Carne Ahumada con Cebolla en Escabeche Servido con Mofongo Smoked Pork Served with Pickled Onion and Fried Mashed Plantain

Another great recommendation from folks that live here. Came here for my Birthday Dinner. I was completely blown away and impressed. Service was fantastic, attentive, and had great conversation with other folks dining and working there. I had a smoked pork dish, sauteed with onions, over mofungu, a mashed, well seasoned plantain dish (similar to chunky, rustic mashed potatoes). I had a side salad. They made me a surprise rum cocktail for my birthday with whipped cream and a candle on top! Service was outstanding, welcoming and the food was to perfection. Best meal I've had in PR yet. Nice atmosphere. You can either dine inside or outside and people watch, or listen to the live music or watch people dancing on the Plaza. Highly recommend.

Stumbled upon this place when visiting Puerto Rico and was pleasantly surprised. We opted to sit outside to enjoy the view and with the exception of a few stray cats, the ambiance was nice. Our waiter was attentive and the food as good.

Food and drinks were amazing! Right by La Placita! The strawberry mojito was amazing! Light but sweet. The mofongo with the tomato sauce was flavorful and hot! The veggie mofongo included broccoli carrots onions and cauliflower and mushrooms! The steak mofongo was well seasoned and the croquettes were hot and crunchy. Service was excellent.

Food is great and drinks are strong, but well flavored. We were seated outside which let us enjoy the festivities of La Placita while having dinner. Staff was very nice and service was fast.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around and I'm glad we did. We were a large party but luckily we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. The food and drinks were delicious. They did forget to bring me a sauce but it was fine since the food was so good. I highly recommend

The evening started off well with our server Maritza. She shared some specials for the evening and we were excited to try some food as this was our first time in PR. We got the Croquetas with Chorizo and Risotto which were Underwhelming to say the least. I was expecting Atleast a chorizo flavor seeing as there was no actual meat inside of the croqueta. Disappointing. We asked her to ensure that we had gotten the right order and she said yes and that the chorizo was cooked into the Risotto...o too if that they were lukewarm borderline cold. We told her this also and she offered to heat them in the microwave for us. Disappointed. We tried a few different menu items. The margaritas and mojitos were Delicious. For entrees we tried the Grilled Octopus, and Chicharrón crusted Mahi Mahi over Malanga. Octopus was cooked well but lacked flavor. A chimichurri would have made this excellent. The Mahi Mahi was awful. Whatever the coating was that they used was sweet..like sugary sweet and can you imagine eating fish that tasted like it was dipped in sugar? Didn't eat eat. Ended up going with just Rice and Beans and was satisfied with that. Our server had become visibly irritated and began avoiding our table altogether. We were finally ready to close out and she brought the check and as we paid she reminded us of the suggested tip to leave. We paid for the meal with a card and decided to use cash for the tip (which was already MORE than the highest suggested amount). As we're paying Maritza is HOVERING over my friend as she's paying and reminds her again of the suggested tip. My friend says that we will pay the tip in cash again, hoping that will satisfy her. Once she finished with the Credit card machine she hovers over the table for Atleast a minute as we're putting on our jackets to leave and the cash tip is sitting on the table and she reaches across our personal belongings and snatched it. Again..disappointed. The drinks were good but I'd never come back to this place.

We had a bit of a wait since we came on a Saturday night. Otherwise service was ok but the food made up for it! I enjoyed my chicken and my husband enjoyed his chicharon. The portions are big but overall good experience!

    Amazing

Paola is amazing ! We trusted her to pick dishes for us and nothing disappointed! Everything tasted amazing and it all came out really fast! Definitely something for us to come back to (:

Can't really review the service because our names were taken for a table. We waited, we were called because the table was ready and when we arrived the guy at the door told us they were "closed" it's 9 PM on Saturday night... The website states they are open until 1 am. Update: We are elsewhere and just happen to end up on the same street again... They are very much open 2 hrs after they told us they were closed. We knew this was a racist move from the beginning but glad it was confirmed.

