Chicago Pit Stop BBQ - Disappointing Customer Service I have been a customer of Chicago Pit Stop BBQ on Halsted for a couple of years and have never had an issue until now. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled has left me extremely disappointed. On Sunday, September 6, I purchased approximately $75 worth of food. The restaurant was packed because of Labor Day weekend, and I waited patiently for about an hour for my order. I completely understood that they were busy and never complained about the wait. When I got home, I discovered that my rib tips had absolutely NO barbecue sauce on them. The order had already been packaged and placed in a bag along with two other dinners. After being a customer for years, it never crossed my mind that I needed to open every container at the window and inspect my food before leaving to make sure barbecue sauce was actually on my barbecue. Because I am normally only in Chicago on Sundays, I froze the meat. My plan was simple: when I returned to Chicago the following Sunday, I would stop by the restaurant, explain what happened, get the barbecue sauce that was missing from my order, and eat my rib tips that day with the sauce added. I even brought my receipt with me so there would be no question that I had purchased the food. Today, I returned and asked to speak with a supervisor. I calmly explained exactly what had happened. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, I was told that it was MY responsibility to check my food before leaving the window. I explained that the food was already packaged in a bag with two other dinners. I wasn't going to stand at the window opening every container and checking whether barbecue sauce was on the meat. I wasn't asking for a refund. I wasn't asking them to remake $75 worth of food. I wasn't asking for another free meal. I simply wanted barbecue sauce for the rib tips that were sitting in my freezer waiting for me at home. The supervisor refused to provide me with any sauce. I then asked if I could BUY the sauce and was told NO--that I would have to purchase an entire meal just to get barbecue sauce. That made absolutely no sense to me. Why would I purchase another entire meal when I already have $75 worth of food at home that I purchased from your restaurant? The whole reason I froze the meat was so I could come back, get the missing sauce, and eat the food I had already paid for. I became extremely upset, but I refused to stoop to the level of arguing or becoming disrespectful. I left and decided that I would address the situation through a review instead. Mistakes happen. I understand that. The restaurant was extremely busy that Sunday, and forgetting the sauce could have been easily corrected. What I cannot understand is the way a longtime customer was treated after returning with a receipt and politely asking the restaurant to correct such a small mistake. This situation could have been resolved with a container of barbecue sauce. Instead, I was blamed for not inspecting packaged food before leaving, refused the missing sauce, and then told I couldn't even PAY for sauce unless I purchased another meal. Saw a review on tik tok and wanted to try the turkey tips. Ordered online and the wait was about 45 minutes. My order was ready exactly at pick up time. I like how the turkey tips are sliced and not cut in blocks. The meat was seasoned very nicely and the barbeque sauce is delicious. However the meat was very tough and sort of hard to chew. The worst experience I ever had in a restaurant!!! On Sunday, March 22, 2026, I placed an online order for a large rib tip at 11:30 am, paying online, and arrived two hours later at 1:30 pm to pick it up and that's when the nightmare begin (aka unnecessary BS!) I went up and asked the lady at the window about my order that I placed two hours before arriving and she was immediately rude, telling me, "you couldn't have done that," as if I didn't know when I placed my order. She then yelled at me to get in line. I was taken aback but I got in the long line and waited to get back to the window. She then told me, with a nasty attitude, I needed my ID, which she could have told me the first time she talked to me. I left my ID in my car, so I walked back to my car to get it, then I had to get back in line all over again. Once I finally made it to the front of the line again, she asked for the card I used to pay online. At this point I was fed up with this ridiculous run around by someone who was being extremely unprofessional and just rude. I had already ordered and paid for my food online, and stood in a long line multiple times. I told her I didn't have the card with me and then she had the nerve to say well I won't be getting my food. That didn't make any sense, because I had my ID that matched the name on my order and on my card, so I told her I needed my food. The other customers in the restaurant started to feel my plight because they recognized her unnecessary actions, and they even tried to help resolve the situation, pleading with the lady to just give me my food. Everyone in the restaurant was in disbelief that she was causing such a hassle, even after I presented my ID. She then walked away with my ID for approximately 20 minutes, for food I ordered two hours prior, and she didn't communicate anything with me about the hold up. Eventually, she brung my food, but I left out of the restaurant with a headache and my heart beating fast, because she was accosting me as if she wasn't going to give me food that I already paid for. This was hands down the worst restaurant experience I've ever had, and to make matters worse, the food wasn't even good. The rib tips I ordered were dry and tough, and the bbq sauce was watered down. While the taste was very good, the task of chewing this tough meat made the experience HORRIBLE! My jaws are STILL soar! It's like when you put too much bubble gum in your mouth and your jaws are aching from trying to chew! The coleslaw is terrible as well! The flavor is good. The sauce is very good. I'm a rib connoisseur and this place makes great bbq ribs! I read the last few reviews and it appears people love the food but not the service. It was a Monday night around 6:30 pm and I ordered 2 full slab rib dinners and I received my order in about 20 minutes. You can get your sauce hot or mild on your ribs or on the side. The ribs were off the chain full of flavor, tender and seasoned perfectly. $52.00 bucks for two full slab rib orders. It's a small strictly take out establishment. There is parking on the street or right next door adjacent to the barbershop. This place is worthy of my money and a return visit. read more

Y'all, I went to this location for the first time Saturday. I have heard some bad things about it. I've been bypassing it for a few years now because my barber is right next door. I normally go to the location in Chi Hgts or Riverdale. THIS location had me IN and OUT!!!! I couldn't believe it. The lady at the register told me 15 minute wait time and I wasn't even standing there 6 or 7 minutes before they were calling my order. I get home, food was piping hot and sooooo good!!!! Their food is always good at the other locations I go to, but this one really shocked me. It was the quickest I had ever received my food from any of their locations. When I was a little girl on Friday night my dad would bring home take-out. My favorite was ribs tips and fries from Leon's. I decided to check out CPS after a long work week. I placed my order online at 2:30 p.m. and received the confirmation notice that my order would be ready by 3:30 p.m. I immediately thought that on a Friday afternoon the food I was getting would be fresh. We arrived about 3:20 p.m. (hoping it might be ready) and received the food about 3:30 p.m. I ordered the wings/tips meal and german chocolate cake. It smelled really good. The food: The wings were seasoned and cooked well. The entire plate was well sauced but the tips were tough. I could taste/smell the smoke but I could not tell if they got a bad batch of meat, the food was over cooked, or old. I've been to a ton of Chicago Bbq houses, however I've never purchased tuff ribs before I visited this place. I ordered two half slabs, chicken wings, shrimp and turkey tips. Everything was tasty and priced right except the ribs moreover they were not tender at all. I expect tuff rib tips from time to time but large and small ends are supposed to fall off the bone.
