Nice breakfast and lunch restaurant in the West Loop! My girlfriend and I carried out a few times during quarantine from Chicago Waffles. The food carried well and we always enjoyed our meals. Last week we dined in and so glad we finally came in. The service is so friendly and welcoming. Our food we ordered came out quickly and we were really impressed. My girlfriend enjoyed her chicken & waffles and I had a skillet which was hearty. For an easy and quick meal Chicago Waffle is a great option! read more

Hate to say it, but this place is nothing special. Bare minimum, basic breakfast. Not a ton of flavor unless you order and of the pastry type dishes, which, I guess hence the name, they specialize. Even still, it would be nice to see some of the other breakfast dishes done up a bit more - eggs from a carton, potatoes unseasoned, bland food, etc. If you want a quick bite and don't really care about the experience, come here. If you want an experience, I recommend you keep looking. read more

This is a great breakfast diner/brunch spot with typical fanfare of waffles, pancakes, egg scrambles, breakfast burritos, and sandwiches. Their roasted potatoes and waffles are great. There are countless configurations and flavors for their skillet items. They have mimosas and bottomless Lavazza diner coffee. So I'm terms of breakfast fare offered it was very standard and well done (like Wildberry or Yolk). What stood out about West Loop Waffles to us was the customer service was above and beyond. Drinks were rapidly refilled, any and every side we could need was brought to us, we were checked in on often. Most importantly, our 9 month old son was trying to cause a storm by throwing his toys onto the floor and at times the waitress would come by and pick up his toy for him and we'd apologize and she'd say "no problem" with a smile. It was totally unnecessary, above and beyond for a very busy Saturday morning service. read more

Food was good. Service was okay. Ambiance is casual. They have a wide variety on their menu. I think I just need to try more to see what I like. Their shakoushka is a bit bland and too watery. Their toast is really good. There are so many other brunch spots in West Loop that are comparatively better in my opinion but this spot is our go to without reservations. read more

Amazing food. The avocado toast was delicious. Tomatoes were fresh and very tasty. Excellent espresso.

If you're into the chicken and waffle craze then this is a must go. They have several savory and sweet options as well as traditional breakfast options. Our sever was really kind and patient. Typical cafe/breakfast spot decor and vibes. I'd go back for sure read more

The red velvet is good! I'm not crazy about the matcha but the liege makes up for it! Definitely get the flight because then you get to try a little bit of everything. I'm taking two stars off because the last time I ordered via UberEats, I received eggs instead of short ribs. This is an expensive mishap. Uber refused to refund me, even with photo evidence (so, I deleted the app). I'll refrain from posting the photo but maybe I'll dine-in next time, should I give this place another try. read more

I ordered the chicken with waffles. The batter for the waffles is supposed to have bacon in it. Unfortunately they are really skimpy on the bacon. I didn't see much bacon nor did I taste any. There were three chicken nuggets on top of the waffle. They were nice sized portions. They were cooked perfectly and were juicy, however they did lack flavoring. The chicken was very bland. The plate comes with regular syrup and spicy syrup. I can't comment on spicy syrup because I didn't try it since I am not crazy about spicy food. In order to get flavoring on my chicken and waffles I drowned my food in syrup. Oh and the "more" bacon offered on your waffles is only one small strip. The coffee is supposed to be Intelligentsia. I tried it but I don't think it was as strong as it should have been. read more

We've been here a few times, and had generally good experiences prior. But the last time will be our last. The service was just execrable from start to finish. They couldn't even be bothered to provide everyone their own menu. Our server was more concerned with twiddling silverware in front of the takeout counter than checking on her patrons or making sure they received what they ordered. Half our orders were wrong, and when informed of that the responses were "well...you started eating it" (direct quote) for one and "the kitchen already put away that ingredient" (paraphrase for brevity) for the other. They claim to offer what I consider some of the best coffee in the world, Julius Meinl from Vienna - but from what I tasted it may as well have been expired dollar store brand served in a pretty Meinl "tasse." Perhaps the coffee was so old and stale because nobody ever came around to see if patrons wanted refills (or more water). To cap the experience, the server threw a tantrum at me before we left, belting out lines such as "I don't need this job" and repeatedly sarcastically screeching "have a great day" or something to that effect at my children and me as we left. Overall the experience was so bad that I emailed them, something I have never done to complain about a restaurant before. Quite a while later I received a response signed by the "management team" that was half gaslighting and half patronizing. EDIT: Well this is really something! In Chicago Waffles' reply to me, "Lemke T." blatantly lies about remaking my wife's incorrect entree. Here it was allegedly remade in "5 minutes." Yet in Chicago Waffles' email reply to me, they wrote, "Our records indicate that our server recognized the mistakes and offered to remake your food. We understand that you might have chosen not to proceed with the remakes." While that is not accurate, I guess one could have inferred "but if you really insist we will get you what you actually ordered" from the server's complaint that the incorrect entry had a bite taken out of it. Also, yes just like lying in Yelp review replies it's ALSO unethical (at least) to add junk fees to the bill without prior disclosure. However, our primary issues this visit, highlighted in this review my and original email to them were the abysmal service, inaccurate order fulfillment, and terrible allegedly Meinl coffee. The undisclosed junk fee thing was just the rancid cherry on top. read more

