Marcus did a fantastic job providing dj services at an outdoor charity event last week, held at Fuel & Creme in Villa Park! Marcus kept the crowd totally upbeat and engaged for the whole 3-hour event!! He played great tunes and provided so much support to the team trying to encourage silent auction bidding and raffle sales. He even encouraged folks walking by the event to buy a ticket to join the party, and people did!!!! Marcus is a really excellent dj and the event went so well thanks in part to his enthusiasm and professionalism. I'd totally hire him should I get the chance to throw a party!! read more

I have to tell you about our experiences. We have used Marcus for 2 previous Grad parties and he did a good job. However, the last one wasn't so good. We booked him about 6 months before the event and paid him 50% of the job, $300. We got an email telling us to upload email and to pay the other 300. The email gave us venmo and zelle. I tried to pay both and it wouldn't accept the payment...thankfully. I tried to email, call cell, call 312 number and even emailed the general email. NOTHING. Crickets. Unfortunately, we are one of many that got screwed by Marcus Windsor. I booked his services in January 24 for a June 24 Grad Party and paid the $Downpayment. Three weeks before the event, got an email notice that the balance was due. Tried to pay via venmo as instructed--account closed? called many times, emailed many times....finally, started reading reviews to see that he's collecting downpayment and running business as usual to pay his medical bills and not showing up to deliver his services. I have shot weddings for over 20 years with upwards of more than 1000, and I can say with out a shadow of doubt that Marcus is by far the best Dj I have ever worked with. Not only do couples love him, he has more integrity and attention to details than anyone I have ever seen. A genuinely good man! He will move heaven and earth to make sure the crowd is engaged and excited about the music. He knows the crowd and always has them up dancing up a storm. I have worked with DJs that don't have these instincts and their dance floors sit empty, but an empty dance is not what you will ever find when Marcus is in the house! 0 STARS... I wish I would have researched Marcus more before booking because it looks like my husband and I are just another client he left without refunding our $1200. Our wedding coordinator at the venue recommended him so we decided to hire him. Unfortunately, the night before our wedding he had a medical emergency and could not show up. An hour before our ceremony, our families were scrambling to figure out where he was and after trying every phone #, social media message, etc. we realized we had to try to find a completely new dj. A week after our wedding, Marcus finally called us and told us what happened. He eventually said he would need to do a sort of payment plan and could start paying us back after a gig in February. We spoke before the holidays to check in and he said he had to cancel Christmas for his family because he had so many medical bills and debts. We called again mid-February and asked for an update since we had seen on social media that he purchased expensive gifts, said he was going to school, was tagged in a video being at a bar a week after our wedding, and threw a party or event of some sort when he said he was too sick to work or go anywhere. It was very confusing and seemed to be a very different version of the person we had been talking to on the phone. He started becoming very rude on the phone-- condescending and even yelling at times. I wrote a review on a different site saying how we still haven't received money after 3 months. We had been very patient and understanding this whole time. He ended up saying he would pay us if we took down the review. I told him that it shouldn't matter, but said I would take down the review in order to be paid. He said he was going to pay $100. After everything we were put through, I told him I couldn't accept only $100. He started talking about his health and financial troubles again and I told him I'm trying to get this settled before we have to file a case against him and his business. He then hung up and blocked my number. Regardless of how good of a dj he might be (we unfortunately will never know) it is not worth the risk in my opinion. We booked Marcus last year for our July 18, 2020 wedding but pandemic hit and we needed to postponed up to this year of August 21, 2021. He was very understanding of the situation but very sad for what had happened to his industry too. Pandemic crippled all the industries especially the entertainment industry, but despite of that MARCUS still managed to GAVE us THE BEST PARTY EVER last Saturday!!! I received a Lot of compliments about our DJ! How nice he was, how organized he was, and how he was present and has presence of mind during an emotional like this. Marcus is great and He's really the Master DJ! He knows when to set up the mood and able to get everyone in the dance floor and have fun! He's a genuinely good person. He helped us to find some decorations for our reception (because the decorator Ive found online that we hired and we paid wasn't replyng anymore!) and he found us a very talented ice sculptor. I wished I coordinated everything with Marcus so I didn't had to worry about other things anymore about the wedding . We Trust him 100%. If you're looking for a DJ that would give you the party that you want, you want to get this man. He's very easy to talk to, replies right away and he (always) answered my calls regardless of the time we've called him, he has the system that was easy to navigate to organize all the songs you wanted to play on your event, his sound systems was good. My event had a "Travel