Families whose children require accommodations or flexibility--including those supported by physician documentation--may find that exceptions to stated policies are not respected, even when based on medical need. Overall, the gap between how the school presents itself and the day-to-day reality was significant. In our experience, this environment was far less supportive and far more rigid than local public school options, including Portland Public Schools.

I can't say enough good things about the teachers, staff and families that make up the CLASS community. The small, age-blended classes allow the teachers and staff to truly understand and cater to the needs of each student. More importantly, the teachers and staff truly care about each student and are highly dedicated to their success. I'm truly amazed at the job they have done fostering our son's emotional and academic development. They've helped instill a sense of confidence in him that I never thought would be possible. Most parents are also very involved in the school (and several of the teachers/staff have kids at the school) which helps create a true sense of community. As the saying goes, "it takes a village to raise a child" and our family is extremely grateful that our village is the CLASS Academy community.

We came a few days after the 24-48 hour blooming time, but we were still able to view the flower and take pictures. We came in on a Monday around 1pm. School is out for summer break, so there wasn't much going on at the campus. A few employees in the Science & Engineering building were super nice and gave us directions to get to the corpse flower. It's located in the basement, so once you enter the front of the building off the parking lot, you go down two flights of stairs to the basement. The viewing area is small, but they let you get pretty close to the flower. There was still a dead smell in the area where the flower was. They have a live web cam on their website so you can see what stage the flower is in and how busy the viewing area is. Overall, we enjoyed our visit here. Would recommend.

Lower school…read more(PS-5th grade) is French language immersion but the middle school has 5 language tracks, including English only, French (obviously), German, Chinese, and Spanish. The student-teacher ratio is purposefully low and my kid is eager to come to school every day. The campus is big and the other parents are so welcoming. This school gives kids the wiggle room, the outdoor connection, a Global perspective and basis of information for learning, a rigorous and enriching IB program, amazing art/music/PE that is woven into their everyday subjects beautifully, caring faculty, a small teacher:student ratio, and it instills a love of learning that, based on what I hear from alumni, carries on into their higher education. And let's be real, hearing your child carry on a conversation with their teachers and friends in French is pretty darn cool. Especially when neither parent at home speaks it!

They do not care about the students well fair, or mental health. They hire inappropriate substitute teachers and everyday teachers. When I say inappropriate I mean lowkey either pedophilia or the teacher doesnt do there job. When My peers or myself would report the teacher or sub it would be taken with a grain of salt and would be ignored. There was a substantial teacher that I had twice, and each time would go up to the boys in my class and start massaging there shoulders and start saying "how's your work going baby?" And would continue to say thing about how they wanted to convince some students in my class into there home. And this substitute is still working there. Another example of a teacher being out of line was a math teacher named br. Burton, who works at skyrdige middle school. He would sit there for the entire class period, and tell everyone about his life. He never taught us the curriculum and would get mad when we would have a class adverage of an F. Again, my peers and me have reported the teachers that have been out of line and it has been ignored. At one point, one of my friends was being bullied and they reported it over and over and it was ignore and that friend almost committed suicide because they where being ignored. It took the person almost committing suicide for the school to do anything about the bullying.

Attended the spring band concert. Jazz, concert, symphonic and wind ensemble bands treated us to a…read morenight of varied and skillfully done pieces. This is a large hs (~2500) so each offering was medium to large in scale. We enjoyed it immensely but the wind ensemble captured our attention most due to my g'son composing and conducting one of the pieces. All in all a great program and these students should be proud! Well done!
