This was my first time ordering from Chicken express in a long time. The chicken with bone in here is so good and they allow you to pck you pieces which I like because I hate thighs. I ordered from door dash so I cannot comment on the service or ambience, but I have been there before and it is what you would expect from a fast food chicken place as far as ambiance. We also ordered a fish dinner which was a little dry. They didn't have fish last time when I went which gives you some idea of how long it has been. The corn nuggets which I use to love where missing something this time. However the jalapeno poppers were just as good as they have always been. So about half of the food I got was as good as I expected the other half not so much. read more

I ordered to go, inside, only 2 other customers inside. After 20 minutes, received my order, nothing was correct. It took 4 times of going back to the counter for them to fix the order, before I finally had the full, correct order. Person working the register never smiled and looked annoyed to be working. Worst experience at Chicken Express last evening! Ordered a mix plate of livers and gizzards, with macaroni & cheese and jalapeño poppers on the side. The gizzards were so hard that I couldn't chew them; they were really small and looked like they were leftover from the previous day. I would give zero stars if possible. My experience started with a rude lady in the box who argued with me On what was included in the Mega meal. Then told me I'm Gonna have to wait for my order. At this point I'm annoyed, but ok. I get to the window and for the 5th time, clarified that we wanted 9 rolls and 3 biscuits. The lady at the window (cashier DT) asked I'm assuming the manager... and he said no! I'm sorry, you mean to tell Me that you can put one roll with one meal... but you cant change up the counts for a mega meal?! So Chicken Express does not care about customer service and for that reason, I'm done giving my money to This place. There are many other choices when it comes to Chicken and I'm sure they would appreciate my $50 order. Bye bye Chicken Express. 10/10 NOT RETURNING So after 20 minutes, the manager came out and did mention complying with our request for extra rolls. We were in the drive thru for 20+ minutes. I ordered the #1 spicy and my husband ordered the #2. For starters, the #2 comes with 7 tenders and 2 sides. It cost $16 and some change- practically $17. 3 of the 7 pieces were TINY (pictured). I think whoever is putting the food together forgot how much the meal cost. Getting these tiny pieces of chicken was such a rip off. Second, we ordered jalapeño poppers and corn nuggets for our side. We each got 3 halves of jalapeño poppers. THREE. They forgot our rolls and ranch for our side of *salty* fried pickles. The total was $36. I was so disappointed. I didn't enjoy my meal. This place is definitely ripping people off. This location has been really good in the past but yesterday was a different story. I stopped in to grab dinner before heading home after a hard day at work...you know, that place that gives me money for doing a good job so I can afford the basics like Chicken Express. There were about 5 cars in the drive thru so I went inside. One actual customer inside. They had tons of chicken tenders so I figured I was in for a fresh treat. Damn, was I wrong. I ordered us the 7 piece tender meal and handed over my $17. A couple of minutes later I got our dinner and headed home. This crap-in-a-box was about 30 seconds away from being totally cremated. The coating was so hard we couldn't eat it. The poor chicken inside was so dry you could use it as toothpicks. There is a good possibility I will not set foot back in that store again. I do not have a star to place here. Our order,to-go,was over $40 (normally not an issue) However...once home we discovered too salty tenders(even though they looked cooked for once)(that made me surprised)the mashed potatoes were so hard they held no texture for the gravy to slide into. The mashed potatos fell apart and we ordered three. Bc they didnt answer my several phone calls (busy signal...)(who has busy signals running a business?) we threw the plates in the trash. I finally got ahold of the manager the following day. He stated if I had saved the food I wld get my cash put back on my card. I have to share a secret...if you aren't part of the fortunate select people-in-the-know about these things...Chicken E has wings. Hot, bone-in, slightly spicy, no sauce drowning the chicken, deep fried little wingys that aren't cooked until you order them. And they are goooood. I'm not a big Chicken E fan - I prefer Popeyes or Babes for fried chicken. I mean, lets face it. Chicken E is just decent. Sides are very generic and chicken is sometimes dry and overcooked, but...the wings, y'all. If you haven't tried them, and you like a good wing, do yourself a favor and order these little gems. Chicken E is on to something here. And may I say about this location...the staff is ALWAYS friendly and happy at this store. I ordered the #1 with fries and an extra roll. Usually between $11 and $12. I just got home and was charged for the #2 ($14.99) with a family side of rolls ($2.19). Not only was that the wrong order, but I received my original order, so I didn't even get all the food I was charged for, now $19.25. The woman at the register took over a minute to figure out how to use my gift card. I don't know why she chose to charge me for so much. I'm on a budget. I went by again tonight after church. The drivethru was very long so i decided to go inside. My mistake. There were probably 12 or so employees on duty and at least one mgr. and I kid you not all big one of them were working the drive thru. One young lady, I heard (someone call Sophia) was working the front all alone. She was working very hard to take orders, assembly and carry them out to the dining room. I always drive out of my way to this Chicken E because its so much better then the one in Crowley! However, the last 3 visits have been awful! Today 9/27/13 6:30 drive thru ordering was not an issues. Get home (5 min drive) and my chicken is old..like leftover from lunchtime old. It's just gross. Today i went to the chicken express in burleson texas. To be honest this is my favorite place to eat. Having it be my favorite i have a love/ hate relationship with this establishment. Some days the chicken will be over cooked, undercooked, or they will forget simple items like straws. To add on to this complaint, the lack of cardboard drink carriers is a big inconvenience. And to add on to the chicken problem, the fact that i have had good chicken from here means the employees are not following their instructions. I tried explaining to the "manager" that their store is 20 minutes away and her response was "Well you will have to drive back here if you want your food replaced, I'm not going to bring it to you." It was my first time at Chicken Express and the drive through was quick. I got the family meal deal with 12 pieces of mixed fried chicken and two sides of mashed potatoes and country gravy, biscuits, a gallon of sweet tea, coleslaw, and mac n cheese. My family liked the food, but weren't fans of the mac n cheese. It had no flavor and tasted bland. I guess because it comes frozen. And I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw. I prefer KFC coleslaw better. Other than that, I like how crispy the chicken was and that it wasn't too oily. We will definitely come here again for a quick dinner fix. read more

Got a family meal, and the chicken was less than small. The tenders were mostly breading and little if any chicken. The servings were small and not very well prepared, but hey... we got a ton of gravy! The rolls were like all rolls, "normal" but the sides were minimal and not worth the price. She told me to make sure I told them that I wanted it fresh & hot. This place has one specialty... chicken... chicken on the bone or chicken strips. They do it pretty well. Their gimmick is to serve gravy with all orders of chicken but it's not really my thing. They also have a variety of sauces. My husband LOVES their cheese curds and that is the main draw for us. Their food is always hot and fresh in our experience but if you want chicken, you can't really go wrong. It is fast food, so it's only fair that you count on that when you go.
