Somebody recommended this spot to us, so we decided to give it a try. This is a busy part with paid parking on the Main Street. $0.50 per hour, but there is free parking in the back streets. ChickenRico is also busy, people come and go, some dine in others take out. When you walk in you place your order where the chicken is, not at the cash register. We made that mistake, and had to go to the end of the line that had formed in the mean while. There was no signage, so for people out of town like us easily make that mistake. I went for the 1/2 chicken with 2 sides, steak fries and green beens. The chicken is of great flavor, but not as juicy as I had in another place recently. The green beens are also tasty and great, as well as the steak fries, and the potions are generous. Chicken Rico is a good spot to try, personally I prefer a different place which I reviewed a few weeks earlier.

Quesadilla combo with plantains and fried rice

Ordered Chicken Rico for carry out on Grub Hub. Literally obsessed with this place. Got the quesadilla combo with plantains and fried rice. Came with SO many plantains. Price point was great for the amount of food. Came with salsa and sour cream and some spicy sauces. Thought one was guac- it was not and it was very spicy. Ha! Also had the fries which were kind of a flop. This is definitely the SPOT!

This is a casual joint where you can order up front and pay right at the register. The chicken orders are quick, but stir fry plates like Lomo saltado will take another 5 minutes or so. The half chicken order came with two sides and we chose yucca fries and plantains. The yucca fries had a good crispy texture while fluffy and chewy inside. The plantains were sweet and caramelized which was a good balance to the well seasoned (salt forward) chicken and beef in the lomo saltado. The stir fried beef pieces were super tender and delicious with the gravy soaked fries and rice. The generous serving size fed us three well with left overs.

Half Chicken White Meat fried rice and fries

Food was a 5, experience was a 3, so rounding up to a 4. We got here after the lunch rush & there wasn't anything fresh so we waited a few minutes before ordering. The woman who took our order didn't speak a lick of English so I struggled to order but we did half chicken white meat, with fried rice & fries. The chicken was extremely tender and seasoned to perfection. The fried rice was also very flavorful - fries were soggy and bland, but that's not at all what we came for anyway. The whole restaurant floor was sticky and the tables weren't wiped clean so that was kind of an ick for me but the price was good for the huge portion size.

Came in to grab some takeout last night and overall, it was a decent experience. We ordered a full chicken, fries, and rice for $25, which turned out to be a generous portion that left us with leftovers for the next day's lunch. The chicken was flavorful and the rice was well-cooked, considering the quantity and the value for money, Chicken Rico provided a satisfying meal.

This review is overdue because we already had Chicken Rico multiple times. We had the one in Dundalk and Highland Town. Both are delicious. I just happen to live closer to this one. The chicken is always seasoned so well to the point that the flavors from the seasoning enters deep into the bone and cartilage. I love eating the cartilage from the ends of the chicken long bones and even that has flavor from the seasoning. The sides are always huge in proportion. Both of the sauces go well with the chicken depending on what flavor you are seeking. The yellow sauce has more of a creamy mayo texture which is good, but if you are in need of spice, the green sauce will do it justice. I would say that it can be a little bit more spicer but I am someone who likes spicy food. We ordered to go and we haven't been in the shop since COVID-19 started and they have plexi glass over the counter and all the staff members are masked and gloved. As we were picking up our food other people in line were getting their orders quickly as well. This is definitely a place to come back to!

Everything about the food is great. This Peruvian rotisserie is juicy, tender, flavorful and fresh! Luckily when I went to get the food, a new batch was freshly out from their coal oven and so my chicken had that addictive coal smoke flavor in it. There are 2 sauces which comes at an extra $2 and I think it is worth adding those 2 bucks to your order. They goes so well with the chicken and actually lot if other boring food in the fridge. The rice in the combo platter was a great as well. Just with the right amount of zing. The plantain fries were too oily and sweet for me.

You have to be buzzed in and the dining room is literally the size of my living room. Very intimate. The food was superb. Stellar. Outstanding. Truly, each course was delicious, with layers of flavor and unexpected combinations. The ceviche in an intensely limey coconut broth started off the meal and I thought that if everything else sucked I would still be happy. But the dishes kept getting better. I did not anticipate enjoying veal heart skewers, but they were smoky and very reminiscent of good carne asada. The purple corn tamale was a very interesting mix of heavier corn with light ahi tuna. And even the little bowl of plantain chips they bring out first was excellent. This is a set menu, 5 courses on the weekdays and 6 on the weekends, and is a bring your own alcohol set up. As a result, there is almost no interaction with the waitress, and the food just arrives, but it is timed very well, with reasonable periods between courses.

I did not feel rushed until the desert course was served with the check. The variety of the dishes was fun to experience; each course was very different. Puerto 511 does really well with seafood. My favorites courses were the Ceviche Amazonico and the Tamalito Verde. The flavors were incredible. The Pulpo en su Causa was also a very interesting dish. The combination of ingredients and the inclusion of a cold mashed potato component were both innovative. I was disappointed with the other courses, though. The veal was tough, the lamp chop was tough, and the desert was not very flavorful. The quinoa flan and the passionfruit ice cream did not match very well in flavor or texture. The restaurant building itself was ok. The ambiance did not indicate fine dining to me. The service was not very personable. I would like to come back sometime in a different season, when there is a new menu. But overall, I would say Puerto 511 is definitely a dining experience worth trying.

We ordered a salad, lomo empanada, and 1/2 chicken meal with brussels sprouts & carrots and black beans. To drink we got a chica morada. The lomo empanada had a great flavor and texture which was great to split as an opener. The 1/2 chicken was flavorful with both the light and the dark meat worth trying. The chicken was halved right in from of us with a large cleaver and the freshness was notable. The brussel sprouts were plentiful, crispy if a pinch oily, and with a slight sweetness that went well with the chicken. The beans were fine; likely the only thing we would not get again. Both the mild (white) and medium (green) sauces went very well with both the empanadas and the chicken. The chicha morada tasted of corn, cloves and cinnamon and was a nice sweet treat. Overall, a wonderfully quick spot with great flavor in the inner harbor.

It was also very acid forward and lacked layers/balance to the flavor. Lastly, we tried two desserts: the flan (I believe it was called quesillo) and the chocolate one.
