As you might expect, it's also quite expensive. It's not unheard of to see $250 skirts in here. However, you can also find more reasonably priced items, and while an entire closet full of these clothes might be kind of dull (not to mention pretentious), there's something for everyone here, and more variations on the eternal "little black dress" than you could ever dare to hope for. While they do have lovely tops, pants and jackets, I think their skirts and dresses are usually their finest pieces. Check this out if you're looking for something elegant yet distinctive.

The fluid cuts, interesting fabrics and color palettes at J. Jill usually fit the bill for me. I sometimes find things here that remind me of the easy-going and elegant pieces of Eileen Fisher - but at a much lower price! J. Jill clothes look clean, tailored and non-fussy in my opinion. The merchandise is high end, name brand. They carry men's, women's and children's clothing and shoes and a small section of seasonal household decor. Yesterday, I bought several gifts. The store was decorated with a pianist playing Christmas music. I found exactly what wanted and an associate carefully took the information for wrapping and sending. I saw several other things I wanted, including Christmas outfits for my granddaughters. I left without buying, but later in the day decided my girls needed those outfits. I called the store and Deidreana found the outfits and put them on hold until I got back over there. The outfits were even on sale. Returns/exchanges are easy. They put gift receipts in each package. The store is always immaculate and has lovely restrooms. There is plenty of parking around the store, although parking fills during the holiday shopping season. I recommend and will probably go back this week myself.

I maybe go in Von Maur once a season, and it is even more noticeable at least to me, when you visit a store in longer intervals. They do have excellent eye-catching merch displays and still focused on upscale dressing and seemed like every section had a sales associate to help and areas were upkept. They are targeting heavily toward the older higher income demographics. It is especially telling when you listen to their choice of piano music in them. I would think a salesclerk would go a bit bonkers hearing taped renditions over and over of sickeningly sweet instrumental earworm inducing oldies all day long. I'm surprised this mall chain has lasted, as it hasn't really changed with the times. As times get ever more difficult with less to spend in this way, it will be interesting to see how this chain reacts.

I would say this is a smaller location compared to other Express stores, and there are newer items that this store doesn't stock as a result. But they still have a great selection of clothes, so it's not a big deal. Probably the biggest issue is that their dressing rooms aren't always the best maintained. Generally it's "do it yourself", but when the rooms are busy and they need a staff member to help manage, it can take a while to get one back there.
