As a loyal customer of Chicken Express, I'm deeply disappointed by my recent visit. While I've always enjoyed the food and service, this time was a letdown. I witnessed kids in the kitchen horseplaying, being loud, and carelessly tossing around equipment. Worse, I overheard them cussing and talking inappropriately, which was shocking and unprofessional, even for fast food. It made me question the cleanliness and safety of the food prep. The staff seemed oblivious, and no one stepped in to correct the behavior. I've loved this place for years, but this experience has me rethinking my next visit. Management needs to address this immediately. read more

My daughter and I stopped here to eat lunch since she is a chicken lover and has never ate Chicken Express. The staff were very friendly and helpful when ordering. In the lobby, a lot of the tables were dirty and it took a bit longer than expected to get our food out. My daughter wanted chicken strips, which were very good, macaroni and cheese and a biscuit. My daughter took one taste of the macaroni and cheese and didn't eat the rest, she asked me why it didn't look like the picture. She was expecting a brightly yellow bowl with fluffy macaroni-but what she got was dull and smushed down, it looked old. Her biscuit, she mentioned was for a baby, it was very small and she only picked at it. My chicken legs were piping hot when I got them-which I was happy about but once eating them-they almost tasted like they were not cooked throughly and I couldn't finish them. I was expecting a lot better food for 30 dollars for two people. Other than the food, the workers and atmosphere were decent. read more

I went around 3:30, maybe 2:30, not sure. The young man that was at the window had GREAT customer service skills. As an ex manager at Starbucks for 11 years, I know it when I see it. He was so attentive and went above and beyond. I sure hope he gets recognized for it. He had brown hair and pretty young. Usually kids at that age don't care. He did. Wonderful work young man! The food was great but the customer service was outstanding. So much that I actually thought how I wish I would have asked his name so I could tell the manager. Thanks kid. Keep it up! read more

This place in Lumberton is the best in southeast Texas. Always fresh and tasty chicken, along with anything else you want to order. The fish is wonderful as well. This is so much better than eating at a certain trashy restaurant in Woodville. We will definitely be back, and will let everyone know just how good it is. It's really nice to be able to go into a place like this and not have to worry about your past experiences, because it's that good. Great job folks. read more

As we were traveling the rural country side of SE Texas we came across an incredibly clean/pristine looking quick serve restaurant called Chicken Express. This location offered drive-in, dining room, and drive-through. We had never heard of a Chicken Express so decided to give it a try. Fabulous fresh food, and again just totally amazed at how clean the restaurant was. Looked like you could eat off the floor! ;-) The corn nuggets were the best I maybe have ever had. Don't go at 9pm even though they don't close until 10pm because the workers will inform you that they need you to hurry or they will have to ask you to leave. I have never felt so rudely treated at an establishment in this area before. We ate as fast as we could and got out of there. read more

I'm not much of a fast food girl, but Chicken Express has a special place in my heart. It's not only cheap, but the corn nuggets and fried okra are the best around. The corn nuggets are so sweet and tasty that I just can't get enough. It's now one of my favorite foods and my go-to fast food joint. I'd like to go more than I'll admit, but I would pack on the pounds fast haha! The service is usually good, too. read more

I was at this express with my 9yr old daughter at 7pm and their was only two cars in the lot. I order two #1s and a kids meal I drive up to the window and no one greets me for fifteen minutes someone opens the door and ask if they could help me I asked if I could pay she said wait a minute I waited another five minutes.She gives us our food and drinks then takes my card we waited again to find out my card was declined.I asked if their was something I could do so she went to talk to the manager.I was still at the window and another person came up to me and asked what I was waiting for I told her the situation and was waiting for a manager she said she could handle this and she said that she is taking the food back and keep it under the heat once my daughter heard this she started crying.The food has been in the car making us hungry and she said I am hungry mamma. They heard this and saw her cry I told them I would leave anything my purse, my wallet that my daughter is hungry I will drop her off grab my husbands card and be right back .Her answer was still no that she was gonna keep the food that I could keep the drinks but not the food.I said I do not care about the drinks my daughter is here crying cause she is hungry and I will leave you anything I felt like such a terrible mom.They would not agree to anything I thought this was a family owned business and how could any business turn down a hungry child!!! We gave back the food and will never go their again I am gonna tell everyone this story . When I got home I told my husband to go to popeyes.Shame on chicken express!!!!!!!!! read more
