4 piece fish w/fries, red beans and rice with a roll
    Meme Mariee N.

I am normally skeptical about seafood from fast food spots but trust me this four piece fish, fries, roll and red beans and rice is so delicious fresh and crunchy. You don't wanna miss it so stop by your nearest one and get this meal you won't regret it. 5 stars from me :)

Ordered 6 piece fish meal was given about 8 with fries and red beans and rice sorry for no pic of it

Every time i get something from here its fresh and hot not only that but they also season the food and i say that due to the fact a-lot of places just cook food and its only ok if you use sauce or whatever but here when i order sometimes they may through a little extra but i tear the fish up but anyway I recommend this place try it out if you haven't!!!

Fried Shrimp, hush puppies, fries, yeast roll and tartar sauce

You would not think by looking at the outside this place has fantastic food! It only took 10-15 minutes, if that, to get our fresh hot food! The seasonings on all of it was delicious, but the yeast rolls!!!!! OMG so good. We stopped to get gas and I saw this place and checked yelp reviews, so we went for it. Glad we did!!!

I rarely give out 5 stars but I have to because the food was on point. I had the fish and shrimp. Don't know what type of fish it was but I'm guessing whiting. It was firm and cooked golden brown. The shrimp were jumbo and cooked a little too hard but overall good. The sides were trash but the seafood made up for it in scoring. The mac and cheese was basically cheese soup with undercooked noodles. The red beans and rice was seasoned well but undercooked. The rolls that people rave about was just ok. Overall the experience was pretty good. I would definitely go back. Wish they had okra on the menu. The dipping sauces were good also!

Fish was perfectly cooked, not salty! Great price as well. The red beans and rice are better than Popeye's.

I attended with a local friend and he confirmed this is authentic. The experience: Friendly staff, a long restaurant with a bar section, followed by the condiments section, followed by a whole other bar somehow? I didn't poke my head back there but I found that intriguing. More on the condiments: They come with any sandwich. I probably took unfair advantage by taking enough lettuce, tomatoes, and onions to make an entire salad. I then asked for dressing, which they happily provided at no charge. And sandwiches? Do get. Delicious bread. The default bread appears to be the French - you could opt for their sourdough if you like - and it's not toasted. I love soft bread, and the po' boy was divine as a result. I loved the boudin. I loved that they have alligator sausage in multiple places on the menu. I loved everything about this place except the fact that summer means just about all of the beers were light, and I had to hunt and peck to find beers more my style. Which I did. And maybe those beers are lingering as I type this review. But BeauxJax gave me the warm, fuzzy, welcoming feeling I love in a restaurant. A great stop in Bossier. Worth a detour from Shreveport. Legitimate Cajun.

The menu was interesting, with several Cajun-themed choices, as you would imagine. Nothing blew our socks off on the menu, but we appreciated the local brew selection. I had a barrel ages old fashioned. The bread was fresh and tasty. The menu has quite a variety...steak, chicken, seafood...something for everyone. We were going for steak. A filet was ordered and two of us ordered the 14 oz ribeye. From what I saw on other tables steak seems to be a favorite. The waitress came back and took salad orders, how we wanted the meat cooked plus another drink if needed. I ordered medium well. After a bit i order another old fashioned. The first one went smooth and good. Not too much ice, just the right amount of liquor. Chilled and good. The wedge salad comes out and it's covering the plate. Thousand island dressing plus real bacon bits. A nice touch. Just enough dressing. After a bit the ribeye arrives. It too covers a portion of then plate. it's a bit peppered but cooked right. The waitress asked us to cut into the meat to verify it was cooked right, they all were cooked as ordered. Truly a treat. The steak is gone, a little bread is left on the table, half the old fashioned is remaining. Definitely will return in the future if I'm in Shreveport. Between the service and quality of the food it's a must visit if you're in town.

To start, the menu pricing is definitely reflecting the upscale steakhouse that it is going for. Their Caesar salad was solid (4/5); I wish they had some anchovies on it though. I got the prime New York strip for my main (16 oz, $68) with a requested medium rare cook. The steak came out a bit tough, even for prime, and the seasoning was overly heavy on the pepper and the fat on the side of the steak needed more rendering. The cook was closer to a medium, which is fine, but it didn't help with the toughness. The sentiment of the group was that there was too much black pepper on all of the steaks and that the cuts were a bit tough (3/5). The sides were hit and miss; the Mac and cheese was solid (4/5), mushroom risotto was a bit meh (3/5), and sauteed mushrooms were also a bit bland (3/5). The crème brûlée was solid as well (4/5) besides the whipped cream on top. Overall, there were some hits and some misses but the toughness of the steaks and the over seasoning brings the steak dinner experience down slightly, especially at this price point.

One-Star Review - Unprofessional Conduct That Completely Ruined Our Evening…read moreThis review reflects my personal experience during a visit to The Hunter Crab. After being seated, my wife and I waited an extended period before our main order was even taken. During this time, multiple tables that arrived and were seated after us were able to order and receive their food before we were given the opportunity to place our main order, which immediately set a negative tone. Our appetizer (crab cakes) and drinks arrived in reasonable time, but the issues escalated with the main courses. My wife ordered two clusters of snow crab legs at medium spiciness. When the dish arrived, an entire claw was missing. The plate was taken back and replaced with food that was not what was originally ordered. Instead of medium, it was significantly spicier and caused discomfort when eaten. We have ordered this same dish here before and are familiar with its normal spice level. I ordered the catfish basket with Cajun fries. The fish was extremely hot when served, so I waited before eating it. When I did, it was overcooked in my opinion, rubbery in texture, and the batter separated in large chunks. My wife attempted to speak with a manager but was told no manager was on the premises. A bartender stated the meals could be remade and the bill discounted. Before that could happen, another male employee was brought to our table, and this is where the experience became unacceptable. Rather than listening or attempting to resolve the situation, this employee immediately became combative, argumentative, and dismissive. He repeatedly told my wife she was wrong about the spice level and insisted the food was correct, even after she explained it burned her mouth. His tone was confrontational and unprofessional. When he addressed me, the same behavior continued. I calmly explained the problems with my meal, and he dismissed everything I said, repeatedly insisting the food was great and implying that our experience was incorrect. At no point did he attempt to de-escalate, apologize, or show concern for the customer experience. His focus appeared to be on arguing rather than resolving the issue. Throughout this interaction, I was clearly wearing a combat veteran hat. This restaurant does offer a military discount, and it has been provided to us during prior visits. However, during this visit it was never offered or mentioned at any point, which stood out given the circumstances. At no point did we ask for free food. I stated clearly that I did not want my meal remade and simply wanted to pay and leave. As the employee continued to argue, I stood up to proceed to the register so we could exit. Despite no threats, no physical contact, and no aggressive actions on my part, law enforcement was called, which escalated the situation unnecessarily. When I began recording for my own documentation, the officers' behavior and attempts to block the phone felt intimidating to me, adding further stress. What made this especially upsetting was that the combined behavior of the employee and the officers made it feel as though we would not be allowed to leave unless we paid the full bill, despite everything that had occurred. In that moment, it felt as though disputing the charges or seeking further resolution could lead to further detention or arrest, which was extremely uncomfortable. What should have been an enjoyable date night turned into an overwhelming sense of disappointment. The lack of professionalism, absence of management, hostile employee behavior, and unnecessary escalation completely ruined our evening. We left frustrated, uncomfortable, and stressed, having paid full price with no meaningful resolution or recourse offered for the issues we experienced. This was not simply about food quality--it was about how customers were treated. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend dining here.
