First time here at this location. We placed an online order for pickup. The online ordering was a little tricky as they didn't show all the items available. I guess they ran out of turkey links because I had to order pork instead. Also was able to order two turkey tips and wings combos. Once we checked in our order wasn't ready by the pick up time give and had to wait another 10-15 minutes. They were pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon but they still tried to remain friendly and welcoming. The food was pretty good once we got our orders. After getting an oil change today The guy at Firestone said you got to try Wilma's barbecue. Able to 10-minute drive so I did it, and I was not disappointed. Those rib tips... On point like Phife. Tender with very flavorful barbecue sauce. There is a real big difference between barbecue on a grill and barbecue done any other way and this was on the grill and perfect. I had some wings that were okay, and though they weren't as great as a spot named Kim's Wings in Cleveland, they were good. But the rib tips were so amazing I wanted to go back after I got back to the hotel to smash my meal. The staff was really nice and I ran into an army vet while I waited on my meal to get done and we had a great conversation. I would highly recommend this place. I have been supporting Wilma's since the start of their first location. The food at the dolton location has become hit or miss. However, in my experience there have been mostly hits and that is why I have continued to support. Today I went on Uber eats to place and order for tips & chicken combo and to add bbq sauce on the wings it is an additional $4.00 charge. To have it on the side is an additional $5.00. Come on Wilma's, you are a bbq establishment and in my personal opinion really shouldn't be charging anything for bbq on a meal unless the consumer wants extra. Just enjoyed a delicious meal from Wilma's Famous in Dolton. I had the Wednesday special large order of Rib Tips at small order price. Delicious!!! My son got the special and 3 wings with fries, they were fresh and delicious too. Other son and his family got wings catfish shrimp Mac and cheese and greens. There was a wait for about 30 minutes for the 4 of us to receive all our meals, which was well worth it. Mac & Cheese and Greens were delicious as well. We all also got the Smoothies yummy as well. In all everything was delicious. We couldn't wait for the ride home so we camped out in the parking lot and left with plenty of leftovers. Unfortunately I will not be returning. Pros: The young lady at the register was pleasant. The turkey tips I ordered were tender. Cons: There was a 45 minute wait time for a large turkey tip/turkey link special with a large side of bbq french fries. Your order can not be called in. When you try to order over the phone, it sends you to a text link option. Unfortunately I never received the text and had to order in person. They got my order wrong (3) three times! The first time they rung me up for a completely different order. Upon me notifying them, it was adjusted and I paid the price difference. When I picked up my order I immediately noticed they forgot the side order of bbq fries. I had to wait another 10 minutes to receive those. After leaving the establishment and opening the bbq container, I realized they had forgotten the links. I had to return to the restaurant to receive those. They did accommodate that order by making it a small turkey link with fries. That took another 5 minutes. Although the turkey tips were tender, the links tasted old, dry and lacked flavor. The bbq fries were saturated in bbq sauce. If you are not a fan of that I suggest you ask for easy sauce. The sauce is mild and very sweet. read more

