I'm sorry, but $25 for 7 pieces of tiny tenders is not my jam. But I have never received exceptionally poor customer service like I did today. I am starving, I haven't eaten for 8 hours and I was thinking of places nearby where I could get something filling. The first place I thought of was chicken e. I typically order more sides and rolls to complete my meal so I make this an entire feast when I go there. Well, I drive there today at 3:29pm with one black car in front of me. They place the order quickly and here I am, next in line! I am placing my order, "can I get the 7 piece tender, reg...." "Do you want regular or spicy?" "Regular" "and for your side?" "Can I have mashed potatoes with absolutely no gravy and no grav....." "do you want any dipping sauce?" "(Finishing my sentence: no gravy on the mashed potatoes and no gravy on the side. Can I have BBQ sauce instead of gravy?" "So you do want dipping sauce? That's why I asked you if you wanted dipping sauce. So you want a 7 piece with mashed potatoes, no gravy, no gravy on the side and BBQ sauce." "That's okay, cancel my order." "Okay bye." First things first, (rest in peace Uncle Phil), but also I don't want anyone playing in my food. When I'm interrupted and can't even finish my order that's a problem. I don't know what they will do if it's perceived that's I'm giving attitude when really, this young woman doesn't have listening skills. But Chicken E does not have to worry about me EVER coming back to this establishment. Honestly, my first time having chicken e was in undergrad in Abilene. A lot of reviews talk about service but today they did a fabulous job. They had several workers working the drive thru. Food is always hot, luv the tenders with gravy, the green beans are tasty n coleslaw is always fresh. I like their fish! I would have posted 5 stars but they forgot the rolls. Terrible customer service and they always get our orders wrong. Today my boyfriend went to grab food for me and he was charged for someone else's order. When he went inside to let the staff know - there was kids hanging around, a young lady just wearing a sun dress walking around behind the counter. It's like a free for all. Then when he told them they charged him for the wrong order they ignored him. He finally got the difference back and the right order but we honestly should've let them keep the food and get a full refund. Because they still got our original order wrong! Shout out to Joey at Chicken Express off 287 in Mansfield. I placed a large order for 4PM yesterday. We were serving a late lunch for our family after a funeral. The funeral didn't take as long as we predicted. I called Joey at 2:45 and asked if he could have it ready by 3:15. Joey was SO great....no problem....I walked in the door at 3:15 and my food was ready!! OMG what great service and a great attitude!! AND great food! Sublett & 287 location. The chicken has always been good...not super greasy. Occasionally they've forgotten the gravy. When I bring it back they get me the gravy and apologize. One time they gave me a free gallon of tea to make it up to me. I'm not too sure why all the negative reviews. Agree with other guy about the fish though. I've only tried it once so maybe this isn't fair, but it was on the dry, overcooked or overheated side. Never had problems with the employees being rude or people refusing to make things right when there's been a mistake. read more

I think a lot of these bad reviews are for a different location. Yelp needs to start adding cross-streets so people don't get confused! If the place was 1 star, I would definitely be the first one to tell you that. BTW the Mansfield location is 1151 US 287 at Ccountry Club Dr.) Service: 3-4 Cleanliness: 5 Food: 5 Food: As long as you come at a busy hour with high food turnover, as opposed to an off-hour , your chicken will be wonderful and tasty!! (NOTE:I've gotten rubbery chicken here twice in the past but it's quite rare, so you might test it in the car before leaving the parking lot to be sure they didn't get lazy and let it sit too long or overcook it. When we immediately took it back they kindly replaced everything for us with no argument at all.) Besides, who can resist NOT tasting it in the car with that wonderful smell!! YUMMM!!! Otherwise the chicken, sides, and breads are always awesome. Probably no better fried chicken anywhere. If there is, I've never had it. The TENDERS are their prime item and they're fabulous, TENDER, juicy, and HUGE!!! (I also bought a single fish fillet on last trip to test it out, and it had good flavor - just a bit too salty, a bit too long under the heat lamps, and a bit too small for the price point. Although the it tasted really good, I probably won't get it again because of these things.) Fries are better here than any burger joint in my opinion. The sides here are all great and as good or better than many BBQ places even. Verdict: Consistent awesome hot and fresh fried chicken and sides that can't be topped by anyone. This place has got the formula down!!! The white cream gravy is wonderful, but we always add more black pepper when we get home. Oh and btw, we always go INSIDE to order for take away with a large order - never the drive through because it is impossible to see if it's all in the bag. I recommend you go inside to order as well. The food at all Chicken Express locations, is exceptional! I'd like to say that first. But for some reason the crew most of them hire are quite inept at their positions. Last week, on his way home, my husband got off of the freeway on his way home to bring dinner. So, he went thru their drive thru. He ordered a meal deal that includes one side! He also ordered (and paid) for another side and some corn on the cob. When he got home, all we were given was the chicken and biscuits. When he called them, there was no restitution given to our debit card. We were asked if there was anyway we could come back. We didn't live close enough to go right back. All the person on the phone could say was the girl working the drive they was off now and went home. Beware at this location. CHECK YOUR ORDER. Better yet, go to Burger King or anywhere else. I think it's illegal to take funds for items not served. We work too hard eat out seldom to get screwed. read more

This is for the Sublett and Hwy 287 store. I walked in at around 5pm today. I counted 9 employees working that I could see. Three customers in the lobby . I had at least 4 employees who looked my direction but never said a word ! I was totally being ignored! I must have stood there for 5 minutes. Where the hell is a manager!I I left and Walked about 50 ft to the Burger King next door. Chicken Express evidentially doesn't believe in store management. Went there this evening the drive thru lady took are whole order incorrectly then we have to wait to get to the window when it is was our turn it was like we are a bother to her we order a buffalo sauce she gives us chipotle ranch we ordered two number twos she gives us a two number ones the mashed potatoes were so watery it almost seem like we got gravy chicken was so hard and over cooked I called up there and spoke with Drew the manager he stated he would replace our order when we get up there he started saying it is the same batch of mash potatoes he refused to replace the order. I have never had a manager not replace a order. What happen to customer is always right. The only reason I give this store a one star was cause I had to. You suck drew. Awful manager.
