a presence is important to being active here. The partnership with Cascadia Tech has been an amazing opportunity so far as well. There are a plethora of clubs, activities and sports to add on to the many academic opportunities. It was the best choice we ever made, moving so our kids could go here. GO TITANS!!

Just moved from Houston Independent School district to the Vancouver Public Schools…read more I'm comparing them coming from a 5 star school in Houston. Building is old but it's updated, so it has a modern feel to it, you can't see much wrong with the school from glancing at it. School hours are from 8:30am to 2:50pm. They release earlier at their discretion sometimes. This school helps out families by doing food distributions twice a month on a first come first serve basis. Compared to the school in Houston, my kids believes it's better. The people are nicer, it seems less stressful to pick up your kids. In Houston, people are rushed, disgruntled, will sometimes get in fights about people cutting lines, in front of kids and all. Here it seems like people care about the students ALOT. They are tight knit in the community, a dog was loose on the playground, and tho he was friendly, the owner was called, cops showed up. A report was done, I got a message from the community bulletins about it online. In Houston this would not have happened. Idk why people think it's bad, maybe compared to other schools it's "not as good" but it is waaaaat better than the school system we came from.

Whenever I come to this playground it brings me back to my innocent youth; tetherball in first recess, red rover and kickball in afternoon intermission (what it was called before recess). A lot of the learning is done outside the classroom and on the playground. This playground is, as Donald Tremp says, "huge". Lots of area to learn. I don't anymore, but I miss the days where I used to be a recess safety officer (duty). I was able to tell all the children to be safe and make them listen to my stories of my youth. We have been dealing with bullying issues over the last year, and so far multiple times this year…read more The principals at Lincoln elementary have refused to return phone calls regarding the matters, set "meetings" with us that they were unable to attend, and over looked the issue many times. Now it was brought to my attention that a "Mr. Jason" who is employed at Lincoln has in some form been encouraging and/or ignoring the issues. I would not send your children to this school until they get better staffing (if you have the option). After having this issue I also spoke with 2 other parents that have recently pulled their children out of Lincoln for similar problems! Never is it acceptable as an adult; especially working at a school (who should be setting a proper example) to tell a 6 year old that they deserved to be punched in the face by another student. They refuse to do anything about the bullying, and employee bullies at that. Not to mention they are obviously not adequately watching our children.

My daughter was crying and the owner had the other workers take her and my oldest son outside while they could still hear my son inside screaming about how he couldn't breathe. she was screaming and yelling at him rather than be comforting and caring about him. CPS did nothing and the owner was telling the other workers to say a different story. One of the workers there was telling me what was going on and still nothing came out of it. Do not send your children here it is not safe.