Around the World" theme in which I asked for him to play music that would relate to each country in which matched the cuisine my guests would be enjoying throughout the evening. Not only did he play an assortment of music to our liking and taste, he had dance lights that helped to light up the dance floor, he was helpful before and throughout the wedding, and he caught all the pictures the photographer missed. We only had one photographer, so Marcus took it upon himself to take over 700 pictures (all of which he had posted to FB the next morning) including the super special moment of me getting ready to walk down the aisle with my dad. Marcus was always available to talk beforehand if I needed too and insisted we talked everything through about a week prior. He is informed whenever you login to his website, and he will reach out just in case you have any questions. He was also great at stepping into action and giving direction when needed. i had a very similar issue to a previous reviewer. Marcus decided last minute (4 pm which was basically his set up time) he was no longer going to dj our wedding. he sent a replacement that had no clue what we wanted and had next to no music in the genre most of our songs came from (country). The replacement dj couldn't keep anyone on the dance floor and was not playing songs people requested. What bothers me more is that Marcus has not spoken to me about any of this. he tried to call me once right before my wedding. as i was the bride i was a little busy at the time. I picked Marcus as my dj as I've seen him a few times before. So if you're looking for (and paying for) all Marcus has to offer just know you have a pretty good chance of getting a subpar replacement that doesn't have any of the songs you spent so much time picking out. read more

We got married about 2 weeks ago and our wedding was an absolute blast! Marcus helped us so much on the day and the days leading up to the wedding. He was very professional, but also brought a good level of fun to the event. With his help the day went incredibly smooth. Since my wife and I live in LA we didn't have time to get to Chicago and meet up with him, but he was great on the phone he made sure everything went off with out a hitch. His website is super easy to use and we were able to make a pretty good size list of what we did and didnt want to play. The song we chose for our first dance was way too long and Marcus was able to cut it down in a way that no one would have ever noticed, but we didn't have to awkwardly waddle around for 5 min on the dance floor. We had the help of our family to help out for some of the earlier things (centerpieces, escort table, etc) I was starting to freak out because I didn't know how things will go after our bridal party and us were introduced. Marcus was incredible!!! The DJ was one of the most challenging vendors to choose for our wedding, knowing we had very diverse music preferences in our group and knowing the DJ is the heartbeat of the party. We were referred to Marcus from a coworker who used him at their wedding and they said the dance floor was packed all night. The same was true for our wedding. Marcus allows you to create a play and do not play list, which we had some suggestions in both those categories. After meeting with Marcus, my bride and I saw how much he really cares about our night being a huge success, and gained full trust in him. Our philosophy was to let Marcus feel the room and play what got the crowd going, and he did not disappoint. We had everybody out there dancing, from our elderly Aunts and Uncles to college students. He did so much more than just play music... he filled the room with energy and set the tone of the entire evening, he was our time keeper, and he also played attorney as he advised us to ask the venue to extend our time (and open bar) due to their delay in getting the food out, which they did! I cannot say enough good things about Marcus. Fantastic! Marcus was fantastic! He was the contact person, coordinator and basically in charge of all things music on the day of my sister's wedding. I was the contact person, coordinator and basically person in charge of all things wedding for my sister's wedding, so I recognize greatness when I see it. Marcus and I only had some brief interactions before the wedding day. Surprisingly, Chicago Mobile DJ's were the chosen ones and it happened to be the one appointment that I couldn't make it to. I'm so glad that Catherine and Steve chose them! Marcus was professional in his e-mails. He was helpful with ideas during the planning phase and even at the very end when on the fly decisions needed to be made, he knew what the bride and groom wanted and made it happen. There was a hiccup. But I don't know who it belongs to, so I can only mention it and suggest that you keep this in mind when planning and coordinating even though this may not have been Chicago Mobile DJ's doing. The photographer was relying on the DJ to keep him aware of exactly when everything was going to happen. The first dance took place before dinner. We learned at the end of dinner that the photographer didn't know that was going to happen and the special photography equipment for that occasion wasn't ready to go because he didn't know that was happening then. Long story short...they basically had to re-do their first dance. They chose another song and it was fine, but it just added to the lag time before guests could dance. Again, not sure where the breakdown was and it may not have been Marcus at all, but it's a good thing to think about when coordinating your own wedding or special event. Marcus kept the party going right up until the very end. He was personable and funny without being cocky or condescending. I liked him a lot. Marcus dj'd our wedding