It…read moreis a restaurant that always catches my eye while driving down Roosevelt Road en route to my barber. Its 4.9-star rating out of 20 ratings was the assurance I needed that I would have a quality experience. Looking through the menu at Chickies, I was interested in the Cheese Ravioli, Eggplant Parmigiana with Mozzarella & Red Sauce, Hand-Cut French Fries, and Jumbo Pizza Slice with a drink. I must say that I was surprised to see so many Italian items on the menu at Chickies because I always pictured it as a burger restaurant. I ended up ordering their Eggplant Parmigiana with Mozzarella & Red Sauce because it was the one thing my taste buds desired at the time--other than a slice of pizza, which I can honestly eat every day and not get bored of. I love ordering online for the convenience and the ability to schedule a pickup time. Most of the time, my orders are ready--or nearly ready--upon arrival. By the time I reached the restaurant, my order was being finished behind the counter. While waiting for my order, I just could not resist ordering a cherry milkshake--a rare item for me to see on a menu--while browsing through the menu to kill time. I joked with the employee that it is an item that will surely lure me back to Chickies. Because of this smooth experience, the likelihood of me ordering online from this location again is very high. "Mmmm... That is good!" was my first response after taking a sip of the cherry milkshake, which tasted exactly as it sounds. I had quite a few sips before even driving out of the parking lot at Chickies. It was so good that my mouth watered between sips, and I failed to take any pictures of it--which you will have to forgive me for. I was very pleased with the size of the Eggplant Parmigiana with Mozzarella & Red Sauce. It was beautifully presented and tasted delicious! Each bite offered a perfect blend of savory eggplant and rich red sauce, so I wasted no time finishing it. If you are staring at the Chickies menu and cannot decide what to get, look no further than the Eggplant Parmigiana with Mozzarella & Red Sauce--it will leave you feeling thoroughly satisfied. Being that I had a great ordering experience, I would surely order from The Original Chickies again whether it be Uber Eats delivery or takeout whenever visiting the area. Service: 5 | Ambiance: 5 | Food: 5 | Overall Rating: 5 ~ Think happy thoughts. ~ Thomas G

We recently tried The Original Chickies and had a mixed--but overall decent--experience…read more The staff was friendly and helpful, which definitely made a positive impression right away. The cheeseburger was okay, but the patty was smaller than expected and could have used a bit more seasoning to really stand out. It wasn't bad, just a little underwhelming compared to other spots. The loaded fries were a highlight--topped with cheese, Italian beef, and fresh jalapeños. They were flavorful and absolutely massive, easily a meal on their own. We also had the breaded steak sandwich, which was decent but could have used some jalapeños for extra flavor. Portion-wise, it was very generous and easily enough for two people to share. The chicken fingers were just okay--good size, but again, a bit more seasoning would have helped. The mushrooms were solid, and the onion rings were better than most--big and crispy--but there were quite a few broken pieces. We also tried the famous cannoli shake, which tasted exactly like you'd expect--a cannoli in liquid form. If you like cannolis, you'll probably enjoy it. Overall, not a bad spot with generous portions and friendly service, but some items--especially the burgers--could use a bit more flavor and a larger patty to really stand out.

I would prefer thicker grit consistency. The roux was almost like an Alfredo sauce but still pretty decent (7/10). The catfish was crispy and cooked to perfection with a good flavor and nice size filet for the cost (8/10). The chicken was good and crispy also with a good flavor my mom loved the waffles. The margarita was tasty but in a relatively small cup but the pour ounces was measured spot on a I watched her make it. Good flavor. Said it's what they grew up with and they've not had better. The friend I was traveling with was on board so it's how we both ended up having Serbian in Chicago. Lots of parking. Small private lot. Street parking galore. It was a sleepy evening. There was only one party (of four) when we went in. I have to admit, I was skeptical. But the aroma wafting from the kitchen ... My friend and I shared everything. Generous portions. I stuffed myself beyond what I should have. But I couldn't get enough of the grilled meats and roasted vegetables. I could have eaten nothing but the lepinja and kajmak but putting them altogether was so tasty that I just kept eating and eating. The one woman show - she was awesome. I don't know of many Serbian restaurants here in SoCal but when I do (and remember that is), I'll definitely go and see if it compares. I just know it was an excellent meal on my last evening in Chicago for my summer road trip.

There is no Yelp page for this business so these reviews will be misleading. The signage for this place is still Anna's but it is really a whole new restaurant with a new menu. We dined in for lunch today. It is pleasant enough inside with a few tables and about half of the space devoted to a bar and slots. The food is excellent and you wont find anything like it in the immediate area. It is New Orleans style food, things like Po'boy, etouffee, jambalaya, fried seafood and seafood boils. They even have beignets! My husband had the etouffee which he said was delicious. The shrimp Po-boy was excellent. Very crispy and the right amount of heat. The server was very helpful and attentive. The Nutella beignets were wonderful! I hope this restaurant establishes its own Yelp page and gets their own reviews. Unfortunately it is kind of confusing as there is no signage identifying it as a new place with a new menu. It really looks like just a slots place and the parking is confusing because there are two lots adjacent to the building that are not for this place for some reason. They were both empty. There is another lot just to the east where you can park. I hope this place can solve the identity issue because the food is so good and I would like to see it stick around.
