White House/Black…read moreMarket really does only sell black, white, and sometimes gray clothes, but everything is beautiful, well-made, classic and striking. As you might expect, it's also quite expensive. It's not unheard of to see $250 skirts in here. However, you can also find more reasonably priced items, and while an entire closet full of these clothes might be kind of dull (not to mention pretentious), there's something for everyone here, and more variations on the eternal "little black dress" than you could ever dare to hope for. While they do have lovely tops, pants and jackets, I think their skirts and dresses are usually their finest pieces. Check this out if you're looking for something elegant yet distinctive.

I was in there hunting for a couple to tshirts my daughter wanted and of course I had no idea what I was looking for. After about 5-10 min of hunting/pretending to know what I was looking for a guy came over asked and I needed help. I told him yes but it was a true hunt because I only had pictures. Well he knew exactly what every tshirt was and even though the specific ones she wanted wasn't there he directed me to wear I could at least get the same characters. He even patiently waited while my slow internet downloaded to go on the website. When I went to check out he suggested I look online, which I replied oh I can't wait for them to come. Well little did I know they price match! Once he realized I was looking for each specific tshirt he went on the website himself and saw most tshirt were 20% off so he matched them! Nobody has EVER given me such great service in there! I will definitely feel a lot better about shopping in this store now :)

Caveat - I HATE shopping and I HATE raincoats - so was not looking forward to the trip. However, Jocelyn made our shopping experience painless - she was knowledgeable and very friendly. She showed me the options and explained how each were different. She allowed us to chat but checked back frequently enough that we felt taken care of. Raincoat and a sweet water bottle carrier secured - perfect for our hikes, trips, and concert season. Is it cheap? Nope. But I feel you get what you pay for. My hubs has had his same North Face rain jacket for almost 15 years, and he swears by North Face rain gear for the quality. Jocelyn also explained that all of their products are guaranteed against manufacturers defects for life - so you just have to bring it in and they will replace it. Sweet. Also, while it might be boring to some, I like that the styles and colors never really go out of style with tNF. I have had most of my tNF pieces since college and they are still kicking (shout out to my first Denali!). Of note, if it has been a minute since you have visited The North Face in the Fashion Mall, they are now in a smaller space upstairs - no longer beside the Apple Store space on the first floor.

You know, the kind of jacket that you bond with and becomes your identity. I was attached to the damn thing. Anyway, I tried shopping on line, but it's difficult to tell the material and thickness of a clothing item unless you actually feel it. So, I was happy to find a brick and mortar option dedicated to Northface. Anyway, a clerk was welcoming and offered to help me. They had lots of heavy, hiking jackets. But not what I was looking for. The clerk told me I could find more options on line. Dang. So I left empty handed and disappointed. But the store is nice if you are looking for Artic wear. Prices are high, but the clothes wear well and are constructed beautifully. Visit mid week, to find easy parking and no crowds.
