This place is amazing ! I love the assortment of squishes and Jelly Cats. Today was much more special, last minute I came up with an idea to surprise my daughter with a couple things and have wrapped. Considering they close at 6pm and I'm at work until 5:30pm I needed some help over the phone to place my order for pickup. Soleil helped me so much with selection , payment and gift wrapping. Now all I need to do is pickup and go home all before closing time! Thank you chicken little for hiring such a gem! read more

Chicken Little saved our butts a few weeks ago, or at least ensured that we wouldn't embarrass ourselves at Grandma Robyn's 80th birthday celebration. We were getting dressed for the party when we realized we'd forgotten to pack our four-year-old's clothes, stacked in a neat pile back in Los Angeles. Instead of letting him arrive in a dirty T-shirt and jeans, I rushed to Chicken Little for a ten-minute State Street shopping spree. My husband called ahead, so there was a sales lady waiting for me, ready to show me where to look for little boy party clothes. I quickly found some comfortable-looking denim pants dark enough to pass for chinos, as well as a couple of button-down shirts and a nice sweater--I was going to cover my bases. I was about to check out and run when I remembered our son might also want socks, underwear, and clean clothes for the next day, and I was able to procure everything in another few minutes of furious shopping. I even found birthday cards for Grandma Robyn and my father-in-law, who was also celebrating a birthday. I didn't have time to explore and appreciate the rest of the store, but it was big and charming, well stocked with toys and gifts in addition to all the wardrobe necessities. Service was fantastic. The woman helping me even said I could return whatever I wanted, but everything was cute and high quality, so I kept it all. I am now a devoted Chicken Little customer, and will come back any time I need kid gear in Santa Barbara. read more

Chicken Little - Complimentary gift wrapped birthday gift for our niece - Toy Stores Near Me - Santa Barbara, California

I have walked by this store HUNDREDS of times, and for many years never entered. Now that I am ~of the age~ that I have kids and my friends are having kids, I love this place. It is the only children's store of its kind in SB. Products are definitely on the high end side, but it's a great place to checkout those products and decide if they're worth the buzz I also really appreciate their program for renting hospital grade pumps. read more

This store has soooo many toys. My daughter was so happy! They have a huge selection of toys. I saw on the reviews that they offer free gift wrapping. I'm not sure if they still do because when I purchased some items the cashier didn't mention anything . The reason I'm giving them two stars is because the young cashier who rang us up seemed annoyed she never smiled. read more

Centrally located with ample street parking. Great unique selection and super friendly staff. April is a sweetheart, attentive, knowledgeable, courteous and very sensitive to our needs. An amazing experience! read more

Great products for all baby needs! Great customer service! Santa Barbara needs a spot like this! So glad you're still servicing our area.

I wanted an Easter basket for my niece. Called up the owner Jen. Told her how much i wanted to spend and she texted me a photo of the basket. Drove over and waited in my car and the basket was brought to me curbside! Never had to enter the store. Please support this local business especially during this worldwide COVID-19 crisis! read more

Chicken Little - Easter basket custom prepared by Jen! Thank you! - Toy Stores Near Me - Santa Barbara, California

Wonderful store with wonderful service. Staff was very attentive and helpful. After a bad experience with the sales team at Bloomingdales in San Francisco and hours of frustration trying to figure out what we needed online, we decided to purchase here - despite the higher prices- because the staff was so patient answering our questions and letting us test out strollers and car seats. We feel it is worth paying a slightly higher price to support a local business and have the ability to see everything before we purchase. We have also made several impulse buys, including a singing elephant and a unicorn onesie, all absolutely adorable and welcome additions to our nursery. My one slight complaint is that they do not carry a huge range of lines- we ended up having to order a Snoo online because they don't have it in store- but given the size constraints they do offer a nice variety. read more

I registered here for my baby shower and wow. I was so blown away by the owner Jenny and her team. Everyone was so sweet, friendly, and HELPFUL. They take so much pride in what they do. She was extremely attentive when I had a million questions about the safest carseat, stroller, crib, the best bottles, and other necessities. I also came in a little while later when I needed parts for my Medela pump and she knew exactly what I was talking about. They set up cribs in the middle of the store when you register with a sign that says your name and place everything you asked for in the crib. It's too cute! Everyone who went into the store to purchase gifts also told me that the staff was so great and everything was easy to find. Everyone in my family with kids has been going to this store for years, now including me. Thanks so much Chicken Little. You guys are truly amazing and one of a kind. read more

Such a cute store! Super friendly and knowledgeable employees with quality baby and children's items.

