In the beginning, they did have lines outside of the door, which is why people have had a negative experience. Thankfully, staff work much faster now = drinks are out much quicker! Props to them! Tip: they have tea leaves of each type of drink at the front counter (at least last time I was there), so you can smell each tea leaves and have a sense for what they taste like. Got the high mountain tea with passionfruit and taro balls. High mountain tea was too light and overpowered by the passionfruit flavor. Taro balls were nice and warm and more textured than boba balls. I think it's a miss that there aren't any lactose free milk or non-dairy options. Would've enjoyed a milk tea. Personally don't like the electronic ordering option only where all the workers are busy working on the tea and nobody greets you when you walk in and they call out your name to give you the tea, but they don't really acknowledge you and there really isn't any kind of human interaction. Chicha San Chen Fact: While the brand is heavily marketed as having "Michelin-star boba," this actually refers to the Superior Taste Award from the International Taste Institute. Specifically, several of their tea varieties have received a 3-star Superior Taste Award from the Institute, which is often referred to in the industry as being the equivalent of a 3-star Michelin award. I've love this tea shop ever since I discovered it in California and was happy to see them finally opened here! There's now an online app you can order ahead and definitely taking advantage of that. Their teas are legit and a short session explaining their tea roasts are given on weekends. You can't go wrong with any of their drinks, whether you go with their recommended combinations or make your own plus the packaging is everything. Drinks are given in a sleeve tied to a string to help carry them! I did have a less-than-ideal experience a few weeks ago when we stopped by in the evening. We went to the register and stood there for about 5-10 minutes without any acknowledgment from the staff. Eventually, someone came over and directed us to place our orders at the kiosks tucked away in the corner. I'm completely fine with ordering through the kiosks, but do wish there had been a sign at the counter letting customers know. The kiosks had also been moved from their previous location, so without any signage, it wasn't immediately clear where we were supposed to order or whether the kiosks were even working. A simple sign or some direction at the counter would have made the experience much smoother so hopefully that's been fixed as we did kindly suggest that to the staff upon encountering this. read more

Tried Chicha San Chen in Chandler for the first time, and this place was right up my alley! I'm definitely more of a tea person than a coffee person, so I was excited to give it a try. I really loved the cream top on the tea. It made the drink extra creamy and refreshing, especially on a hot Arizona day! I had a late lunch in the area over the weekend and realized how close I was to Chicha Sanchen so I decided to stop by around 4:30 PM. The place was busy with plenty of customers waiting for their drink orders. Although there were a few tables, they were all taken. Fortunately, their waiting area is pretty spacious. I placed my order at the self-serve kiosk and chose one bubble milk tea with 50% sugar and one classic fruit tea with original sugar. I was then given an ETA of 74 minutes! I asked another customer waiting how long she had been waiting and she said 30 minutes and received her order shortly after so I decided to stick around. Just a little over 30 minutes later, my number was finally called. The drinks were tasty, and I definitely appreciate the quality ingredients, especially the tea and boba. However, I don't see myself going out of my way to return. Pro-tip: order online ahead of time! read more

