I ordered the spicy wings and they are spicy fried. Not fried then sauced, but spiced then battered and fried. So not soggy. Big wings! Heads up though, they don't keep these prepared so order ahead if you want wings and they will be hot and fresh. Very tasty and spicy without being messy. Service was kind and helpful. They are the ones who recommended to order any for wings. I did t and waited 8-9 minutes, but having hot fresh wings made it worth the wait. I didn't go inside so I couldn't speak to ambiance, although I've been inside before. It's mostly bench (booth) sitting. Clean and well maintained. The regular chicken is fantastic too! Huge pieces. Usually love the food, better than Popeyes, KFC, and Chick-Fil-A. But tonight, everything was cold or barely warm. Next time I am going to tell them to cook everything fresh. Chicken express is THA BEST!! I'm from memphis and we do not have them anywhere in Tennessee. Anytime in by Texarkana I must stop here! The chicken is so juicy and the sides are always amazing! It comes with a side of delicious gravy and a biscuit or roll (biscuit is way better IMO) and the tea is so yummy! I love sprinkling the seasoning salt on everything too. It's not a healthy meal but it sure tastes like heaven and keeps you full!! Also, the service has always been good. I've never gotten bad/slow service and have never had my order messed up. Inside is very clean and has a zaxbys feel to it. But this is honestly probably better than zaxbys! read more

I've been to the Benton location a few times now and have become a fan of the two catfish fillet dinner combo with two sides. They seem to fry the fish up while you wait, which is nice. The three catfish fillet combo is too much for me to eat in one sitting. I haven't tried the chicken yet but if it's anything like the catfish it should be pretty good too. read more

Customer service was great. This visit was a bit nostalgic to what Chicken E originally was when back when it started in mineral wells, tx. Mashed potatos were so thick you could eat them with a fork like we did in the 90's. Gravy was delicious and thick, just like it used to be. And I know it's not guaranteed but it was an unspoken rule in the 90s and early 2000's you always got an extra tender. I got an extra tender!! I know we've all dealt with "unprecedented" shortages the last 3 years and I've never thought much about not getting that extra tender. I worked there for two days. in those two day I was sexually assaulted, verbally assaulte, and physically assaulted. The people there put there hands all over peoples food, I've seen one guy eat straight out of someones order.. Back to the SA they told Me not to report them that they would "fire" the guy. But then they didn't till he did it to someone else the following week. I was called fat on several occasions which might I add I'm aware I'm not very skinny but I'm far from fat. They leave there chicken in buckets on the floor in the back wash with no lids so who knows what kinds of chemicals are getting into that water. Their mash potato bucket was absolutely disgusting it had food and gunk build up all over the inside. The people there are rude and unkind. Not to mention they cut my hours I works 11-5:30 6 1/2 hours right and then 5-10:25 5 1/2 hours. Tell me why they are only giving me 8 hours plus taken $20 out of my check for a shirt I gave them back I called up this morning to see if my check was there and the manager was very short with me when o tried to explain to him I have to travel to get my check and I needed to know for sure that it was there. do not support this company till they decide to get their business together. I would hate for someone else to go through what I did. read more

First time trying chicken Xpress because I've heard it was delicious. Very let down for $13. I got the two piece fried catfish meal and waited 20 minutes for fresh catfish which is fine but they could've told me upfront because I was on my lunch break. You would think I would have fresh fries and hush puppies too? Nope. Tartar sauce is not made in house and asked for ketchup didn't get any. Not a drop of seasoning on the catfish, just cornmeal. However, in the middle of a pandemic, half the staff wore no masks, and although they had restricted seating, we could only find one table that looked clean. I had heard a lot about Chicken Express from my co-workers, specifically the lunch special. I went through the drive-through, so I'm not familiar with the counter service that others mention. The service at the drive-through was friendly. It took a few minutes to get my order together, but it was really hot. I got back to my office and went to open my box of tenders and. . . there was a religious tract taped to it. What the what??!! I get that this is the Bible Belt, but seriously? That was really off-putting and just bizarre. The tenders were really good. The biscuit and gravy was really good. The fried pickles were just "eh." That made me sad, because I love fried pickles, but I rarely eat fried and/or fast food. They tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. The combo came with a soda -- I ordered Diet Dr. Pepper and got regular. No biggie, but still. Sauce to dip the strips is extra. The chicken is good, but all in all, I doubt I'll be back. read more