I use to work for Paula when she was alive (original owner) and she was terrific...her daughter and son are carrying on the tradition of Only the best! It was a job I loved! The people are fantastic, the products are equally fantastic. Everytime I get to California from South Carolina, it is the first place I head! read more

Absolutely love the owner, she is so cheery and helpful. Her staff is knowledgeable and willing to help and always offers to gift wrap like it's nothing, when really, it's probably a pain in the butt. Lol Although they can't meet amazon prices because let's be honest, not many stores can....I truly believe they give you the best price they can. Nothing is unreasonably priced. Could you find certain items at big online stores for cheaper, of course, but that's with everything these days. I shop local because of the service and selection. Their whole shop has been cultivated with the best! You will only find top quality items at this store and returns are seriously a breeze and they keep you in the data bank so you don't have to hold onto some card with how much merchandise credit you have. Love Chicken Little! read more

This is my favorite children's store anywhere - Such thoughtful and practical product selections with some unique offerings as well. The clothing is high-end pricing, but makes for great gift-giving and the occasional splurge on my own little ones. The staff is always very friendly as well. I have been coming here for years when I'm in Santa Barbara and it is always at the top of my list of places I want to visit when in town. read more

My husband and I came in yesterday on a quick over night trip. Prepping for our first baby we had no idea which stroller, car seat , bassinet to get. Looking online had us overwhelmed and all of our friends who are parents had such different opinions. We walked in completely lost and walked out knowing exactly what we needed. This was all thanks to Jen who is an absolute guru on all things baby! Thank you Jen for being so informative and patient with us. She answered all of our questions and together we all decided what worked best for our family all thanks to her expertise! Can't wait to order everything. Highly recommend this little gem! read more

Chicken Little is a gem of a local, mom & pop, children's store. From toys to clothing, car seats to strollers, toiletries to prenatal sundries, this quaint shop has everything your little one needs. Compared to some online retailers and department stores the markup can be on the higher side. That tends to come with the cost of doing business in Santa Barbara, and in my opinion, the convenience making an in purchase to support the local economy is worth the cost. The owner, Jennifer, and her staff are knowledgable about their inventory. They will eagerly help you find whatever you need. If for some reason they don't carry an item you are looking for they can often order it for you. It's a great place to register for a baby shower, or purchase a gift. They'll even beautifully wrap your gifts at no additional charge. I highly recommend adding Chicken Little to your child shopping repertoire. read more

Chicken little is a sweet children's clothing, toy, and furniture store. Perfect visit for moms to be, moms who have been, birthday shopping and more. This is a really beautiful store. As a mother-to-be my husband and I were checking out their selection of strollers and diaper bags, which was a nice way to see some of the items I had seen online in person. I think this store is a great place to buy gifts for other moms, as I probably wouldn't buy an expensive metal car (so neat!) or a pricey organic cotton outfit for myself but I could easily see buying it as a gift for a friend. They have a nice selection of books, toys for babies and older kids, a whole baby section with bottles/pacifiers/blankets/teethers etc. and a back room filled with strollers, cribs, art and nursery furniture. Overall this is a well-stocked store. Gift wrapping is available and there is a public parking lot about a block away. read more

Just a awesome little hole in the wall kids store. They have a great selection of toys and clothing you wouldn't typically find at other places. In the back they also have cribs and strollers and car seats as well. If you haven't checked this place out yet pop in and check out their cute little kid shoes. read more

We were in town for our "baby moon" and could not escape the burning desire to check out every baby gear store we could. As first time parents, we are obsessed with getting the best stroller possible. Initially, we ate at the restaurant next door and completely dismissed the store because from the outside it just looks like a toy store. However, we came back a few days later after reading the yelp reviews and were amazed as we made our way to the back of the store to stroller/carseat/baby furniture heaven. We were assisted immediately by the sweetest and most informed person ever. She was able to give us her honest opinion about the very high end luxury brands and the more practical choices. I was happy to be able to see some of the items I've coveted online in person (the Uppababy Vista bassinet holder) while my husband was in "Bugaboo" heaven - pushing strollers around and competing in what can only be described as "competitive stroller breakdown and reassembly." We were obviously not going to purchase anything on our baby moon and especially since we aren't locals but that didn't change the sales associate's attitude towards us. She actually had a great recommendation for stores for us to check out in Orange County. We ended up going to the store in OC and the customer service there was so poor it made us miss what we experienced at Chicken Little. read more

I needed a gift for a one year old girl. She has a lot already because she is very loved. So I went into Chicken Little without a clue what to get. Carmen assisted me with enthusiasm and a really deep understanding of the appropriate gifts for a one year old girl. The selection was wonderful. But what really helped me was Carmen choosing items and telling me what was good about them until I found a perfect book with touchy feely stuff on it and then a matching stuffed animal. The cute factor was off the chart. The little recipient hugged her stuffed animal that Carmen helped me pick and I'm so pleased. I couldn't have done this on line. And they wrapped it nicely and had cute gift cards. I'm glad little Santa Barbara has Chicken Little! read more