We were told to list our names (8:30pm) and they would call/text. Never received either. We had to inquire within and we were finally seated at 925pm. We placed our order and drinks. We received our first round of drink and placed our order but never saw the waiter again after that. When we asked how long the wait would be for our food (45 min waiting at this point) we were told that the food takes anywhere between an hour and a half or more. It is now 10:30pm and we are still waiting for our food and at least a second round of drinks to keep us occupied but nothing. I would not recommend! A full restaurant doesn't always mean good food, sometimes it means the people seated have been waiting forever! Update: so we finally received our food. Close to 11pm and here is what we received. An over cooked salmon and an over cooked steak! When we brought it up to the manager, he offered a garlic sauce for the salmon and was pretty upset that we complained about the steak. He was not friendly at all! Never again!

What a wonderful place! If you find yourself wandering around Santurce you'll find an area with lots of restaurants and only one obvious choice- Chicharrón! The food is SO good. Lots of amazing PR cuisine on the menu and a few options just for kids, too. The eggplant parmesan and mofungo were highlights. Our server was great. The ambiance was pleasant and there were nice and clean bathrooms. We definitely enjoyed the AC on a hot day, but there's plenty of outdoor seating. A good time had by all!

We arrived at 11am on a Monday because that's when we thought they opened. They actually opened at 11:30am, so we were 2nd in line at 11am. Once 11:30am rolled around, the line was very long. It's an old house that was transformed into a restaurant. It's pretty big in there and they have an upstairs as well. It really feels like you're eating in a Caribbean home, from the colorful tablecloth to the things on the tables. The menu is on a board, and they have a Spanish and English version. They give you a cup of complimentary plantain soup which was amazing. We also ordered the fried cheese app which came with a delicious guava sauce. For mains, I had the fried pork with tostones and my husband had the mamposteado (corned beef, fried eggs, and rice). My husband cleaned his plate, while I took leftovers back to the hotel (which we actually ate later because it was that good). They were out of tres leches that day, so we had the coconut pudding for dessert. It was my first time trying coconut pudding and it did not disappoint! For drinks, we had the passionfruit sangria. When we left, there was a very long line outside. Despite the line, they did not rush us out. Definitely recommend and would go out of my way to come back next time I'm in PR.

There are so many spots that are authentic and incredible, but La Casita Blanca stands out in its own lane. It's gotten more popular and touristy over the years, but that's because they've stayed true to who they are. The authenticity here hasn't changed, and that's exactly why people keep coming. This is the kind of place where the menu brings you right back to your upbringing. You'll find dishes like corned beef, tostones con bacalao, and other classics that just hit differently. And the vibe? It feels like family. Someone who looks like your aunt might be cooking your food, your cousin might be serving it, and everyone treats you like you belong there. Food-wise, everything we had was fire. One of the people I was with is basically an "aguacateologist," and even he said it was one of the best he's ever had. That alone says a lot. Chuletas fried to a perfect golden crisp. The pollo fricasé (pollo guisado, if you know, you know) was on point and even came in a little pot that made it feel extra homey. Arroz con gandules? Off the hook!!!! And to top it all off, they had salsa playing in the background... which honestly had me sold the moment I walked in. Disclaimer/Warning; There will be a line!!! And if you're lucky enough to get a table, sit back and enjoy every second of it.

The inside looks like a cafeteria but it stays busy. We were seated quickly although it seemed packed. They have a good amount of menu options and cross out what isn't available. They also have drink options that our server listed to us. To start, we ordered the lobster empanadas and sangria. The empanadas were delicious! Very tasty and fresh. The sangria however, was not great. It just tasted like juices that don't really work together. I couldn't taste the wine. We ordered the roasted pork and skirt steak. The steak was really tasty, and juicy. But the roasted pork was very dried and hard. It had some good bits in it but there were quite a few pieces that were too cooked to eat. The rice and beans were cooked very well. This is the perfect place for quick local food where you won't spend too much. But if you want a very high quality, I would choose elsewhere.

