Quirky as hell but probably THE best fried chicken I have EVER had!…read more This is totally the kind of place you'd expect to run into Guy Fieri and the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives crew filming in... heavy emphasis on the Dives vibe here... don't go wearing your Sunday best to this place... probably best to go after a full day of sweaty yard work in your grimy coveralls. I've driven past this place probably a million times... it's in Ogden (which itself is a dive neighbourhood so it fits right in) and boasts Broasted Chicken... but what the hell does that mean? Chef owner Doc tells me that Broasted Chicken means that the chicken is deep fried in a pressure cooker (!) - who knew that this technique = spectacular fried everything. The chicken comes out in fried perfection smoking hot (careful here because you're going to really want to take a big bite but that will require skin grafts to the roof of your mouth)... the product cooks in just a few minutes and it's not at all greasy even though it was just in a vat of molten cooking oil.. the obviously hand cut fries were pretty epic too with some very fine house made brown gravy... you'll probably wonder why you ever had KFC. Chef Doc squarely falls into the category of being a 'character'... I can see how he might come across as a bit 'gruff' or 'grumpy' and absolutely not fancy but he's super passionate about his food... I'm really looking forward to trying his fish and chips next time and/or his smoked brisket. Really solid! Getting a 'bucket of chicken' to take away would absolutely make you a champ at your next picnic or potluck... Doc tells me that his chicken is really great as leftovers out of the fridge and I can imagine that would certainly be true (next time I go I think I might order a few extra pieces to take home to do just that!)... apparently Doc marinates his chicken in some concoction of Indian spices and probably yogurt I'd guess and the result is crispy moist tender fried chicken that's just a little bit spicy. When I walked into this place I certainly did not expect a chicken nirvana experience - I certainly had one!

But for real, I…read morewas surprised by the quality of service that I received inside of this location, as I've never received that level of care from a Fatburger location before. Yes, we had our food delivered to the table like they normally do, but we also had someone come around and make sure that we had everything we needed, just like you'd expect from a formal restaurant. In addition, I was really surprised by the fact that they have a liquor license! Maybe I'm just a bit naive, but I really didn't think that an establishment such as Fatburger would have the drive to get a liquor license here in Canada, but I will say, it almost convinced me to get a drink for that reason! Buuuut I was more convinced to get a milkshake instead and for that, I have zero regrets. I went with the Mushroom Swiss specialty burger with fries, and boy oh boy, was that a satisfying meal. First thing to eat while back in Calgary for the holidays and I ALSO have zero regrets about that. I went for a two-flavour milkshake and combined the Oreo with the Mocha Java... OH MY WORD, it was one of the best milkshakes I've had in a long time. My sister got the Fatburger Jr and we were both quite full afterwards. All in all, good meal, good service, good time.

2026-08-09. Peter's Drive-In…read more My daughter said this is a local hot spot for burgers. The menu is limited to burgers, dogs, fries, onion rings, and ice cream which was very promising, but sadly it fell short of my expectations. Tried their poutine, the single, and the cheeseburger. To start, their singles come with what appears to be 1.5 patties, which makes a better meat to bun ratio; however the patty somehow tasted dry despite having the burger fully loaded. The signature Peter's sauce was also disappointing to me. It was a red sauce without a signature flavor to it that i wa sable to discern, and it made my burger a little sloppy to eat. 2 stars. The poutine was another disappointment. They use a thinner French fry here; much better to eat on its own with a little salt. The amount of cheese curds was also lacking, but the curds themselves were ooey gooey good giving a nice cheese pull. The gravy was decent and provided the needed salt for the dish. 2.5 stars. The shake was the only decent thing of the entire meal. You get to mix up to three flavours and I went with a Maple Cherry Vanilla. The cherry was bright up front and each sip finished nicely leaving a taste of maple on the palette. 4 stars. Coincidently I'm not a local, so this really wouldn't be my spot. But I would return for their shakes. The fries can probably hold theor own naked with a little salt, but I'd probably try their onion rings to see if they fare any better. A solid 2.5 stars rounded down as ive definitely had better. If you'd like to experience more come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!