Great catfish. I have been to 4 places in Benton in the past 10 days testing the catfish. Really good food, prices and service. Of all the places that I tried the catfish. I've been a longtime fan of Chicken Express, especially the one in Arkadelphia; however, the one in Benton has burned me 3 times now. On three separate occasions I ordered the #2 chicken tender meal, and each time have gotten hard, tough chicken that might as well be beef jerky. I've kept telling myself that it was a one time thing, but it really isn't and I'm very disappointed that they've ruined good chicken. read more

This was our second visit to Chicken Express Benton Arkansas. We like Chicken Express and there are some very good locations, Longview, Texas, Arkaldelphia, Ar. are good restaurants. The first thing that we encountered was the restaurant was about as cold inside as it was outside (11/14/2022). There seemed to be only one employee in the restaurant, it was approximately 2pm. We ordered, and there was considerable time before our food was delivered to the table, had to search for a clean table by the way. The food was cold. As previously stated, we like Chicken Express food. Like everything else the prices have increased, and if I am going to pay higher prices I expect quality food. I can't blame the employee, I think he was doing the best that he could. This is one restaurant that we will not visit again. However, if you want cold food, cold lobby, poor service and dirty tables this is your place! read more

This is our "go to" chicken place here in town. The reason is simply that they still have decently-sized pieces. Actually, the chicken pieces and the strips are MUCH bigger than the other chicken places in town (KFC & Popeye's). The flavor is good, not quite as seasoned as the other two, but the generous portions seal the deal for us. The prices are very reasonable. Their sweet tea is great as well. read more

Wow. First visit. Got the chicken tenders with fried okra. Fantastic chicken. Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The side of gravy was a big plus for me. The roll was good and okra was nicely battered. I have nothing negative to say. This is my new go to place for quick chicken. I think it's better than all the competitors. read more

If your a chicken lover this might just be the place. This was the first time at one if these for me and it was ok but not great. It ranks about third for chicken. Cost is little pricey , quanity average, quality just ok, menu is excellent in variety. Parking here was great, service was great and facility was super clean and excellent. Awful Service and experience. 20 minutes in the drive through for tea and FOUR (count them.. 1-2-3-4) hush puppies to stop on the way from Tenessee to Texarkana. I have never been so upset with a restraunt before. Employees just stood around and ignored we were there and looked surprised when we asked for the hush puppies. I absolutely love all other Chicken Express resturaunts I've ever been to, and was really excited for this pit stop along our trip. This is excellent bird. I have eaten at this Chicken Express since it opened and have become an ardent fan. This is a small chain out of Texas. The building is spotless and you can easily see into the kitchen. The employees are always courteous. Now for the reason your reading this: the chow. The chicken is excellent. Big, crispy, pieces. Lots of "crispy" but by no means over breaded or battered. Good seasoning as well, not too much, not too little. If you want a regular chicken dinner, you get your choice of any combination you want with no up-charge for all white. If you want tenders, these are a cut above the rest. Sides? You bet! Delicious corn nuggets, tasty french fries and apple or cherry fried pies like you remember as a kid. They have an extensive side menu but I have not had everything so I can't comment, my guess is it's all pretty good though. Don't think though that Chicken Express is a one trick pony or one trick chicken in this case. They also have catfish. I have had the catfish on several occasions and it's rather good. Tasty, cooked done, nice seasoning too. No muddy taste here. The fish comes with some really snack able hushpuppies too. Check this place out, they can give the Colonel or Popeyes a run for their money any day. read more