in June and we're really glad he did. Talking with him ahead of the wedding put me at ease, I knew we were in good hands. Marcus asks questions ahead of time so he knows your musical tastes. He also has an online system where you can lay everything out and choose songs- it was really easy to use and so helpful! The day of our wedding, Marcus helped keep us on schedule throughout the night, letting us know when it was time to cut the cake, give the speeches, toss the bouquet, etc. The dance floor was hopping all night long. Absolute scam and con artist. Apparently contracts mean nothing in regards to getting your payment back if your event is cancelled. Marcus gave me the run around, lie after lie, about why he kept being unable to give me my money back. "I lost my phone", "the bank should've mailed it"...BS. Marcus did a fantastic job at our wedding reception on 10/1/11. His communication leading up to the event was outstanding and very professional. We planned our wedding in Chicago from Portland, OR. Marcus made the music aspect of our wedding stress free! The website was a great tool for us because it allowed us to imput our bridal party info and favorite songs ahead of time. Marcus did not have a specific version of our first dance song in his database but he made sure to get it ahead of time and it was perfect. The reception was a blast and people were on the dance floor all night. Marcus got the wedding party all pumped up before we walked in and the energy carried throughout the night. There have been multiple occasions when friends of mine, while attending wedding of other friends, will leave over to me and tell us that our wedding was unforgettable. I will tell you with complete honestly, this is a direct result from having confidence in Marcus's artistic performance at our wedding. Marcus DJ'd our wedding in August at the Wyndham Grand Riverfront in downtown Chicago. First off, Marcus arrived early and with all of the equipment which we had previously agreed to. He made his way into the venue without any assistance whatsoever and set up a gamut of DJ equipment on the outdoor terrace, in the cocktail reception room, and ballroom completely independently without needing assistance from me (the groom) or anyone else to our knowledge. It was awesome as we walked into the venue for the very first time and saw that Marcus had everything set up and ready to go and completely under control. This was a breath of fresh air since the bride and groom are being pulled in several different directions on their wedding day. It was great to be working with someone who was completely professional, ready to go, and low maintenance. Awesome job Marcus. We really appreciated this. As for the the ceremony, and transitions from the ceremony to cocktails, to reception; Marcus coordinated this perfectly. There were absolutely no kinks whatsoever and Marcus kept things moving along as expected. This was very smooth and nicely done. Superb. If I could provide one piece of feedback for Chicago Mobile DJ's, it would be this: Make sure to align closely with the customer's expectation of what songs will be played throughout the evening. Plenty of the songs that we provided on our list were played, but we expected for several more of them to be played. Marcus and I spoke about this after the wedding and we felt that maybe there was some miscommunication, which is totally understandable. As I told Marcus, regardless of this he kept people dancing all night so this really wasn't that big of an issue. My husband and I recently had our wedding on October 23rd 2010 a the Chicago Firehouse Restaurant on Michigan Avenue. We had Chicago Mobile DJs do our wedding. It was awesome! My husband and I were very picky about the music we wanted to hear for our wedding and we actually sat down one day and picked all of the songs we wanted to hear. Marcus did an amazing job of playing our most favorite songs at the perfect times. He also threw in a couple songs that were perfect at other times, such as during cocktail hour, which were very classy and jazzy sophisticated. It gave my wedding such a perfect vibe. We got married in May 2015 and hired Marcus to DJ the event. My wife and I had the chance to see Chicago Mobile DJ's twice before and we liked what we saw. Unfortunately, Marcus doesn't know how to handle any unforeseen issues that might come up and then makes you feel like your a difficult person to deal with even though it was our wedding!! Marcus had a "issue so he could not DJ our wedding, which thank God for Eagle Ridge Resort and Megan who handled the mix up for Marcus. As, we were never notified of any issues until I called Marcus two days after my wedding! Chicago Mobile DJ missed our ceremony AND WE HAD TO PAY OUR VENUE $90 to handle the issue for Marcus. As of 10/14/15 we have had no reimbursement from Marcus. I had to call him two days after our wedding to find out what happened. Again no reimbursement from Marcus!!. Chicago Mobile DJ did have a replacement DJ there for our reception and he did the best he could under the circumstances. My wife and I were not happy with Marcus as he didn't catch up his replacement to speed on our requests. I've been trying to deal with this situation with Marcus since May 25th 2015 and last spoke to him August 7 2015 and left the ball in his court for some sort of resolution to the problem. HE HAS NOT RESPONDED AS OF YET ITS OCTOBER 14 2015. Marcus is a good DJ and has a good product , but definitely doesn't practice good business skills. Marcus is a GREAT DJ and MC! Right from the beginning when I first contacted him, we talked for a very long time and he seemed like a great fit for our wedding. Throughout the planning process Marcus checked to see if he need help with anything or if we had questions.
