I got finished working with Ziggy on my supply order and he was a big help in getting me the right items for my print job. I felt he went out of his way to help me out, pouring a quart of white plastisol and cutting me a squeegee to perfection in no time. Thanks Ziggy. And I know their prices are above average for burning and selling screens, but take it from me, going on my 10 years of being in the Screen Printing Industry. Making those screens are not easy and you want to get it right the first time, as oppose to having to start all over because you tried to do it yourself and forgot registration on a 4-color process. THE PHOTO TO CANVAS EXPERTS! I was searching high and low for a place to print a digital photo on a large 5 foot canvas and was thrilled to find CSS. Prices online were outrageous and most websites were assembly line operations that would not provide any expertise or consultation. Not so with CSS. Prices here are very reasonable and Bill took great care of me and my artwork. They found the best size for my print, printed it out on canvas in vibrant colors, stretched it, and mounted it on a wooden frame. It looks so good I don't even need to frame it. This place is great! I came here to get my silkscreening supplies for a class I took recently and I cannot stress how helpful and friendly the staff was! They have everything you need here--from inks and squeegees to built to order screens (they made mine while I waited--it took like 5 minutes). I suggets calling before you just stop in, since it's not really a typical "store", but don't let that throw you off. My heroes-- seriously. We are silk screening our wedding invitations, and much to my dismay a typo creeped onto one of the screens. After some research, my heart dropped into my stomach as I realized that the designer sent the wrong file. I contacted Bill and Aaron, and not only were they able to get the screen redone very quickly, they also gave us an incredible deal on getting a new screen. Can I reiterate that in no way was this their fault-- they just wanted to take care of a panicky bride?!?! BUT WAIT... THERE'S MORE! Fast forward to last Friday. In my craziness of running errands before I went to work, I realized that i FORGOT to pick up the screen. In a panic, I call my fiance who hopped in a cab and rushed over. I worked for a company in the north suburbs who uses Chicago Silk Screen to have extremely large screens made and burned. I saw the quality of the screens and wanted to purchase some for my own projects. I called in and talked to the staff (very knowledgeable) and asked if they were open on weekends. Being in the suburbs 8-5, there was no way I could get to them during normal business hours to pick up the screens I ordered. The owner offered to drop them off at my work since he lived nearby. This was such a huge gesture to me. Because of something that took him a few minutes out of his way, I will continue to purchase all my screens/materials from them. I am a frequent printer at Spudnik Press, and always recommend them to anyone interested in screen-printing. read more

Pleasant and helpful staff. Quick turnaround. Fair prices. Update: they stand behind their products -- a large screen I'm printing on contact on very thin silk and cotton warped, which wasn't their fault -- you can't always tell if kiln-dried hardwood isn't as stable as you hoped. Alan is making it right. More: He's also just a really nice guy with ideas about how to tackle all kinds of projects and he knows everybody. It's a pleasure to shoot the shit and learn from him. I don't like Nazdar water based products, which is all they've got, but the extremely high quality films and durable shots are great and they're extremely close to my workshop. I'll buy aluminum frames online because nobody can compete with prices from huge volume outfits, but I'm making these guys my go-to for stretching, reclaiming, and burning. read more

Used Chicago silk screen to outsource various screens i needed done for my biz. They are really helpful and will answer any questions and makes recommendations to better my biz. Once tried to order 3 screens told me i can do it in 2.....thats why i dont mind what they charge. Your not just paying for supplies but also for the knowledge they have from years of experience.... U either pay to learn by messing up or u oay someine to help teach u, which is why they are worth every penny read more

I had heard good things about this company but was very disappointed recently. I am a printmaking student and went to buy silk screening emulsion and was not given good advise. I take full responsibility for my naivety thinking that there was only one kind of water base emulsion. I made it clear that I was a student and was not experienced in silk screening, unfortunately the salesman didn't let me know there were many choices and recommend I check with the school. Of course when I asked for a refund or store credit he refused. Students BEWARE!!!!! MAKE sure you have all your info written down because they're just trying to make a sale!!!!! read more