Finally got to try this place out recently after waiting a bit for the hype to die down. Spoiler alert, the hype did not die down. We came in around 11:45 on a Monday and they were packed; all the tables were taken, and many others were waiting near the entrance. A friend of mine had found out I was heading here and highly encouraged me to order online ahead of time to save time and also asked me to pick up her order as well. I ended up picking up my order (2 drinks) and hers (6 drinks) with no hassle. Both of our orders were promptly ready by the time I went in. With a quick friendly exchange and order confirmation, our orders were packed up with care in multiple bags for easy transportation. For my order, we ordered an osmanthus tea + passion fruit with konjac jelly with perfect sugar, and an osmanthus tea + orange with grass jelly with less sugar. Both drinks were very light and refreshing. Even at perfect sugar, it was not too sweet. You could really tell their tea, and ingredients were made with the utmost care and were of high quality. Initially, I was skeptical about trying this place out because tea in general is a hit or a miss for me for feeling after effects, but the tea I tried was not too strong. For the price and wait and the taste of the tea, I didn't think it was anything special. It's one of those places where you go just to say you've tried it. Service was nice but it does take long if it's your first time as they explain their concert and give a sample. I was able to sample the Cassia Black Milk Tea. I enjoyed it and asked for that along with the mousse on top. I should have paid more attention and ordered it properly but I forgot to mention milk. By the time we got our drinks, left and then tried it, I realized I got just the Cassia Black Tea with mousse. It was so disappointing. I had a really great experience here! My friends and I came by around 1pm during the week and there was no line! The inside is very bright, clean and modern. I finally had a chance to try this place again. Everything is improved since the hype has died down. You don't have to wait a super long time since they have online order available. Earlier when this place opened up, I did an online order but it was a half hour wait. More recently I did an order and it was only about a 10 minute wait. Unfortunately it takes longer because of the tea seeping process. I had a the orange lemon drink and then the traditional milk tea. The orange lemon was so tart for me. The boba balls in the milk tea were nice and chewy. And more recently I had the mango cream which was quite tasty and refreshing. I loved being able to watch the workers make all of the drinks; carefully measuring and brewing the tea and then placing the drinks into cute little containers that you can carry like a bag! 7.10.26 - had today off to get some last minute things done before my trip and stopped here on my way home. The place is bigger than I expected. Very open space and bright inside. To the right, there is a tea tasting station with little dishes filled with different teas you can smell. Tea tasting has scheduled times so check their times for the next one! Next to it is a wall of items for sale. On the left is where you order and can watch them make your drink. There were already some people waiting for their drinks. All tables were filled but luckily no line when ordering, so it was quick for me! Two employees at the counter helped and they were very knowledgeable about the flavors of the different teas and explained the process as well. I was debating between the black teas. Wasn't sure what Cassia was and she told me it smells like vanilla. They have samples containers you can smell. She was right! The Cassia smelled sweet so I went for this one and chose the cream with taro ball. My drink was ready in about 8 mins and it was delicious! Perfect level of sweetness for me and the taro ball was so soft and chewy. I only wish it was a larger size for the price. $8 + $1 tip. Pro-tip: If you're in a rush, I wouldn't recommend coming here just yet while they are still training people. If you order online, the estimated pick up time is absurdly off for example I ordered at 3:16 PM and the estimated pick up was 4:44 PM but then I got a text at 3:46 PM that it was ready. Highlights: I've visited Chi Cha in Vegas, so it was exciting to see an opening in Chandler. The café is really pretty, spacious, has lots of seating and smells delicious. They have a fair amount of tea options to choose from along with toppings and additional added flavors. Personally, I prefer their teas like jasmine tea, putong mountain tea, honey osmanthus oolong tea over the milk teas. I love the option of adding konjac jelly. Lowlights: The service is really slow as they are going through what I assume is training struggles. It takes almost 20 to 30 minutes for your drink to be made even though they have a bunch of workers dedicated to only making drinks. They give too many toppings for the amount of tea that you get. Their milk teas are too diluted and milky tasting for me - I've tried with cream and milk, and I prefer milk teas from other places that have a stronger tea flavor. read more

I came with my friend on a Saturday afternoon and was so surprised there was no line. While we were looking at the menu, Chloe greeted us and helped us with our order. She gave us a sample of the black tea with cream, which was amazing and exactly what my friend needed. I wasn't sure what to get, but she recommended the mango oolong tea and I loved it! (soft opening at time of review) This has been a highly anticipated opening after it was announced a few months ago and I think they picked a pretty good location being next to Chandler mall and just a mile or 2 from the ranch 99 plaza. I have had friends explain they waited around 1-1:45 hours on the first day and my visit was quite quick surprisingly. I went in with no line, and while the place itself was busy, the drinks didn't take too long and I was out in less than 30 minutes. The staff is friendly, and knowledgeable when it comes to explaining their teas and recommendations and offered an orange and lemon tea to sample. The interior is super modern and bright. On one side, you have the drink making station, and on the other, you have seating and the tea sample bar. You're able to reserve a tea sampling which is pretty cool; I tried it when it was hosted by the hour during grand opening, and I'd love to do it again with my friends. We came to check out Chicha San Chen to see what all the hype was about. The shop is clean, bright, and has a modern vibe. There was a line when we got there, but it moved pretty quickly. We ordered a couple of drinks, including a fruit tea with 0% sugar. Even with 0% sugar, it was still sweeter than I expected. I did like that the drinks actually tasted like tea instead of sugary water. One thing I have to mention is the rope carrier. It's such a cute idea! Definitely would order light sugar again for the Oolong and also for the Pouchong next time! Interior is really clean and pretty. We went during the middle of a weekday (on grand opening day) and luckily it wasn't too busy. We didn't have to wait too long in line, which was a plus. It was my first time here and wasn't quite sure what to order. We did get a sample of one of their teas at the counter, which was light and floral. We ended up getting the Green Milk Tea and Creamy Lemon Tart. The Lemon Tart was bright and not too tart. The Green Milk Tea was light. Wanted to try the new chicha san chen location since I had been to other locations in Dallas and Houston. Thought I beat the crowd because I came in and there was no line or wait, but shortly after the crowd started picking up after I ordered. I had an order of 4 drinks and continued to see my number get lower on the processing list. I ended up waiting a total of 45 minutes for the boba because while 3 of my drinks were ready after I checked in at 20min there was one that still was unfinished. All while there were other orders being finished that came well after me. The drinks maintain quality between the different store fronts but the lack of efficiency and time management from the staff is what gives it the knock down. If you're considering coming here to try, I would give it some time for the hype to die down or for the staff to become more efficient at their work. read more