The smoked salmon itself is a very salty, but with the salad is ok. The waffle is not crispy, the pistachios on the top of the waffle is not fresh. The waffle on the take out item chicken with waffle is no good when I got home. The chicken portion is small, cut down half than before. The service is good , but I am disappointed with the food. read more

The food was decent, pretty expensive for what it was. The portions were large. Standard breakfast food. The service was very slow, it took us a long time to get seated, place our orders, get our food, and get our check. Pretty traditional tables and chairs, nothing special on the ambiance but it was good. read more

Ordered ahead for takeout and it was ready by the time I got there. They have a pretty wide selection of breakfast menu items. It'll require you to come back to try what else they have to offer. I appreciate that they cater to an array of different palates. They have something savory, something sweet, something meaty, and even something more healthy too. I would love to enjoy the outdoor patio next time I come here. It was quiet and sunny. It's a nice place to enjoy your breakfast/brunch on a lazy Sunday. Employees were friendly and quick to respond to the customers needs. I ordered their chilaquiles because I don't often see this offered with meat. It pulled pork was soft and juicy. The only thing that was lacking was that there were bits here and there that were bland. That's an easy fix though. I look forward to checking this place out again but dine there this time. read more

This place is really good. Trust me. When we sat down for a brunch, we were impressed by the length of the menu. They have everything you could ask for and more. So good. The waitress was so sweet. She ran us through some of the house favorites and each of them sounded better than the one before. Known for skillets, which looked really good. Ended up with an omelette and could barely eat all the food. Portions are huge! Another benefit of this place. Sit outside and enjoy. read more

It was quite busy and loud, maybe since it was St.Patrick's weekend. Luckily since I made reservations we got seated a bit quicker. We waited for about 15 almost 20 minutes for the lady to take our order in which really isn't ideal but again, busy weekend so understandable. I got the berry waffles with a side of sausage link and my goodness were they absolutely delicious. I think even the waffles by themselves without the fancy stuff would be delicious too. This place is pricey though. For waffles, sausage, French toast, eggs, and two coffees it came to a total of over $50. I would come here again just not every so often read more

Food: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Extremely slow service... took our food nearly 50 minutes to come out. Chicken and Bacon Waffles: Very expensive for what it is. $13 for a waffle and maybe half a chicken breast worth of meat and two slices of bacon. Chicken breast was average, sort of crispy. Bacon was all right. Waffle was good. Left me feeling hungry, though... Green Tea Waffle: Did not taste like green tea at all. The inside of this waffle was bright neon green. The hue of green was reminiscent of those brightly colored cleaning products. This menu item is definitely a sham. Also, it's literally half a waffle for $6. read more

I stopped here for brunch because I was hungry and I was glad to find this spot. I had the corned beef hash. I think the potatoes and the meat were a bit too salty for my taste. I will keep this short and sweet. The menu is awesome. It is, in fact, so awesome it is difficult to figure out what you are going to settle on. Oh, and they have gluten-free pancakes and waffles. I'll say that a bit louder for the people in the back. THEY HAVE GLUTEN-FREE PANCAKES AND WAFFLES!!!! And, they're delicious! The portions are huge. I ordered a cheese, mushroom, and bacon omelet. It came with a side of fried red potatoes and pancakes. I don't know how many eggs were put in my omelet, but I promise you it wasn't two. I couldn't finish the danged thing. When I was getting close to being full, I had to choose between finishing the eggs and finishing the pancakes. Since I never get pancakes, I went for that. My wife had the same issue. The food was incredibly delicious, and for Chicago, the prices were extremely fair. The staff was amazingly friendly and attentive. read more

