My boyfriend and I were craving Peruvian food today and decided to try this place out. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall spot that doesn't look so promising on the outside due to its location. However, looks can be deceiving because their food was delicious and service was great! Our waitress was nice, attentive and would offer us more complimentary sourdough bread with the aji sauce (green sauce) when she realized we finished it. Surprisingly the food came out pretty quickly, and every bite was better than I expected. I had the Lomo Saltado and my boyfriend had the lamb stew entree. I am only basing my review on the one dish that I ordered-Saltado de Vegetales. I really wanted to like this place. the owners seem very nice and the prices were reasonable. However, this dish was so salty as to render it competely unedible. The rice was also way too salty, so I would have to assume that all other dishes are over-salted. The portion was rather small and unlike all peruvian restaurants that I have been to, soup was not included. As i am looking for another peruvian place near my new workplace, I stopped by to get a take out.. I ordered Loma Saltado. The food tastes ok, in my opinion, better than the other two locations i had tried around this area. BUT they charged $11.99 for a decent size Loma Saltado. I asked for an extra little cup of green sauce and she charged me $.50. You must be kidding me.. No bread was provided, just one little cup of green sauce was in the togo pack and charged me 50 cents for another little cup of green sauce. No generosity for their customers.. so they probably won't get this customer back.. read more

I had a really great experience here. Both the service and food were excellent. I had the Lomo Saltado - the meat was very tender and juicy, and the dish itself was delicious. I also recommend trying the passion fruit juice with your meal. While I've had good Peruvian food before, what made this place stand out was the excellent customer service. This used to be Nory's restaurant #2 I believe, but Chicama is the newest Peruvian restaurant, and I must say I was impressed mostly by the "ceviche" its amazing, the best ceviche I ever tasted, thats how they do it in Peru!! staff is friendly, bathroom and service is good, if you dont know much about Peruvian food they will explain it to you, overall I believe everyone should try it, take a risk you will love it, peruvian seafood is best here, you will not be dissapointed, plus seasoning is best unlike other peruvian places. I'm from Peru , el cortijo era Peruvian(if you kown Pollo a la brasa you know what I'm talking about) this chicken could.get way better, fries are Good (need at least two orders TO FILLE UP) so make them bigger. In SoCal for vacation and trying places and this by far was the best. My wife is from Peru and is particularl about her food. We ate the Ceviche and the Jalea de Mariscos preceded by the empanada de pollo y carne. Both dishes included Cancha which most other resturaunts we tried did not. This place is A must! read more

I ordered take out from this little restaurant, had the Fish Ceviche. It was tasty and the green salsa they provide has good flavor. However, it was not spicy and I wish that it was because I love spicy food. I did still enjoy the dish. Surprising to me, the sweet potato slice that comes with the dish is really complementary to the sourness of the lime. I will likely be getting lunch from this place for again. read more

This is my first time trying Peruvian food, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, except the crazy explosion of flavor I'm used to eating with my own type of regional foods. I ordered the Pollo Saltado (don't eat beef) and my friend ordered the Ceviche with all the mixed goodies in it. Just like everyone says, the green sauce is good! reminds me of coconut chutney for any of you who eat Indian cuisine...as far as my food, it was tasty but it didn't have tons of flavor in it...Chicken was cooked well, but it seemed like there were way more fries than chicken in the dish. Rice was also delicious, perfect texture. The lack of substance in the meal is why I'm not giving it a 5 star rating. Friend's ceviche was delicious!! shrimp was cooked to perfection, good flavor, but a small portion, so unless you're not too hungry don't consider it a meal. The guy who served us was extremely nice, and could definitely tell we were first timers from the look of our confused faces. He seemed to know some of the other patrons and talked to them like they were buddies, which is always cool. The one glorious thing about this place is those alfajores cookies!!!! The guy helping us told us to order them when we asked for a recommendation, but we opted for the creme brulee/flan thing instead (forgot what its called.) Flavorful, great food, but unfortunately the service isn't the greatest . I went thee yesterday and order Ceviche, which it was very good! .While enjoying my food I asked the lady ( the owner I think) to perhaps to tune some latin flavor music, and for my astonishment the answer I got was less than positive. I am Peruvian and I enjoy to listen to latin music when I arrived to latin restaurants. She told me that was not possible and they do not embrace those tunes in her establishment and proceed to name all kind peruvian music. I felt discriminated, and I think I did not deserved that answer from her. The food is great, but this lady should get some costumer service skills. It is a pity I have to write such a bad review about a restaurant with my country's food. I worked in many restaurants in the past, and this kind of reply to a costumer was not needed. read more

I have been looking for a good Peruvian restaurant since my favorite restaurant (Inka Grill) is all the way in Costa Mesa! This place was excellent! Even had many of the same menu items. The garlic green beans are awesome. Don't judge the location, as it is in a run down strip mall and not inn the best area. Only recommendations I would have is for a friendlier welcome . When we arrived the place was empty and the 2 woman just looked at us when we walked in as though we were interrupting them. The decor could use a little touch up as well. It was also 90 degrees outside and the place didn't have air conditioning... the food however; awesome! read more

I am so happy that this place opened in my neighborhood. We moved from Torrance area and used to frequent El Pollo Inca which is a small restaurant chain. We have tried many Peruvian places and this is the first one who we feel stands up to our old favorite. The green sauce is perfect! Nice and spicy and they do not skimp like a lot of other restaurants do. They give you a nice big squirt bottle full! It goes on everything! Even the white bread. The chicken cilantro soup is delish!! The rotisserie chicken is spiced up nicely and goes well with the Peruvian beans and rice. Lomo Saltado is my family's favorite.
