I had Chicken Guy at one of the airport and loved their chicken tenders that I was excited when I saw that they have a location in NYC. Upon first look, the front is so covered with billboards that you can easily miss the location. First peek into the window the place was dead around 4pm. Since I recall how good it was, I decided to go in and ordered the chicken tenders. The place was empty and as I'm looking around, one staff came out, did not acknowledge us at all even though there was no one in the restaurant. He was on his phone. A bit taken surprised I decided to let it go and see how the food is. I just ordered the tenders. In less than two minutes they let me know the food is ready which alarmed me since there were no customers. Once we stepped outside I decided to open the box just to make sure everything is going to be ok. The chicken tenders were warm-hot. The chicken was juicy and the batter was tasty with spices. From what I observed if they don't change customer service, the place may close down. I will go just because I do really like the tenders but need to work on service. read more

I came here with my father for lunch in midtown. The restaurant is convenient for professionals in the area. We ordered through a kiosk and the food came out pretty quickly. The dining area was fairly clean for a midtown restaurant and the service was friendly and accommodating. The eggrolls and sandwich were fried well; however, they were a little salty. Something that is probably common for a fast food joint. The fries were crispy and paired well with the chicken sandwich. Located on 42nd St between Times Sq and Bryant Park so very accessible via public transportation. Order at Kiosks by the entrance or in-person at the counter (but 0-1 employee there that time so kiosk was better). There is an app but didn't work for me- after making our choices, it said error during checkout. Anyway, app menu and prices were different from the kiosk menu even when we picked the NYC location. Not sure why. As far as the food, I found it not to be anything special in terms of seasoning; not flavorful so needed the sauces that came with (avocado sauce for me). Large pieces of chicken though. Self-serve for fountain drinks. Ample seating in the middle to rear of the place. We stopped in 30 minutes before they closed and the place was a mess. We were told we could only order chicken strips so we ordered one order of grilled and one order of spicy. They made two orders of spicy and they told us that it would take too long for grilled strips. It was disappointing because my wife doesn't eat breaded strips but she managed to eat her strips. I have heard good things about Guy Fieri's chicken food chain so I had to try it as soon as they opened one by my job. I walked over during lunch one day, took a menu from Mr. Chicken at the entrance and proceeded to order chicken nuggets with bourbon brown sugar bbq sauces. I got the Loaded Mac and Cheese with chopped chicken tenders,bacon, and green scallions on top. It was just okay though. The chicken tenders were decently flavored and the bacon and scallions were nice too but the mac and cheese itself was really bland and watery. I understand that you can't have super creamy or thicker mac and cheese in establishments like this because they dry out really easily so they have to go with a more watery consistency but there's not really any flavor to the "cheese" part at all. Since it was the grand opening they gave you two extra sauces if you wanted. So I opted for the ranch and the special sauce. All I will say is that this chicken is not for me. I don't know what spices they use in the breading but it's deff not for my taste buds. Their fries were nothing to write home about either. The sauces were nothing special. Tasted like regular BBQ and honey mustard. I think if I am not wrong they make the sauces in house... But I could be wrong. They are also known for their crazy good looking shakes. My family and I were on a trip to New York, and we had a rather aggravating morning and were famished. We were back at our hotel and wanted a quick bite to eat. Next door was Chicken Guy! and so we decided to give it a shot. My brother and I going in got a lot of deja-vu/nostaglia vibes when we walked in. It took us a while to put our finger on why, but eventually we realized it kinda reminded us of the spoof fast food joint in the videogame set in NY called GTAIV. Specifically, it reminded us of Cluckin Bell. Sure, in the game, it was a spoof of Taco Bell and KFC combined... but the colors, how the restaurant was shaped, the chicken, even the mascot... it felt like we were in a Cluckin' Bell. We both laughed out loud hard when we realized this! Outside of this humorous realization, my family did enjoy eating here. The portion size is hearty, hell it almost feels like too much. The chicken is well seasoned, hot and delicious. The fries are perfectly crunchy. The service is way better than what you expect from fast food. Wow...except for 1 good review, all the others were really bad. This is one of those places, you should go decide for yourself. I met my friends here for a quick dinner. The employees were welcoming once I walked right through the door. The self serve kiosks were next to the door entrance though you wouldn't know unless you turn around. Since I shared my friend's chicken tender (3) with fries (thank you to my friend!), I decided to get a milkshake (treating myself) and fried pickles (another treat). The employee gave me an order number so when my food is ready, another employee brought it to my table. The wait wasn't too long. The chicken tender was a huge chunk of meat. It wasn't so moist or juicy that your fingers get greasy nor dry that you need a beverage to wash down the food. Eating 1 tender was enough for me since it was thick.I wasn't crazy about the fries. The fried pickles were perfect though it much for me to finish (yes, it's good for sharing). When the employee said their milkshake was good. I was skeptical since milkshakes can be thick or liquidity. I decided to the apple cinnamon cereal milkshake. It sounds a bit strange but since this is a treat, I'm going all out. Guys so listen I stopped by and had the 3 piece tenders not bad but it's not something I would crave for again the sauces for the tenders were really good the fries as well the chicken was very well done crispy the only issue with me was once you took a bite the inside was glassy not to my liking I also ordered the Korean bbq chicken sandwich with the grilled tenders and I rate that a 6/10 it has a really nice spice, the chopped cheese and chicken egg rolls were a 1/10 they had to much cheese and could not taste nothing the chicken nor the meat it was horrible we also the tried the loaded Mac and cheese bowl horrible a 0 the Mac and cheese was not doing it not sure what it is with his food but I gave it a shot here in New York because in Vegas when I visited it was bad horrible so sorry won't ever visit again sadly read more