Delightful dog friendly patio to enjoy your breakfast. I've been here 6 times this summer and tried just about every waffle they have and my recommendation is the blueberry cheesecake. After having a horrible experience trying to get a table at Eleven City Diner, we walked around the block to Chicago Waffle and were able to get a table for our party of 13 within 15 minutes of arriving. We were able to stay as a group with having enough room to eat and move around without being smooshed. Now for the food, they have an amazing selection with lots of gluten free and vegetarian options! They were also celiac friendly and were very accommodating. The food was absolutely amazing and our waitress was so friendly and fast! They had our entire party in and out within an hour and a half. They coffee was fabulous and so were the cocktails! ***HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT*** There's nothing I love more than a corner spot greasy spoon type diner, but Waffles was a giant miss on all marks... also a potential health violation?? NOTE: I ordered delivery, and did my best to tailor my order to delivery-conducive choices (no poached eggs). What I ordered: - half liege waffle Overcooked, SUPER TOUGH, flavorless, and broken upon arrival - raisin challah french toast One piece was not soaked in egg mixture but was cooked, so it ended up being super crunchy/dry. The other was soaked in egg mixture and legitimately fried on ONE SIDE ONLY (see picture). I wasn't expecting the best french toast, but I do expect it to be cooked. Uncooked eggs can carry bacteria and disease. Not what I'm looking for in a breakfast order - corned beef hash From a can. Warm but not crispy anywhere... which, if you've ever had canned corned beef hash, is big no no. - bacon Limp, rubbery, but otherwise your normal diner bacon. Honestly, I'm pissed. It was $30 worth of food, and the only thing I could eat was the bacon, which I microwaved to be crispier. Avoid this place if you're looking for brunch, especially delivery. read more

I have lived across the street from Waffles for four years, and unfortunately every experience here is terrible. The most recent incident involved ordering food online, they gave me the incorrect order, I brought it back, and they just ignored me when I asked for my food. Ultimately they said they could remake the food and thought I should wait alone while they did this for 20 minutes. Would not give me a refund or an apology. Also the food is BAD. If you want to spend $18 on eggs and potatoes go literally to any other overpriced place in this neighborhood. I hope Waffles closes and a real restaurant run by people with integrity takes over. read more

Updating my review to a single star due to my encounter with a Waffles waitress today. This review update will be stryctly on custy service and not the food. Even though the food was terrible the first time, they had just opened so I was open to coming back and giving them a go since I live in the neighborhood. After today, nope. I grabbed a smoothie bowl at my lunch from a neighboring spot, Fruvé. I wanted to sit my six month pregnant self down outside, and there was no one AT ALL sitting in the Chicago Waffle outside seating area so I didn't think this would be an issue. Apparently it was an issue, and a waitress came out with a fake smile asking if I wanted a menu. No, I sure didn't. I'd been sitting there about 10 minutes already, so I knew they didn't think I wanted anything. She proceeded to tell me that if I wasn't dining there I couldn't sit there, and that she was sorry. I was annoyed by this because 1, nobody was sitting out there, 2 it was hot af out, and 3, I wasn't offered the option to move if someone needed the seating. I understand someone taking a paying customers seat, however, there was NO ONE OUT THERE. Lol. Like, not a single soul. Straight crickets folks. I did get myself up and walked over to Cone where I was able to comfortably sit my pregnant self in the shade while eating my smoothie bowl with zero issue. read more

The coffee latte is good. Instead of the popular waffles, I was too adventurous to get the green tea waffles. Tried the short rib skillet. It was not good. Mushrooms were undercooked and the dish was underseasoned. This is the first time throughout my dining history that the waitress did not refill my coffee. Water yes, coffee no. Just the one $3.99 cup of coffee. I won't ruled them out yet. The looks better than it taste. No seasoning what do ever and the eggs were swimming in butter. I'd come back if it were the last restaurant on earth, so it's eatable, just not worth it. I pass this place every time I'm in the city & finally decided to try it the other day. From the outside, it looks like your classic mom & pop breakfast place, but the inside is very lively and decorated nicely. We had their corned beef hash, the waffle flight and pesto sandwich. I'd wanted to try all of the waffle flavors, so I'm so glad they had a flight option. Each flavor is made into a different quarter and topped with their respective toppings. It was all so yummy! Our waiter was also super friendly and would check-in regularly to make sure everything was alright. Definitely would come back again for the convenience and the food. read more

Very tasty and fresh. Vast menu with many options. We went twice while we were in Chicago

I ordered the half (pork sausage, egg, wheat toast, with berry pancakes, no caramel/chocolate sauce.) Perfect amount of food to try their pancakes but not fully commit to a sweet breakfast. The pork sausage was tasty but perhaps a tad over cooked. The mimosa was perfect. Our server was attentive and very helpful. Would definitely go back for more! read more