Wasn't asked for nondairy options so I don't think I'll come much here as I see they only use whole milk. SO excited to have a Chicha Sanchen in Arizona! Same incredible quality as their SoCal locations, equally knowledgeable workers, and fairly speedy pace if you're not fighting the crowds on a weekend. We showed up around 6:30pm on a Wednesday during their soft opening. We were happily second line and got our drinks in less than 15 minutes. The Dong Ding Oolong tea -- one of my favorites -- was just as delightful as I remembered. It's creamy with a nice roasted aroma, almost resembling a hojicha latte when you get it with milk or cream. I also loved how pronounced the floral notes of the Osmanthus Oolong tea were. The aroma is divine, and the boba was perfectly chewy in my drink. The Chicha San Chen brewing method remains unmatched, even after trying another AZ spot that uses similar machines. I find that the "less sweet" option brings out the tea flavors best. I love how every customer-facing employee was so friendly and able to share detailed insights about each tea, offering samples when available. Parking was easy to find and the store was well-lit with a retail section for home brews. Can't wait to return :) read more

I've been here twice now during their soft opening and have had an okay experience both times. The space is well kept so far, and the service for ordering is exceptionally efficient whether there is a line or not. There are two registers, and the people at the register are friendly and quick. The drinks are also made rather quickly despite how large the crowd is. Where it goes downhill is actually receiving the drinks. During my first visit, it wasn't busy, and I watched the employee handling my two drinks take 10 minutes to prep it--place the sticker, insert the drink holder, slide in the straw, and twist the strings. She was moving at the pace of a snail and was constantly distracted by a side conversation with another employee also stationed to prep the drinks. Today, it was incredibly busy, but again, everything was efficient until you're waiting for the drink to be called. They're well staffed, and I believe that's the reason why the drinks are made so quickly; however, despite there being 2-3 people stationed to prep the completed drinks, I waited nearly an hour to receive mine. I sincerely hope they figure this aspect out, because I anticipate them to remain busy for a while. 1. There's not a clear division of tasks; at one point, there was an order of 10+ drinks, and the only two people prepping were both working to bag the drinks while allowing 10+ additional drinks to stack up, waiting to be prepped and served. The bagging likely could've been completed by one person. 2. A third person stepped in to help, yet he had no idea how to prep it, and straws were falling all over the place when someone picked up their drinks. I watched him prep several drinks without calling out order numbers. 3. Drinks are prepped and the numbers are sometimes called out, but then they're left sitting there if no one retrieves it. There's maybe 1 or 2 follow-ups, but zero care whether the drinks actually get picked up, which resulted in at least 20 drinks sitting on the counter and many people waiting for longer than necessary. While there's responsibility on the customer's part to listen for their number, there should be a more effective way to notify customers when their order is ready. 4. Some numbers don't even get called (mine). I waited at least an extra 30 minutes unnecessarily because my number was never called. Additionally, my order number was still showing on the "in progress" list on the TV despite having been completed and sitting on the counter. It was prepped and ready to go, but no one called the number. It seems some people simply prep the drinks and do nothing to get the drinks out. My two points of feedback for the business: 1) Re-train the staff prepping the drinks. 2) Develop a better system for informing guests. The tv displaying what orders are in progress and complete is useless if it's not being updated properly, and it could be more effective if all order numbers fit on the screen. With only 10-12 numbers displayed, if you don't realize or wait for the screen to change, you may miss that your order is complete if they actually update the status. Having a single screen that shows all completed orders would be more guest-friendly. My recommendation for guests: Definitely check out this place--the drinks are phenomenal. My favorites are the honey osmanthus oolong (tastes like chrysanthemum tea) and the orange lemon pouchong tea (excellent, refreshing balance of orange and lemon). If you feel like you've been waiting an unusually long time for your drink, you probably are and should go check the counter, because it could just be sitting there. read more

One of my favorite things is watching the staff carefully prepare each drink. You'll often see them checking brewing temperatures with thermometers and paying close attention to ensure the control. Sometimes you'll see them sniff the yeast leaves. As someone who appreciates consistency (and maybe geeks out a little over quality control ), I love seeing that. Some locations even offer complimentary tea tastings, and many sell loose tea leaves so you can enjoy their teas at home. Depending on the location, you may also find limited seasonal or specialty series like taro or grape osmanthus drinks. While the Chandler location has a standard menu, there are still plenty of ways to customize your drink with different sweetness levels, ice levels, and toppings. A friendly warning: expect a wait! The line can be long, and even after ordering there's usually a bit more time while your drink is freshly brewed. Good tea takes time, and freshness matters in terms of aroma and flavor in my opinion. You wouldn't want your tea to be "tea-ribble," but the choice is yours so I'll "leaf" it up to you. read more

FYI: I missed it because it was over but a few times a day throug the day they have Tea tasting. It's NOT the tea they sell in the drinks. It's different types of tea only for tasting. The worker told me it's a special type of teas that are really hard to grow, so they only get harvested twice a year in Taiwan. You'll get to taste 5-6 different types of teas. After I ordered, the wait is about 15 mins. The staff are very nice and offered if I don't like the drink, they're happy to remake it. I got the Orange Lemon Pouchong Tea: it's very refreshing and creamy at the same time, tastes like a lemon sorbet. Also got the Black tea with cream. I like the tea flavor. You can taste the slight bitterness of the tea with the creaminess at the same time. read more

I have been here twice and both times my drinks have been great. Ordering on the kiosk is easy and quick. Drinks can take a minute if there is a rush but for the most part its not too bad. The inside is clean and spacious. read more