Ordered a couple of ribtip dinners. The tips were just kinda ok, because they cut them up toooooo thin. I ordered ribtips, not rib-chips, or little chickleets! Normally the tips are a decent size, cause if they're giving you these little chip things, they're dry and boney. Hopefully Wilma is not trying to digress like some of these other BBQ spots and trying to make you think you're getting a lot, but you're just over cutting the tips. I would like to complement Wilma's Barbecue on their great customer service and management skills . Labor Day we decided to go to Lem's Barbecue to see what the big deal with the long lines were. We waited in line for two hours, which was the worst experience , There were people coming to the front of the line offering to pay for other customers food if they will get theirs, which made the rest of the customers have to wait longer And they only let five people in at a time. There's no one at the counter taking orders. You have to yell your order out to one guy preparing the orders and the cashier only takes payments. She does not take orders. The barbecue was good, but not worth the wait . We came to the conclusion that the lines at Lem's Barbecue are long not because the food is so good. It's because they are extremely slow. I cannot believe the way they treat our people , and we settle for poor Customer Service to have customers waiting in line in the heat or the cold, knowing they are making good money where they can build an outdoor protection from the sun and the cold . Also, after only being open two hours, they ran out of ribs so people behind us had to wait for more to get done. The ribs was sliced thin just the way I like it. Back in the day i would always ask other restaurants to cut up my rib tips thin, but here you don't have to ask cause it's the given. I'm from the South Side, and there are only two barbecue spots I've always trusted: I-57 and Lem's. Wilma's is right up there competing and doing an excellent job. The portions are generous--something you really appreciate in a time of inflation and shrinkflation. They make sure you get more than enough. Well.. as for me, I won't back. I placed my order for my mom, it's her birthday and she loves Wilama's. The lady upfront bagging the orders is consistently wipping sweat from her face, all over. With that same hand she's bagging food and passing people their orders. That's transferring her sweat. I spoke with the lady about washing her hands and then dealing with people orders (bagging / handing orders out). She didn't see an issue with wiping sweat from her face and handing orders. Ooookay. That's so unsanitary. I spoke with the manager, Hailey, I explained to her the issue,. She replied, she's not dealing with the food personally. My question is: how not when she's wiping sweat from her face with a paper towel, balding the paper towel up in her hand, consistently doing the same thing, grabbing food orders, pouring sauce on it, bagging it, and that's not dealing with food. She's transferring her sweat onto the things she's touching. That is unsanitary. How is that okay? My mom can go ask she wants but it won't happen through me. My mom is older and home a lot with her husband who's bedridden. I shouldn't had to refund an order due to the lack of understanding from these AFRICAN AMERICAN women. First time visiting Wilma's in Dolton ILL. Upon entering we were greeted by a welcoming security officer and l noticed several door dash and Uber orders and a line of customers. This was definitely a good choice. I ordered a combination link, tip, wing. My sister had the link, tip combo. The cashier was cute, pleasant, not rushed. The Dolton location doesn't have a traditional dine inn , however, there were a couple of tables and chairs near the window if you want a quick bite. The cooks, and other workers were in constant motion our entire stay, I certainly hope they're paid accordingly. My food was very good, the wings and links are some of the best I've had in the city , the tips were good, tender, chopped small with an incredible mild sauce. The links are spicy with great flavors and the wings can be enjoyed with or without sauce, very very tasty. Wilma's also have slushies which gave me brain freeze. I'll definitely be back to Dolton and will try the south loop location for the shrimp, catfish, perch, turkey tips etc. very good choice read more

I eat here frequently, but my most recent experience on Sunday, June 1, was the worst experience I've ever had with this establishment. I ordered a ton of food from the restaurant for delivery, excited to share it with close family friends who never had it. Unfortunately, it was a horrible experience for them, and you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Starting with the taste of the food, the rib tips we ordered were bony and tough! Some pieces were literally sauce and bone, and the ones that weren't had very little meat that was extremely tough. Instead of tender rib tips with meat we could actually eat, it's like we were thrown the scraps that were just left around the kitchen. My friends who I ordered the food for didn't even enjoy them, and they have no interest in eating food from the restaurant again. The packaging was also a disaster. The food was just thrown into the containers and the tops wouldn't even close. The restaurant obviously needs bigger containers because the food was falling out of the current ones that are too small. This led to sauce and grease being all over the bag and everything else before we could even get our hands on the food. Simply put, this was an unacceptable experience from a restaurant, especially for the amount of money I paid for this food. I'm used to a higher standard from this establishment but this experience was not up to par with my expectations. Because of the poor service, Wilma's missed out on potential new customers, and likely lost another. For other potential customers, be aware and voice your concerns if you have any issues, because if we let them keep getting away with it, they will continue to do so. read more

You can't speak to anyone if you call but no notice or anything they turn off online orders & you can't call in so you go inside and stand in lobby for an hour to get an order. The more professional approach would have been to put a notice in app about no more app orders or the long wait times.