This is a great kids store - maybe the best in Santa Barbara! Lots of GREAT toys, books and clothing, baby everything you need - furniture and all. However, there was a Santa Barbara shirt I wanted for my daughter and they said I could have it shipped to me and that they would call me the next day. Two days later I called them because I hadn't heard from them and they told me they were still waiting on some information and that they would call me the next day. I was also planning on adding another shirt, book and toy to that order (rather than buying on Amazon), but it has been over a week and I still haven't heard from them - bummed - I guess they didn't want my business. read more

Every time I've come here for a baby shower or young kids gift (which has now been over 5 times in the past year and a half), the staff have been super helpful, friendly, and well informed about the products they have in store! They have a great selection of books, clothes, and essentials for babies and toddlers, this is my go-to place to shop for all the littles in my life. An awesome bonus is the complementary gift wrapping, which is super helpful if you're in a pinch. This store is a local gem, and I can't praise the service here enough. Thankful to have this shop nearby! read more

Chicken Little is the primary baby/kid store in SB (other than SB Baby). Yes, there are some boutiques and then there is K-Mart, but if you need a one-stop shop for toys, clothes, supplies, gear, etc. - Chicken Little is it. The first thing that one must know is that the prices are jacked up at least 10% from what you'll find on Amazon.com, much less what you'd find shopping around online (or buying used!!!!) However, the staff is very helpful and willing to explain things to you. The selection is also quite good for a brick-and-mortar store. The large selection also creates a tight space. It is hard to get through in a larger stroller. One thing that I've always been impressed with is that although CL sells the higher-end baby stuff, they also carry lower-end (hence cheaper) products too. I really appreciate this. So, all in all, I'd suggest going online for the majority of your baby stuff, but if you need something immediately or want to actually handle it, Chicken Little is a great resource. read more

Sad that this is the only real children's store in Santa Barbara. Every time I go in there, either with my kid or without, they are all rude and short with me, no one is interested in being helpful or friendly. Everything is overpriced. Very disappointed. I've gone a few times now but each time has always been just as frustrating. I want to love this store. They have a great selection there. It's just their staff that ruins it for me. read more

Chicken Little is a fun boutique store that offers unique items, and lots of local Santa Barbara products that you couldnt find elsewhere. The owners are very friendly. The location is ideal also. They do rent some items, but I have had a much better experience using the premium local service Santa Barbara Baby Company at www.sbbabyco.com - besides renting cribs, strollers and car seats in Santa Barbara, they also rent baby equipment in Ventura, Oxnard and Ojai. I have used them for many years and love their service. read more

Wonderful store and service! I am trying to buy local and decided to buy 3 UppaBaby Accessories from Chicken Little INSTEAD of amazon and I am SO glad I did. The took my order and payment over the phone in 2 minutes and I drove by and they put it in my trunk! Easier AND faster than amazon. Anddddd, I price checked what it would have cost on Amazon and the same 3 items would have been $1.69 more than what I paid at Chicken Little. So happy to make the switch. I paid less & supported a Santa Barbara staple! read more

A children's store where the staff (manager!) does not like children. I made the trek to Santa Barbara from our farm on Valentine's Day to spend the day with my 4 year old, to give her a sense of normalcy in these crazy times. As past Santa Barbara residents we have been customers of Chicken little since before she was born. It was the highlight of my daughters day. She was over the moon to see a ride on unicorn toy on display and was trying it out. The very rude manager Andy, told us that she couldn't play with the toys in the store. The toys on display. In a KIDS store. They definitely lost our business today, and we I'll take our money elsewhere. I'm horrified and disappointed on what was once a great store. read more

Definitely my fav children's boutique, especially the clothes and good quality and organic fabrics, teethers etc... plus they can special order many things too. We are expecting our first child and went into Chicken Little to find a stroller after a lot of research. Both my husband and I were blown away by the kindness, care and level of customer service we experienced. Truly the best customer service we've ever experienced in Santa Barbara. They helped us find the perfect stroller for our lifestyle and then helped us navigate a lot of our questions around what else we needed to be prepared for our little one's arrival. They shared things that we would need as well as those things we dont need. The owner spent so much time with us and answered so many of our questions. As a mom of 3, she was so helpful and caring in providing the guidance we so very much needed. We cant recommend them highly enough! Beyond finding a perfect stroller and other items, we also found peace of mind and support which are truly priceless, especially at this stage of pregnancy. read more