Chicken strip portions are generous. Instead of chunky breading, these pieces have an eating coating along a slab of chicken. Fries were crispy and seasoned well. They were chewy and limp. They had little potato in them and were not fresh. The restaurant is clean and is a fast food decor. They're are seats in the back. Workers were friendly. The chicken tenders came out quickly but the sandwich took a long time. One thing to note is the workers spend a long time in the bathroom. I think yhe bathroom is the escape and break room. Both my friend and I waited over ten minutes to wash our hands and it was the workers in the bathrooms. I recommend a separate hand-wash area or a breakroom for the workers. The workers were fine but since the restaurant is an open concept and customers can see how the workers work there should be an awareness of what they talk about and handle the front station. These tenders are unlike most other chains; they're flatter, crispier, and heavily seasoned. Despite being heavily seasoned, the sauces add so much more flavor and depth to every bite. Of the 4 sauces we tried, the Special Sauce and Chipotle Ranch were my favorite! The Special Sauce is a mix of ketchup, mayo, mustard, and pickle juice. The Donkey Sauce is similar to a garlic aioli but had a bit too much mayo for my liking. The Nashville Hot Honey was pretty forgettable. There's 10 sauces to choose from so grab a few to complement your meal! The O.G. Sandwich was actually so satisfying because they butter the bun so well and the special sauce seeps into the bun and chicken tenders. The Three Tenders Combo is a solid option but you definitely need the sauces for that added flavor profile. The fries are nicely crisp and fully coated with seasonings. This place is across the street from my office, I was bound to wander in eventually and I'm glad I did. It was pretty empty for 11:30AM on a weekday which is ideal so I could quickly grab my lunch and head back to work. Walking in there are self-service kiosks at the front but I opted to order with the cashier standing in front of a wall of merch. The place is spotless but that might be the lack of customers. I ordered a chopped chicken Caesar salad with hot grilled chicken and waited maybe 15 minutes which is a bit of a long time...but I got my order and skipped back to work. They give you 2 to-go ramekins of dressing which is more than enough and the salad is a great size for lunch. The total came out to $10.88 with tax, you can't find any good lunch around here for that price unless you head to a truck and the good trucks rotate. The salad was great. I mean, it's a Caesar salad. Lettuce, cheese, chicken, croutons, & dressing. I didn't take pics of the food because i just wanted to eat at that point. I went with a friend of mine on a Friday after work since we had been talking about going here for over a month. I was really interested in trying the hot chicken tenders, but I was disappointed. When we got there we ordered at the kiosk which gave options to order combos, sides, kids meals, and drinks but we wanted a non-combo 5 piece hot tenders, and the OG chicken sandwich combo. After figuring it out, we realized there was no option to select only hot chicken tenders, but it only came as a combo (which we didnt want). The hot tender option wasn't even there for us to select, just the regular tender. Once we paid and receipt printed out, it was literally blank with no info so I had to speak with one of the workers to ask how they would know my order. After waiting over 25 mins for our food, it finally came. We got the LTO-Chili Crisp Ranch Chicken Sandwich combo, lemonade, and our hot tenders. The tenders were good, and the sandwich good and messy. The combination of all the sauces and coleslaw made every bite almost fall apart, but it was good. The fries were salted to perfection. Their Bourbon Brown Sugar BBQ is saucy and the slaw at the bottom cuts through the oil of the chicken. Great blend of flavors. According to the other reviews, many others share the same opinion about Chicken Guy's food. The best thing about this restaurant is the decor and the brioche bread used on the sandwiches. There was an excessive amount of seasoning on the fries and the chicken on every sandwich was overcooked and hard. The Mac&Chesse on top of the burger had the consistency of mud and tasted bland and plain. The Egg Rolls were too mushy and did not have a good texture. I found the oreo milkshake to be thin and average. In my kitchen, I have made better milkshakes. Customer service was satisfactory with a pleasant host and staff. In this area of midtown, I can imagine what the rent is like. It is unfortunate that the food here is of such poor quality. Chicken Guy could only remain at this location if the chain owned the building. Good luck, Chicken Guy, if rent has to be paid with such an overpriced selection of basic, unappetizing food. Even if the food were free, I would not return. I would like to offer some advice to the team responsible for the company's menu. The way the chicken is prepared should be changed to reduce some of the seasoning. The shakes should be thickened and french fries should be available with or without seasoning. We ordered at counter, sat down and 1 minute later our food was ready. Of course it takes no time when the chicken and fries have been sitting getting cold for who knows how long. I asked why they would just serve food that is stone cold. They had no answer but gave me another fresh batch in 30 seconds which shows they just replace the cold food sitting around. Incredible. The food was edible, but when you have a Raising Cane's, Popeyes, Jollibee, Bonchon and every fried chicken fast food chain you can think of within a 5 minute walk, you need to stand out. It wasn't good, the chicken tenders were bricks with seasoning, basic pool/beach snackbars have better tenders. The fries were over-spiced so that took away from enjoying the actual fries. Also, it took a bit of time to get the food when there was a relatively short line. Won't be going back unfortunately.
