The servers here are always wonderful. I've come here with large parties, just two, and by myself. Ever since changing their name to chicken run, I feel like the quality has slowly declined. Today I ordered the avocado toast with egg whites. There was no seasoning at all. The avocado was brown. The menu says "fresh avocado" seasoned with "olive oil, lemon, salt, and herbs".It was definitely just avocado on toast. The eggs weren't scrambled- they looked like they were thrown in the pan from the carton and scraped out. I feel sick after the eggs. The other person I ate with ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with scrambled eggs and sausage. The sausage patty was good. Eggs made them feel sick- again no seasoning. The pancake is whole wheat... but so sweet. They feel sick as well. Neither of us wanted to pay the full amount for the bill. However, the quality of the food isn't the fault of the servers. I don't usually leave reviews unless I have a wonderful or terrible experience. I'm just sad that my favorite place isn't one I'd like to return to any time soon. Maybe the cook was just off or different the last few times I've gone. Either way, the food just doesn't look great, and from someone who has worked in food- you don't send that out of the kitchen. read more

Pictures on Yelp are a bit deceiving. The atmosphere is not very "code". Inside is thrown together no real theme. The back room where my husband and I sat, was cold and the ceiling was stained. The radio speakers were busted so there was a very annoying static noise in the background AND they were playing Christmas music in February.. the hot coffee was gross. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The food overall was good, just not worth the overall experience. read more

Stopped in for breakfast while in town for Tech game. I had waffle combo and they cooked my eggs perfectly which always seems to be an issue with over medium. The coffee was good. Orange juice was incredibly good and fresh! My waffle could've cooked a little longer as there was no crispness to it. We came in with a family of 5 today,4/3/2022. They put us in the back corner where the handicap exit was located. We arrived at 0837. At 0850 we still did not see any server. There were 5 servers at the front, I couple more taking to patrons. I am very unhappy. They were pointing at each other on to who was serving us. Not sure why this place serves warm water to drink. The waitress Jen was unwilling to bring ice water but did finally brought one glass of ice and said the 4 of us could share it. I asked if the ice machine was broken. She said no. She said she just didn't want to take time to bring it. So.....she just called herself lazy? Formerly part of "The Egg and I" franchise, recently de-franchised. I never went to it under that name. Walked in today with my teenage son as part of our mostly weekly quest to try out all the breakfast places in Lubbock. This was far and away the best breakfast place we've been to yet. Despite it being very popular and full, we didn't have to wait for a table, nor long for the food once ordered. The atmosphere was excellent, and the service spot on. Drink refills were on the table before the first glass was empty. The coffee order came with a carafe. The food order was tasty and just right without being too large or too small (I walked out satisfied and my son with a small box). Did I say how much I liked the atmosphere? My son and I sat across from each other and didn't feel like we needed to shout to be heard. Good food, good price, good service. In a town full of restaurants this one has found a spot on my "favorites" list. read more

Ate here for the first time recently. Very nice modern, slightly upscale, ambience to the establishment. I had the Hitch Hiker's Benedict and it was very good. Super tasty bacon, diced ham, and a nice hollandaise sauce on crispy English muffins (2). The eggs were pretty soft, which happens to be the way I like them for a Benedict. I'm sure they will cook them to your preference if you ask. Comes with greens on the side which is not something I would expect. I didn't realize until later they are supposed to be "dressed" with some sort of vinaigrette or dressing; mine were dry. I'll know to ask next time. Water is served with your own carafe and a simple glass. Likewise, coffee is served with a small self-pour pot. I had decaf, which I usually askew, because I had already had a lot of regular coffee that morning. The decaf was surprisingly good and was plenty hot. I think serving the beverages in this manner is very prudent in a time when all restaurants are challenged to fully staff their businesses. It allows the wait staff time to better attend to more important customer service issues. I got my food quickly and the server was friendly and competent. You pay at a single register at the front. People are picking up and paying for to go orders here as well; caused a minor log jam when waiting to be seated. It was only moderately busy when I was there, about 10:30am. I could see it being a significant problem when they are very busy. Overall it was a very pleasant dining experience; I'll be back. read more