My son had the churrasco (skirt steak) and it was excellent. We ordered sides of amarillos (sweet plantains) and they were the best ones we had the trip -- soft, juicy, with caramelized exterior. We wanted tres leches for dessert, but it sold was sold out. If you only had one "typical" PR dinner, I would suggest Bebo's.

We were able to snag a reservation but for a late time which was about an hour and a half before close. The service was super great but one thing I wished they mentioned that the bottled water was going to be a $40 charge lol. Makes sense for any upscale restaurant though. Should've mentioned we wanted tap so fair warning, ask cause you WILL get charged haha. We had a group of 10 and for how big the group was, the food came out pretty fast. I don't think we ever had a time between drinks to entrees where we were waiting for food to come out. We got the watermelons mojito for drinks since it was the most raved about. It was good but personally nothing crazy for me. 8/10 score on that. We also curry popcorn chicken, the ahi tuna lollipops, the empanadillas and the goat cheese quesadillas for apps and honestly overall 9/10. This is where I don't like the sweetness part of this meal. The empanadillas were what I was most excited for but it was more sweet then savory which sort of lose my appetite a little. I think if you like that kind of taste then it's going to be good. It wasn't a bad taste at all. Just too sweet for my liking. The curry popcorn chicken was good and the lollipops were great. Again, nothing crazy. The goat cheese quesadillas was good as well but again, too sweet for my liking. Now on to the entree, they didn't have the porkchop since we came late so I ended up getting the porkchop belly dish. When it came out, it looked amazing but then I got a whiff of it and smelled cinnamon. That's when I was sort of disappointed. It was like eating pork but tasting Cinnamon Toast Crunch and as said before, it tasted great but too sweet for me. This one was way too sweet to where it seemed like a dessert item. I just had poor luck and got one of the one items that were sweet. This doesn't tank the rating down whatsoever because I also should've read it had cinnamon. It would've been great if they made a dipping sauce or something to pair it with and not have it on the pork belly itself. I got to try other dishes my friends got which were good as well but I wish I got to try something else. If I came back I would try the sold out item which was the pork shank or the sea bass. I know for a fact the sea bass was amazing. Had a bite of it and thought "I'll come back for that" Overall, 10/10 experience and nothing bad about the place but gotta try different items when I go next time. I understand the hype now

Out of all the restaurants I visited in Puerto Rico, my friends and I came to the agreement that this was definitely the best one, and I can't believe we almost didn't come! To start off, the staff is super nice and made us feel welcome. I may be biased because one of them complimented my "gracias" (lol) but they were accommodating and patient as we had a hard time deciding what we wanted to order, since everything looked so good! The pinchos de atun was a must-try since everyone online was talking about that dish in particular, and it was AMAZING. The tuna is so fresh and complimented so well by the sauce and the rice cracker. The ceasar salad was flavorful and a great addition, since we didn't have much veggies at that point in our trip. And the sea bass!! SO tender and delicious. We also got the perfect lady cocktail and the guava & cheese bread pudding, and both were perfectly sweet and balanced out the rest of the meal. Everything about this place was amazing. The inside of the restaurant is very pretty and it's located near La Placita, so easily accessible to the nightlife if you want to party afterward. I will definitely be recommending Santaella to all my friends and coming back if I visit San Juan again.

My daughter and wife ordered the monfongo with Bistec and mini empanadillas which is a regular beef empanada cut in half. Mix some of that hot sauce with it and BAM! You got the perfect appetizer. The monfongo was their star. I was chowing down on my pork chop but I had to steal a few bites lol. The beef was tender and delicious and the monfongo was soaked in the steak sauce, it was bliss!
